I had my surgery on 1-27-20 too by Dr. Juan Francisco Hidalgo in Puerto Vallarta, MX. How are you feeling?

I am just back from Puerto Vallarta. I had my surgery Monday and I'm feeling good, no problems whatsoever. Who is doing your surgery? Dr. Juan Francisco Hidalgo did mine at the CMQ Rivera Nayarit Hospital. It was like having surgery while on a tropical vacation!

If you are considering surgery in Mexico, I would highly recommend Dr. Juan Francisco Hidalgo with the Weight Loss Team in Puerto Vallarta. I am 4 days post-op from VSG surgery and everything went so smoothly. The hospital, CBQ Riveria Nayarit is new, state of art, absolutely spotless, beautiful, much nicer than any hospital I have ever seen in the U.S. I was actually sitting on a balcony watching the sunset over the ocean the evening after my surgery.Gerald, the Executive Patient Support Manager is wonderful! I only stayed in the hospital one night, but most patients stay two. The next two days, I enjoyed a beautiful resort with my family before traveling home. I was in Puerto Vallarto for 4 nights, but most stay 5. I feel like I had a surgery while on a tropical vacation! I have had absolutely no nausea or refulx, and very minimal pain. I really wouldn't even call it pain, just a little soreness. I'm not sure why my surgery seems to have been so much easier than my friends' surgeries in other places, but it truly was, and Dr. Hidalgo has a few protocols post and pre surgery that were different than my friends' surgeries. He only does 1 or 2 surgeries a day. Please feel free to message me if you have questions.

Sorry to hear you are in pain, and hope it gets better very soon! I had my VSG on the 27th and didn’t have the hiccups. Hopefully, someone else who has experienced that will answer. ?

I just noticed that you had RNY, not VSG! You are doing great. Unbelievable that you were only in the hospital overnight. Did your doctor prescribe anything like Pantoprazol?

Yes, they are all so different with their protocols. I can’t have anything warm for several days. I am enjoying tiny sips of room temp decaf tea now, and finally some water. How is everyone doing?

In Puerto Vallarta, MX. The nutritionist just came in and brought ice chips. She’ll will be back in an hour with something else.

Finally had the last leak test, all is good. I had to drink some contrasting fluid, then x-rayed with some type of weird imaging instrument. I was told 2 other leak tests were done after surgery yesterday. I still haven’t had a drop of liquids, not even ice yet, but they are supposed to be bringing me some. This doctor allows no liquids until after the test. Grrrr!!!

I’m walking laps too, feeling good. I’m waiting for the next leak test. From what I’m gathering I won’t be released until my doctor’s pm rounds and that was about 7 last night. Not complaining, so thankful all is well and all is well with my surgery twins !❤️??

I was hoping to be released early tomorrow, but doc said it would be early evening because after the leak test they have to monitor how I tolerate liquids. They are so sweet here. The nurse ordered a sandwich for my hubby without us even asking after he decided to spend the night and brought him a nice fluffy blanket and pillows. I mentioned I had a slight headache, After checking my BP, which was normal, the nurse called an on duty doctor who came in asked me a few questions, and prescribed something for my headache to be added to IV. This all happened in 10-15 mins, unbelievable I was a little nervous about surgery in PVR, but all is good

So happy all the 27th gals are doing good! I’ve been walking all over the floor I’m on and husband and I sat on a balcony and watched the sun set. Still no pain, but they put some pain meds in my IV, so that may be why Are there 2 types of leak tests? They did one after surgery, but I can't have anything to drink until after the test in the morning. I didn’t understand the 2 leak test explanation. The doctor speaks very good English, but fast and my mind was a little foggy.

Woo hoo! I’m up walking and no pain. We’re both doing great. No sipping for me yet. I have to wait until tomorrow after the leak test.

Hi all! I’m a few hours post-op and all went excellent! Very slight pain, almost none. No nausea. I’m going to take a nap now, so more details later. Thanks for all the support! ❤️

Okay, I admit, I'm freaking out a bit now. I wasn't going to order an ab binder, but based on the comments here, I ordered one and it will be here Friday. My surgery is Monday in MX.
