Same here - my hunger was not completely eliminated, it started to return at the around the 1 year mark. However, it is so much lower (in urgency and frequency) than before that it is totally manageable. Even when I'm truly hungry because of not having eaten all day, my body just gives me a polite "Hey, it would be nice to eat something" where before it was "FEED ME NOW!"

4 yrs later, I feel great. My start weight was 143, went down to 137 which fluctuates about 5 to 10lbs at most.

kfunk307 reacted to Jaelzion in How much are you eating a year out?
Good to know I'm not the only one! I rarely eat a real meal either. I eat mini-meals throughout the day. It generally looks something like this:
    1. 6 AM: Morning latte (made with Kitu Super coffee, no sugar)
    2. 8 AM: 1 scrambled egg
    3. 10 AM: Yogurt
    4. 12 PM: 1 chicken thigh
    5. 3 PM: sugar-free pudding
    6. 7 PM: handful of almonds
    8. Nighttime snack: cheese stick
It usually amounts to about 800-900 calories and 60-75g of Protein. In order to hit my protein goal, everything I eat practically has protein in it. I don't restrict calories, but I do try to keep carbs low.

I got pregnant 18 months after RNY. All was fine and healthy. Being pregnant is difficult for lots of reasons. I actually did lose a few pounds during the first trimester because of morning sickness and food aversions. But my OBGYN just monitored me closely. The best part was within 48 hours of having him, people were telling me they couldn’t believe I had just had a baby! Pick healthy food whenever possible and double your Vitamins.

Just stumbled across a video on YouTube that I thought would be useful to share with you guys! I love the steps that he has made out and the way he explains it. Although he is talking about a serious topic, I think he's hilarious about it as well. Hope that you guys enjoy it as much as I did.

    Hello surgery twins
We are officially 2 months out today so I thought I'd see how everyone is doing?
Overall I'm doing well. Recovery was fairly simple and I've had no issues with any foods or getting in my protein/water. There are still lots of things I haven't tried (bread, Pasta, rice, sweets, etc...) as I'm following the Protein first recommendation from my team but within those guidelines all is well. I'm walking over a mile almost every day and am getting ready to join a local gym to add some weight training. My energy is still low so I'm hoping if I increase healthy carbs a bit this week I'll have the energy to do that.
Weight loss is a little slower than I had hoped (down 29.8 post surgery: 16.8 and 13) but I recognize I never would have lost almost 30 lbs in 2 months pre-surgery. I hope i continue at at least this pace. In addition, I am losing inches - almost 14" total from all over.
    So---how are you all doing?

    Hi surgery twins!
Down 26 lbs. and feeling great! Just cleaned out my closet last night, and as I was trying things on, I couldn't believe how large and baggy things were looking on me! I'm down two sizes, so now I'm not trying to hide under my clothes. It's so weird to me!
I'm still trying to figure out my routine of food. I start with coffee with Protein Shake as my Creamer and add a scoop of collagen Protein. The bat wings on my arms are getting noticeable, but I was expecting that because I'm 49 and I have no illusions about my lack of elasticity. I do a piece of cheese or yogurt for morning snack. A green drink (veggies only) with more Protein Powder for lunch. Afternoon snack is the rest of my protein shake, then dinner is chicken, fish, meatballs, or a sausage. In between all of that is Water. I had some bread a couple of weeks ago, and my stomach got super grumbly. This week, I'm going to switch out the juice on a few days for some salads. I've had a little beer (stout only) and a little wine, but I don't feel I need it like I used to pre-op. I had a small piece of pizza last night for the first time, but only got through a few bites. I used to have pizza every Friday night, but like so many other things, I don't miss it and don't care if I ever have it again. Also super weird to me that I feel that way!
I'll admit that I wish I was losing more than 1-2 lbs. a week, but I also haven't been this size in a VERY long time! I keep telling myself that slow and steady wins the race!
I'm walking 1.5 miles every day. I belong to a gym, but haven't been in years. That's my next big "add" to my routine. Although, I might quit the gym and start going to yoga. I'm looking for strength/core building, and I like yoga way better than germy machines!
I was cold all of the time for the first six weeks, but that seems to be subsiding. Three weeks ago, my face started breaking out with tiny whiteheads, which has never happened before. My energy is good at the beginning of the week, but fades by Friday.
    Keep on truckin', everyone!

Hello surgery twin! As of today, I am down a total of 36 lbs. I am quite happy, I don't know the last time I lost this much weight in 2 months. I also struggle with my energy level. Some days are better than others. It's still been real hard for me emotionally, knowing food isn't my comfort blanket. All foods though have been settling good, I'm thankful for that!

These are my absolute favorite. My husband makes them a few times a week.
    2 eggs 1 large banana (or 1 1/2 small)
    That's it
Whisk eggs mush in banana then whisk, til it looks like pancake batter. Cook on griddle or skillet. Yields 4 small pancakes which I am 6 months out almost and can only eat 1. So I'm eating a 1/2 an egg and 1/4 of a banana.
They keep well in fridge in a zip lock bag over night. If they last that long. Hubby eats the other 3 most days.

I am about two months out and I am having this exact problem. Getting my liquid and Protein in for the day is a hassle. I have no desire to eat. I am planning on going back to what I ate during my pureed diet phase and try to start eating what I did in the beginning.

be grateful for it. At some point your hunger is going to come roaring back, and you'll wish it was gone again. It's SO MUCH easier to lose weight when your hunger is in remission!

Wow. I didn’t ask for a verbal lashing. I posted in recipes with a question. I am on soft foods. I have followed all my doctors orders and don’t need to be reminded of why I had surgery thank you very much. Aa0

I didn’t say I was making it tonight but I was asking for suggestions because it was a strong craving that hit me today in between my egg salad and shredded chicken chili I had for dinner.

I noticed a tendency of new members to be ridiculed for not being part of the “wls elite” on this site. I have seen you and several others make nasty posts to new members asking questions. Some may be trolls. Some may not. I didn’t ask for a coach to yell at me. I have a dr and a nutritionist. I asked for suggestions.
The assumption by some people here that we all are the same and need the same tough love and scolding is obnoxious. I don’t need scolded. I’m working my plan and asked an innocent question. You jumped on me for it so I probably won’t post in here again. Thanks for that. Now I’m sure 10 people will like your comment so you don’t get your feathers ruffled bc you all are the BP elite and sit higher than everyone else here to judge. Incidentally, I lost nearly 100 pounds on my own several years ago with diet and exercise. I know how to eat. I also lost a child and both my parents and used food as a coping mechanism instead of more dangerous choices. I quit smoking and had three children and and was under tremendous stress and gained. I could not get all the weight off this time and was concerned for my health. That’s why I had MY surgery. Not because I eat Fritos all day.

And I have been. Posting. Like. This. Has. A tone. To. It. So you can say it isn’t bashing but when you say I repeat myself and finish a comment with The end. Your tone is condescending and implied.
It’s ok. I am not one of “your crew” here so carry on. I just won’t post anymore but you might consider that bc some people won’t call you out. They will just delete their account.

Get yourself one of those small under desk exercise "bikes" or "steppers", if you really are strapped to the desk for that long, there are also plenty of other things you can do to get some exercise in! Just googled "Desk exercises" or "chair exercises"

Hey guys had a very slow week only lost 2.2lbs.

    Surgery weight was 257lbs
