Woo hoo you're venturing into one-derland. I am one week into my two week liquid diet and I am tired of it as well. I have no hunger, but I see food on TV and think that I am missing out, but not for long.

Like others have said, don't be shy asking for pain meds. And don't chase pain. Keep on the schedule allowed for the first day or two. Once the pain gets too far it can be hard to catch up.

I'm 5 months post op and as of today, I only have 16lbs left until my goal! I see my surgeon for my 6 month post op visit in 4 weeks, fingers crossed I can be near, or at, goal when I see him again! It's so crazy going from a 2XL or 3XL to a large or medium top and large bottoms. I thoroughly enjoy shopping now and often go to stores just to try stuff on. I went to put on one of my favorite shirts yesterday that I haven't worn in about a month and it looked like a sack of potatoes on me. I've already had to resize my wedding rings and will probably have to do it one more time here soon, they're already starting to get loose again. I remember going shopping before hoping that I could find something in the largest size that fit, now I go to stores picking one thing in a couple sizes because I don't know which will fit better.

I can tolerate most foods just fine, very few issues with dumping, some days I eat more than others. About the only foods I have guaranteed issues with is broccoli, cauliflower, and any amount of pork products, even just a half teaspoon of bacon bits scattered on low carb pizza I made at home screwed me up.
I did have a minor surgery last week and had to get basic blood work (CBC) done for that and it looked identical to my pre-op CBC, can't wait to see what the rest look like in a couple weeks. I'm so happy I did the surgery, I feel amazing! I have been running as often as possible, although I'm benched for another week right now, and hit a sub 40 5K. I remember back when it would take me over an hour to walk/run a 5k. I could never run more than 45 seconds at a time, and now I'm running for 4-5 minute chunks.

Had rny Tuesday morning. I had my first little poo today but I'm still feeling constipated. Didn't realize that could happen in a liquid diet but yep. A lot of pressure went away after the little poo so that was great. I'm still unbelievable sore where the drain is and in my shoulder. Belly incisions not that bad. I think I'd feel pretty much alright if it wasn't for the dang jp drain. I haven't been able to get all my Protein in but honestly I'm still just working on walking every hour which is getting better.

I've lost 85 lbs. I have degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my back. I did nine months of physical therapy right after my surgery. Now I am doing pilates to strengthen my core. While I'm not pain free, I am off Oxy and doing things like sitting through a movie or ball game in a crappy seat with much less pain.

lost over 200 lbs. Used to have constant pain. Rarely have it anymore, and when I do, it's not nearly as bad as it was pre-surgery

I started in July 2019 with diet & exercise. My weight then was 427 lbs. I couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes before my ankles and legs started hurting. My right hip was also in almost constant pain. My doctor wanted me to lose enough weight before surgery to get my BMI down to 50. I started tracking calories and exercising 4 to 5 days a week for 30 minutes. Once I started losing weight everything started to feel better. I had my surgery on January 16 and as of today I have lost 103 lbs, 80 prior to surgery, 11 lbs during one week liquid pre-op diet and now 12 lbs one week after surgery. My pain is 1000% better. I started with Water aerobics and after a month of that moved to doing recumbent bike, then onto elliptical trainer. Start slow doing what you can and try to increase every week. As you get in better shape and lose weight it will get even better.

You can also try some tricks like:
Front loading your daily calories - eat the most early in the day, have a lighter supper, and nothing after 6 pm.
Add more raw veggies - celery, peppers, jicama, radishes, some carrot slices, cauliflower, broccoli - I make up bags of these colorful little friends and eat a pound every day.
Eat a salad or Soup before each meal. Preloading with less caloric, healthy filler food cuts down on overall calories.
Drink 2 cups of cold Water half an hour before eating.
Intermittent Fasting (IF) - eat your calories in a pre-timed window each day ( 6, 8, or 10 hours).
Exercise. Exercise does not cause much actual weight loss, but it can increase your metabolism and build lean muscle mass which has a much higher metabolic rate than fat. Exercising during a fasting state (before breakfast) is even more effective for fat burning, as the muscle glycogen is already used up, which forces the body into fat burning mode.
Make sure you are getting at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
Change up your meals. Maybe you need more variety. Really take a hard look at what you are eating - is each bite nutritionally dense? Can you switch out some foods for some legumes, a few nuts, more veggies? Look at your dairy, especially cheese. If you are eating basically the same thing every day, it is obviously not working for you.
Are you getting at least 64 oz of water each day?
Stop snacking. Each time you eat, you get an insulin burst which drives calories into fat storage, rather than fat burning.
Just some ideas to try. Each one of these tips is backed by evidence based research.

