I hit 100lbs lost for my birthday back in September, and NOW, just in time for Thanksgiving, I've FINALLY reached onederland!!!!! I had to run out of my bathroom and cry into a pillow so I didn't wake my husband with my excitement lol. I still have a ways to go, but I haven't weighed this since I was a preteen, and... just... AHH!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I celebrated with air fryer shrimp and turkey bacon for Breakfast lol.

TRUTH! Nothing worse than saggy underwear! On the plus side...I kept all my "cute" underwear when I grew out of it! I will dig it out and see if it fits yet!

I had to stop doing Protein Shakes as soon as I was off liquid. They made me extremely sick, and that was after a lot of trial and error (whey, pea Protein, bone protein, etc.). I still can't do shakes, but I've started incorporating Protein Bars in my diet (on days when I'm out and about and don't have time to make food to eat, normally). One bars are good.

Well I started my journey at 315 lbs pre surgery. I got to 275 on surgery day with 10 months of dietician. Today I am exactly two months post op. And it made my day this morning to weigh in at 239!!!!! I cant ever remember being this weight. Besides buying new clothes and having them not fit in a month this has been the most rewarding, hard, scary and fulfilling thing I have done in a very long time. I hope all of you are feeling fulfilled and proud too. Keep up the good work!

I unfortunately had to get my gallbladder removed shortly after my surgery, so I can't eat whole eggs anyway. However, when I was at that stage, I was able to eat an entire egg's worth of egg whites in one sitting. It did very much fill me up, even if I didn't add cheese or something to it.

I got a coffee mug warmer, so it has two heat settings on it. I have small, appetizer sized plates and while I'm eating, if it's something warm, I set it on there. If it's something cold (if I'm home), I'll usually take half and leave it in the fridge/freezer if possible to keep it cold. Just be aware if you use the mug warmer, leave it on low or you may end up slightly burning your food lol. It was a life lesson.

Honestly, it used to take me soooooo long to eat a meal that I eventually just got used to eating lukewarm/cold food.
I'm two years out, and even now I'll just eat leftovers straight from the fridge.
But if this not for you, there are mini crock pots you could use (or the aforementioned mug warmer). Also, you could try to eat out of insulated bowls?

I agree, talk with your doctor.
I had little red bumps on my stomach, but it was my skin reacting to the sutures (turned out to be hives for me). It could be anything, though, because your skin goes a little bonkers after a major surgery, so you should ask your doc.
For the pain, are you eating slowly? Are you taking your time? Are you eating hot/cold when it happens? Are you eating the wrong food for your current recovery stage? If you moved on and it's hurting you, like switching from liquid to puree, you can always move backwards and give yourself more time.
I understand hating the Protein Shakes, but Protein is super important. If you can, maybe find some unflavored? Or is it just the texture?
Congrats on the surgery. ❤️ Hope you feel better. Talk to your doc!

    Welcome to the forums.
I can relate to having a baby. Well, no, not really, since I'm a guy and it's different for guys than gals. I can explain it if you like, I have a presentation with charts and graphs. Really, it's quite educational and entertaining.
This actually reminds me when I had my Tummy Tuck when they removed 10 pounds of flesh. My parents gave me celebratory balloons that were attached to my wheel chair on the way out: "It's a boy!" I got some interesting looks that day. See, I come by my warped sense of humor honestly. Really, it's quite interesting. I have a presentation with charts and graphs.
    Back to topic.
I'm not a fan of extreme diets like the pouch reset. Personally, I had my surgery so I would never have to diet again. 'Diets' are not sustainable. 'Diets' end. Folks think that just because they reached goal that they can return to eating 'normally.' You know, the normal that got us where we were pre-op.
I advocate just returning to your post-op plan. You know, the plan that worked for you. The plan that was supposed to be for the rest of our lives. Yeah, that plan. When you had your WLS you committed to a life-long change. So, get back to that commitment.
It will take time as all healthy plans do. Do it consistently. When you return to your desired weight (aka 'goal') just adjust your plan to maintain, then do it consistently.
You've done it before, you can do it again, but this time just keep doing it.
    Good luck,
    Tek

@dal101 I bet there are maps or groups someplace! I’ve always heard about the Jurassic Coast in southern England if you’re into fossils. And there’s lots of metamorphic rocks in Scotland. There’s always weird and unusual minerals in metamorphic areas.

Thats pretty interesting , I wish there were canyons and mining areas in the UK to do this kind of stuff. I have a metal detector that I use on the beach often but thats about it.

I miss Nevada. I lived in Vegas for six years and while I hated the city I loved all the outdoors stuff outside of it. Hiked almost daily in red rock canyon (and lost a lot of weight). On of my favorite things to do was get old Topo maps to look for and explore the old abandoned mines in the desert. We were cautious (as cautious as one could be when doing that sort of thing), like having enough Water and light for days and telling someone exactly where we were going and to call for help if we didn’t check in by a certain time... but it was crazy how deep some of them went into the mountains and the spider webs of tunnels, likely dug by hand. I really miss the desert and the mountains. Houston is just flat and sticky...

I am a geologist, and I’ve been opal mining someplace just south of Death Valley. It was probably 20+ years ago, so I no longer remember the name. I’ve also been to the diamond mine in Arkansas. Beautiful and interesting geology in that area, and there’s also several places close by where you can dig for some beautiful quartz crystals. Lots of other interesting minerals in the area as well. There’s a series of great books called “The Roadside Geology of [Utah]”. They exist for nearly every state. I’m almost positive there’s one for Nevada. They are great for road trips to explain what you’re seeing, and will mention places that are good for rock collecting/mining/fossil hunting. They are not too technical.

Glad you enjoy digging in the dirt! It’s one of the things that attracted me to the profession. Although now I work in an office and make maps. I haven’t gotten to play around with a rock hammer in years. Maybe once I lose a bit more weight I can get out there again...

So, part of the thing I love the best about having lost so much weight and having so much energy is what all I can physically do.
Back in September (since I live in Nevada), I went opal mining, and yesterday, I went to Tonopah to go do turquoise mining. We dug, broke rocks, and did basically hard labor for 5 and a half hours. Over that time, my garmin recorded me having burned over 1000 calories, and despite my soreness today, I had a blast.
Does anyone else do mining stuff? Does anyone know of any good places? I went opal mining in Virgin Valley in Nevada, and turquoise in Tonopah, Nevada.

There is a public diamond mine in Arkansas. Really just a big dirt field in a state park where you can sift for diamonds. There have been some big finds there occasionally.
