Obstructions do make you vomit, personally I'd get it done just because I wouldn't want to risk a full obstruction.
Bless you must be awful, big virtual hugs x

It's a scare tatact for the most part. Those drink have useless sugar and other ingredients.
Most of us are "food/sugar addicts." Staying away is the best option not the only option.

I drink carbonated Water (no flavoring) with no problems. I dont drink soda pop too often only because it is too sweet now for me, but I have no issues with it as long as I drink it on an otherwise empty stomach. Probably not the best choice though...

They want to go back in to fix what? The bowel obstruction? or something to do with your sleeve?
Are you still vomiting/nauseous? Every single day? If so, I would probably get it fixed. Yes, it won't be fun going through the surgery again and the recovery... but you're not in good shape now either, you know what I mean? Either way - you're suffering. Might as well get it taken care of ASAP.
But ultimately it is your choice and you will just have to have a hard conversation with yourself and decide what YOU want to do based on your own opinion.
Let us know what's going on. I am so sorry you're going through this. And if you get unkind or flippant comments - just ignore them. This could be any one of us going through this (and it might be one of us later on down the line).. not sure why anyone would be so glib about a serious subject like this.

Yes, thank you. I think that he just needs me to listen right now with out trying to help or fix. I'm guilty of that because he is my younger brother and I'm always trying to help.

I'd like to add that I don't drink liquids while I eat not because it flushes through, but because it makes me barf. I feel like the liquids just sit on top of the food and has no where to go but up (especially if my stomach is full). Yuck.
I will drink right up to starting a meal, but not during, and not for at least 30-45 minutes after my last bite.
Edited to add: oopsies, you were asking about bypass... I had the sleeve. Sorry!

you're having major surgery which takes 6 weeks recovery so you won't have much energy anyway. But food wise you will go into ketosis and use your body fat for energy which can make you feel energized.

I live in a very small town in Mississippi. I drive to a "bigger" city for my appts that's 3 hours away. But it's still pretty small. While we're not having an outbreak around me at the moment, I'm still surprised at how disconnected the bariatric clinic seems to be. Some sections are just now totally shutting down for who knows how long (the surgery wing/dietitian/ psych floor) while others have been shut down for a month and are opening back up now. Whackadoodles! 😵

it depends on where you are. Some areas are far worse than others. Plus small towns and rural areas haven't been hit nearly as hard as urban areas - or at least not YET. But at any rate, even though some hospitals and clinics have been overwhelmed with the virus, some are still OK...

what ever happened to the Bile issue you guys/gals we're having....
I'm 3 weeks out - was revised - had surgery 5/27 and then again on 6/8 for an obstruction they said due to scar tissue - I'm awaiting a call back again for another CT scan, as I started vomitted bile again this morning... surgeon sending me for a CT scan ASAP. I hope its nothing and I have to be opened up again.. I'm going to lose it - I did this for GERD and here I am now with BILE! LOL

@Bastian I hope that things get better for you. That they figure out what is wrong.

my life has been endless battles. But we do what we can to get by and sometimes it’s still worth the price we paid. I paid hefty price physically to battle with my weight but I wouldn’t change it.
I hope this leaves you no regrets where the path takes you. I find it hard when answers aren’t clear or even there. I didn’t get them myself. I wanted to answer though I’m a tad exhausted.
I will say, Not all whey Protein is the same, you can have allergic reaction to some not others. Depending how pure they are. The quality I’d say. I had the best results with PEScience select Protein Powder, although they do make a vegan select. Have you tried mixing protein powder in yogurt, like Ripple brand yogurt that’s non dairy. I don’t do well with dairy but have a little Greek yogurt since it’s protein rich. To get dense protein BariatricPal has excellent Protein Shots. It very well could be Vitamin deficiency and more an overall ill feeling you need higher absorption nutrition until they figure out if it’s mechanical.
I highly recommend taking Whole Foods based Multivitamin in Gummy or liquid form. Because your body utilizes it better than traditional Vitamins. most vitamins shoot right through your system especially after bypass. And you went through a lot with yours. I kind of wish they had taken my remnant stomach. I wonder if I feel pain from it but they didn’t see ulcers there.

sorry I go off on tangents. I had my gallbladder removed also. I take chewable digestive enzymes that helps. I also read bike salts are beneficial.

all the best to you in getting the care you need

@ All you not-that-long-out-of-surgery-people: enjoy the situation of being able to eat what you want while being at a normal or near-normal BMI as long as it lasts. I for sure do. No pseudo-complaining. No humble-bragging. Carpe diem!
@Bastian You might want to get help for that bile reflux. It's awful to have.

As said above I'd wait 1 more week before eating. Concentrate on fluids and Protein Drinks.
The hiccups you describe I call hiccburps and they can be loud and hurt a bit, slow down your intake.
I have terrible lactose intolerance now so might be why i hated the ricotta bake, when i have dairy it is like i am having severe dumping syndrome!
There is no rush to be on solids your main focus needs to be fluids and Protein, so take a deep relaxing breath and let your body heal and increase solids slowly x

So 9 months post-op and I'm considered underweight. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen and in fact, used to worry I wouldn't lose enough!
My aftercare has been lacking and I emailed the hospital director last week to let her know my BMI is too low and none of the team replied to my Nov/Dec emails. She sent a snotty email back saying that coz of COVID no one had replied. Of course, I'll be setting her straight tomorrow.
She did, however, get the surgeon to ring me but I missed his call
I just can't get enough food in, which I told the dietician in Dec and she never rang back as arranged, so I've been bumbling along on my own. Still feeling very unwell and have been since the surgery, but it's a bit like I got put in the 'too hard' basket!
Any other bypassers have this eating weight loss issue?
