She said it doesn't have as much Protein as it claim to have in it. And these are better for bariatric patients.

Premier Protein has less than 1% Whey Protein Isolate according to the ingredients on the side of their box. Whey Protein Isolate is definitely the best source of protein for weight loss surgery patients, especially if you have a malabsorptive procedure.

I would definitely speak with hr and see if they would cut your hours so you qualify for now. Unfortunately, the way things work if you pay for insurance you will be using a lot of your pay to cover the premium. Do what you need to do for yourself and your health. I have BCBS thru my husbands union and there actually isn’t a wait period with them anymore. I had very minimal copay. I think around $300 or so not counting the $20 copays here and there for dr. visits. Although, my surgeon had a wait period which actually was good in getting adjusted to the changes. If you find one that covers it check the copays too. Good luck to you, wishing you the best.

I mentioned to 2 of my childhood friends that I was thinking about surgery and I go the you don’t need it. That was about 2 years ago. I have several health problems and when my sugar was up and was about to be diagnosed with diabetes I decided on surgery. I was diagnosed with diabetes after my a1c came back high again the 3rd time, right before surgery. I still only told my husband. I even got comments and dirty looks from nurses at some of the dr. Appointments I had to go to. I am 52 and married. I certainly am not doing this for looks. Yes that will be nice but not why I did this surgery. She will see as your health improves, you are able to do more, you feel better, look better, are more motivated and happier. I was taken off my blood pressure medicine one week after the sleeve surgery. I am hoping my sugar is controlled on my next bloodwork. I think sometimes people we love don’t want you to Chang for fear of losing you. Just hang in and she will see.

My last surgeon appointment for my one month checkup I only lost 4lbs and was pretty upset. Here the nurse practitioner said she told the surgeon to prepare us that the weight just doesn’t come off in weeks 3 and 4 and sometimes people gain a pound or two. She said it will really start in the coming weeks. So I would say concentrate on Protein and fluids and hang on for the ride. Good luck to you.

I start the purée soft foods Monday. I like to cook and normally make everything homemade. Think of what you like and how to adapt it. If you like tacos use some ground turkey, layer it with puréed Beans, a little cheese and sauce. If cooking for a family just pull a little out for yourself to adapt it. That’s what I will be doing. Maybe a little ground turkey or chopped up chicken or meat, a little ricotta filling, little cheese, maybe chopped spinach in it, a tad of sauce if you like. I make this dish with fake crab meat and it is delish. The veggies couldn’t really go in it but I lightly cook the crab in a skillet with garlic, salt, pepper, onion powder, I whip up some eggs or egg beaters, then turn the skillet low, pour the eggs on, then add a tad of mozzarella and shake cheese. (I normally add broccoli, onion, mushrooms). Same as stuffed peppers etc. just make it healthy and adapt. Good luck to you.

Hi, I started with a BMI of 36, I have/had a lot of health related issues and was diagnosed with type 1.5 diabetes and my mother had major complications from diabetes so I wanted to do whatever I could to stop it as best as I could. So for me the risks of surgery were nothing compared to the medical conditions I was developing and had. I had my sleeve surgery 7/8/2019 and within a week after surgery I was off my blood pressure medication. I am feeling better and it is so much easier now without being hungry all the time. It was so worth it! I think if you weigh the long term risks of being your weight now and the risk of the surgery you will have your answer. I was required to attend an informational meeting and a support group before my surgery and they have one every month at the hospital and it is free. Maybe ask your surgeon and do a google search for them in your area. I honestly would not wait. My surgeon explained how hard it was to not lose the weight but to keep it off and the huge percentage of people that put it back on and more. Long story short he explained when your stomach is a certain size and it’s empty your hormones are kicking in making you hungry and wanting to eat. So That’s why so many fail at keeping the weight off. I did Keto lost 25lbs then put that back on and a little more my Dr. told me “You just did more harm than good” that was the day of the diabetes and I made up my mind for surgery. So anyways, Make the change and keep moving forward Best of Luck to you!

Great you are doing so well and they approved you! I know with my insurance BCBS you had to be a 35 BMI with comorbilities, or a 40 BMI without. Mine was at the time papers were sent for approval. So I was told not to go under the 35 BMI until approved. I was ok to lose weight after that approval was in and before I started the liquid diet. It really depends on the insurance, I would caution anyone starting this to make sure you stay within the BMI approvals and get a copy of the code from your insurance to make sure you don’t stop yourself from getting the surgery. I see posts of being just under and get the surgery canceled. I had my two week follow to my surgery appointment yesterday and he stress for me not to be in a super rush that the weight will come off. To give my body time to adjust to everything that I have a year to get it off.

My friend is a runner and takes something from GNC to help her muscles recover after long runs. It might be those map pills... I don't quite remember, but if you went to GNC or a similar store you could get some guidance there.
For dealing with the inflammation in your body, you could combat that with CBD oil. It is great for reducing inflammation and I use it for just that - keeping my sore, aching back from screaming for ibuprofen which I used to pop like tic tacs before my surgery.
You simply may not be getting in enough calories to be exercising that intensely. I think this is an unpopular opinion and I may get some push back on here but I buy into Dr Duc Vuong's theory about why you should NOT exercise for 6 months after surgery. After trying to exercise early out post op and being too exhausted to function at work I gave it up. When I later came across Dr Vuong's video about exercising it made a lot of sense to me:

    Hi,
You don’t have that much more to go. I just hit my month visit and I am off all food restrictions. It is so worth it and you are almost there. If you are craving nachos etc. check your salt intake. I was getting dizzy and was told I didn’t have enough sodium. I added Gatorade zero to my diet. Also let your dr. Know about nausea as they can prescribe something for it. I was sent home from the hospital with something for nausea and something for upset stomach/gas. Keep plugging away it will get better.

Hi, I am so sorry for everything you have been through. I myself had the sleeve June 8, 2019 for health reasons. I lost 20 lbs already and I feel good. It is so nice to not be hungry all the time. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I would say you already answered your question. I put on a few pounds so I would qualify and made my mind up and never looked back. I was taken off my blood pressure medicine after 1 week. I am off my Meloxicam now for my inflammation and I am doing well without it right now. I take the meloxicam and Stelara for my psoriatic arthritis. You need to do what is best for you, if you need the hernia surgery do whatever you need to get it done. This is something that could change your life for the better. If I were you I would go for it. I am glad I did. Sometimes it easier to just make a decision and not question it. Just keep going forward. Good Luck to you.

I had surgery on a Monday didn’t go till Friday. I was so miserable. When I called the surgeon office they told me to take Mirilax but I was home alone and could not get to the store. I took a few sips of coffee which I would Not recommend. I was then in the bathroom the whole day. I was so relieved to go though I was ready to go to the hospital how much pain I was in and afraid my stomach was hurt. By the time my husband got home from work I was already went. They said it happens from all the pain meds and not enough Water. I would definitely try something to make you go or it is just going t9 get worse. Hope you feel better.

I had the sleeve 5 days ago. Was so constipated and belly hurting. Had an icepack on all day. I wish the surgeon would have told me to take the Miralax before i called today. The nurse said the Constipation is usually from pain meds and once they are out of your system and eating food it is better. I would definately try some if you didnt already. I am not really hungry. Constantly sipping on Protein Shakes or clear Protein, gatorade, broth. Caffeine free tea, or Jello and sf popsicles. I also froze some protein shakes in little containers to make it easier to get down. Seems to help.
