Happy Monday to me! 10.5 months post-op. 146lbs lost since surgery. GW ACHIEVED!!
I would like to thank... literally nobody but myself because I am the one who accomplished this!
    Hollllaaaa!!
And this is before the skin removal so who knows what I will end up being. I am also still actively losing so I am not at equilibrium yet. Interested to see where this will go....
  4. Thanks

I am right there with you! Headed into my 9th week (sleeved 7/22). I am seeing inches come off more than the bloody numbers on the scale...honestly, I stopped stepping on it. I just do my Water and Protein like others say. I am having issues where I don't really want to eat, but make myself to stay on track with the protein. Things just taste funny!

I could do the same thing in the beginning thought it was weird. I could down a Protein Drink but Water was difficult and bothered me for 2months being upset i couldnt drink a whole water bottle only warm sips i already hated my decision to get the sleeve and regreted it for the first 2months. Im 3 months and i know longer say i regret anything. Im happy with my decision to do this and things get better. My favorite thing now is chuging a cold water bottle down before bed which i couldnt do in the beginning but now i can. Somedays its a fight like im starving to death its best to stay busy but other days im not very hungry and kinda could care less about food. For me if i feel if im starving and truly is hunger i should want to say ya ill drink that gross portein drink and for me 80% of the time id rather starve cuz im just craving Snacks and with all my old habits of emotional eatting just want to go with what I'm craving and how it will make me feel.. i enjoy food now! I eat alot of whatever my hubby is eatting. Tacos , shepherd pie ,California rolls! I just eat like half of a portion size and its been going good. Im happy where im at. Ive lost 50pounds in 3months. I have 40 more to go but i dont feel deprived or anything right now.
You got this! Remember the first month is the absolute worst but it does get better u will be sohappy u pushed urself to do the surgery!!! Get a fit bit thats also helped me get my steps in a day. I average about 13thousand steps a day. Any Questions feel free to ask. Take care!

Stop watching My 600lb Life. LOL! Seriously, that show is cool, but gives all of us the impression that we should be able to lose 25lbs in a week! LOL!
The average rate of loss is 2-4lbs per week. That's it. If you weigh more, you "can" possibly lose a lot more than that per week in the early months. But that's not a general truth.
You're doing great. There will be stalls. I had a 3 week and a 6 week stall.

I started working out a month after surgery. I’m now 11 months out and have been working out 6 days a week since then. I do kickboxing which I love because I get to take out all my aggression! Lol. I find the gym too boring so I’m so glad I found something that keeps my interest. Just find something you genuinely enjoy doing and you will stick to it.

Before the surgery I tried the gym and it was always a struggle because I wasn’t interested. Now that I found out what I love doing, I never have to drag my feet. It’s my fav part of the day. Who would have thought that fitness would be enjoyable?! Lol

Good luck. Remember baby steps...you got this! Losing weight is one thing but working out and seeing yourself build strength and stamina is so empowering!!! Of course, there will be days where you lack motivation and just don’t feel like it...that’s when you have to push through. Don’t think and just do. 👍🏽

That is commonly referred to as the 3rd-week stall. It happens between 3-4 weeks. Stay off the scale for a week or it will drive you nuts. I didn't have stitches I had staples so I can't help you with the soreness but I imagine it will take a while to completely heal. I've had so many laparoscopic surgeries that I think I should have had velcro on my stomach. I've had the band in, the band out, hysterectomy, and then the sleeve. You'll pass this stall we all have it, there will be many more on your journey. The body just wants to "readjust" then you start losing again.

My weight continues to drop after I started working out. The weight gain could be muscles which in turn will lead to more weight loss and a leaner look.

    @Mikeyy
Short and sweet answer to your question is YES
i was never an exercise person. (the real "down and dirty" stuff)
I do walk - which definitely counts, and is good for you
    i did a total 180 with my food/drink/moderation etc
All the things i learned in the Bariatric Bible☺️
    i lost 105 lbs GOAL - 7+ years later, i fluctuate 5-7 lbs.
    good luck

Is it possible to lose weight without exercise? There are bariatric patients with medical issues that don’t have the ability to exercise. Weight loss is more dependent on strict diet without exercise/activity.
Factors you have no control over that will affect how much and the rate of weight loss. Age, genetics, hormones, medical issues, medications metabolism. You CAN control how you work your surgeons plan. food choices, logging, exercise and hydration.
Decide what will keep you healthy and successful long term.
Where does the fat go when you lose weight???? Video below.

Weight loss is primarily a result of the diet, not the exercise. It is very hard to actually exercise off weight. So of course, you will lose weight with diet alone. However, developing an exercise routine of ANY kind is a lifestyle modification that will greatly benefit you in the long term. First, it builds muscle which burns fuel at a higher metabolic rate than fat, so the more lean body mass you have, means the more calories you can eat later. Second, it is good for you. Improving your cardiovascular health adds years to your life, combats depression by changing brain chemistry, and even helps prevent dementia later on. Third, it is a very empowering activity that you can control. This whole WLS journey has a lot of ups and downs, many of which you have no control over - pain, recovery time, food intolerances, stalls, volume limitations, etc. It can be frustrating and discouraging. Exercise gives you at least one area of your life that you can predict and control and feel successful in. That is really helpful.
Every bit of research shows that people who follow the diet plan AND exercise will have the greatest weight loss and will keep it off more successfully. It's something you just have to fit in. The first place to start is by getting a step tracker and getting at least 10,000 steps a day and maybe some wall push ups. Then add some upper body strengthening with weight, then maybe some leg work, then maybe some stretches. Then maybe some alternate cardo like biking or elliptical or stairs. It's up to you, but you need to start SOMETHING if you want to get the most benefit out of this whole process.

Start working out as soon as you can! But wait 1-2 months for heavy weights.
This surgery gives us a chance to turn around our previous bad decisions around food and exercise. An extra tool. But that is all - we have to drive our new habits and the sooner you start, the more likely that will be ‘bedded in’ when you get to your maintenance phase.
You might have some plateau as you build muscle, because size-for-size it is heavier than fat. But muscle tissue is way better for you - makes you stronger/healthier, it also burns more calories even at rest, so over time building a bit of muscle is great for keeping off the weight.
I have never exercised, played sport. Now I run 3x a week, gym 4x a week and I really genuinely like it! And I REALLY like seeing (lady) muscles on my arms and legs! Makes me so proud, reminds me I have WORKED at this, not just taken the easy option.

After a couple of weeks you're clear to work out as much as you want, and you should, except for lifting more than 10 pounds you should wait 4-6 weeks. Sure, your friend might be thinking of gaining muscle, but that's a GOOD gain and you'll want to be fit and burn calories, so exercise is important.

    2. Post-Op - VGS - 46 days
    3. 235 - 40 BMI
    4. Easy squats (for right now)
    5. My fav flaw: I believe in people when I first meet them. **Shrug** I love meeting new people and until people prove me otherwise, I trust them...This has bitten me in the buttocks (in my Forrest Gump voice)...