Uomograsso reacted to RobertaMSN in Has anyone chosen to shed relationships as well as pounds post surgery?
Going into this surgery I knew there would be head work but am surprised at a change I've decided to make: shedding or discontinuing one-sided relationships with some family members. It's as if as I lose the weight and become healthier I'm looking much closer at what's really going on with all my relationships. As I feel better about myself I will no longer tolerate indifference and lack of caring from others, or continue what I was doing - trying to buy their love with gifts.
I'm the maiden aunt who had been sending Christmas and birthday presents to family kids until they turned 18. In the past I've at least received photos of some of them in return and one niece was good about thanking me. But this past year - nothing except a different niece's wedding announcement via my brother - not even directly from her and no invitation just a bid for a gift, which I sent.
My sister is the only family member who is in frequent contact and clearly cares about me - and the only one who knows about my surgery. No one else has ever inquired how I am doing, if I'm well, or showed any interest in my welfare. I'm sure they're good people - they just don't know me or love me.
So rather than feeling sad that they don't care about me, I'm accepting it for what it is and shedding them from my life as well as the pounds. I'll simply stop sending gifts (and am changing my Will) - they probably won't even notice. It feels great! Is anyone else reevaluating relationships post surgery and deciding to shed those that either are one-sided or bad for you?

I'm planning on having a sleeve done late March. (I'm having to pay cash, and will be paying and making in stone appointment Feb 10th). (And HI! New here and have been semi stalking forums for a short while 😅)
I've got several people in my life who have had both By-pass/Sleeve, and they have given all sort of little tid-bits and niches thats helped them along the way.
My father loved tiny spoons and tiny bowls. Even after 10 years of having the by-pass, when he was at home he continued to eat with tiny items. A friend keeps a metal 1/2 measuring cup on his car keys (so he always has it to compare). While another friend keeps a special metal ring on her so she can compare. What was/is your helpful little niche after operation? Tiny items? Timers to keep reminders of Water and Snacks? Or did you just mentally always measure out portions to make sure not to over eat?

WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW FAR I'VE COME.
I started my diet journey 5 months ago today.
at my heaviest in the surgeons office I weighed in at 322lbs.
I was admitted to hospital for surgery 256lbs
now I'm 3 months post op and feeling great.
JUST hit 190lbs this morning and also realised I'm just 7lbs away from the top end of a healthy BMI.
I'm doing so well I might even get down to 180lbs yet and that feels amazing.
I've been doing a lot of fasting and that has really helped.
I've also got my new rowing machine and started using it tonight; it is hard work that's for sure 😀
    officially lost 132lbs now 😄
I still say RNY BYPASS was the best choice I've ever made and to anyone else looking at bypass don't stress too much I've not had one issue or complication so far!!
    THANKS.

No such thing as a "dumb question." That is why they want you to stop drinking 30 min prior to eating and not drink during meals as it will flush food right thru your pouch. My doctor says this only applies starting with soft foods in stage 3. So, no Water shouldn't harm your pouch now.

Uomograsso reacted to catwoman7 in 3 years out and can't lose a pound.
sounds like you might need to CUT calories, not increase them. How many are you eating in an average day now? I can maintain on 1500-1700 a day - but some people maintain on less than that - some even on 1000-1200. That range is going to be different for everyone. Start logging your food in an online tracker and after a week or two see what your average is. Then cut it by like 100 calories for a couple of weeks. If that's still not doing it, cut another 100. Rinse and repeat. You'll eventually find the spot where you're starting to lose weight again.

p.s. There are definitely people who can maintain on 1800 calories, but that is pretty high. Even my 1500-1700 range is on the higher end for bariatric patients - a lot of people can't eat that many and maintain, unfortunately.
