Make sure you know if you need to lose weight or just maintain. I didn't have to lose weight, just needed to not gain any. My surgeon wanted me to lose 77 lbs so surgery would be easier on me, so I did lose weight during my visits.

Well after two back to back days to make sure the scale wasnt tricking my eyes, i am officially under my goal weight of 215, weighing in at 213 on the dot this morning. I know my weight loss journey is far from over, but to finally be under a number you use to think was a pipe dream has a good feel to it. Im very proud of myself and ready to continue to transform my body. TONE TONE TONE now. But im very excited for my future. I couldnt say that a year ago.

Ok Here I go again Veterians of this site! So lets just say you are a month out! It is all about the math! So time for AJ the proffessor to give you a math lesson
20 pounds in 4 weeks is 5 pounds a week
So lets take a look at this
26 weeks from Now will be six months and if you stay on course you will have lost 130 POUNDS
52 weeks from Now will be one year and if you stay on course you will have lost 260 Pounds Or 30 Pounds under your goal!
Like i said its all in the math and without the surgery you dang well know you would not be able to stay with the math

I have posted this same thing many times for many, It makes sense this is a journey Not a freakin sprint! Stay on course and Do Not let the Mind Games mess with you!

Cucumbers would be a good start for raw veggies as they are mostly Water. I have been doing onions and peppers in my morning egg beaters. I cook them until they are soft then add my eggs. Haven't had any issues so far.

My first question would be what type of surgery does your doctor recommend and why? Your doctor should able to explain why the type they recommend is best for you given your health history. As for other questions, read and research. Make sure you write down any questions that come to mind as you are reading so you can remember to ask your doctor.

You won't be able to do a bariatric diet as after surgery you can only get about 500 to 600 calories per day which is waaaaay to low with a normal stomach. I just did a reduced calorie diet using MyFitnessPal to track everything I ate. I started out with 2400 calories per day suggested by MFP to lose two pounds per week in July of 2019. After about a month I dropped down to about 2000 calories per day and was able stick to that. By November I was able to go to 1600 to 1800 calories per day. I did have days where I had a ton, I went to Vegas in September and took a break, but I got back after it when I got back home. I also started exercising 4 to 5 days a week. That also helped. Working on good habits prior to surgery will help you after surgery. So do what you can and build off of that.

Looks tasty, but the Protein in it is collagen which is an incomplete protein meaning it does not have all 9 essential amino acids that a complete protein, like whey does. In the short term this is OK, but over the long term you shouldn't rely on it to meet your daily protein goals.

Supposed to start "normal" foods this Thursday, but I didn't have anything ready for lunch so I had a rotisserie chicken thigh without the skin. Ate the whole thing, but I am stuffed. My stomach is handling well though. It is amazing. Before surgery I could eat half a chicken and still have room for potatoes, veggies and bread.

I am doing Benefiber and also taking stool softener daily. I am pretty regular with that, but still can not go for a couple of days. If you can't talk about it here, where can you.

I can't quite chug, but I can take about 3 to 4 big drinks in a row. That can leave me feeling bloated as well. I can do a 20 oz bottle of Powerade zero in about an hour. I am doing pretty good with getting 64 oz in daily. I was always carrying around a big cup of water prior to surgery, so sipping constantly was a good habit I already had.

Tell them it's your body and your choice and you don't feel comfortable discussing it with them. Or don't go and let them know they put you in a really uncomfortable position by second-guessing a decision you made with your doctor. The last thing I would do is let someone try to debate me about it.
I told my mom a year AFTER the surgery because I didn't want her opinions.

Uomograsso reacted to JRT Mom in Got approved to have vsg surgery but I want the gastric bypass now! Can I switch.. my surgery date is March 11, 2020 help
If you have a surgeon that insists on one type of surgery over the other without involving you in the discussion then you have the wrong surgeon! Yes, they are the doctor, but they need to listen to you and you should have a say in the decision. But I agree with Briswife 15 that you need to have this discussion as soon as possible. If your doctor is well practiced at both procedures then he/she shouldn't have a problem with you switching procedures. And of course be sure to jump through the insurance hoops--don't want any unpleasant surprises when the bill comes!. Keep us posted, OK?
