  1. I feel your pain. Just started my pre-op yesterday and already dreading my protein shake meals.
  2. yes, told not to shave anything a week prior so there is no chance of any "open wounds" which could be prone to infection.
  3. SO EXCITED, I had to tell someone! Got approval from insurance yesterday and my surgery date moved up to May 7th! Started my pre-op diet yesterday as well! I can't believe its happening! Wish me luck with these darn high protein meal replacement shakes! Two weeks of these seems very daunting. If you would, please leave me any words of encouragement or advice you have for surgery, I sure could use it!
  4. Hi Everyone, I am sort of taking a survey. Do any of you include your caffeine free coffee and/or tea as part of your water intake for the day? Just curious what I can count towards my 64 oz. Thanks!
  5. whoa, whoa, whoa...... whats this about giving yourself a shot? My surgeon has never mentioned this to me. I'm 4 weeks out until surgery & no mention of this at all!
  6. I'm lucky with my pre-op diet. I have a meal replacement protein shake morning and evening, then a regular healthy protein packed lunch with lots of veggies. Sounds a lot easier than total liquids only! Good luck to you!
  7. Is pancreatitis a possible side effect of surgery? I know possible gallbladder issues could arise - is pancreatitis a possibility too? Just wondering so I'll have another thing to worry about. LOL
  8. Thanks for the heads up! I never imagined CL would have caffeine!
  9. I am right there with you! Scheduled for surgery May 16th & all I can think about is 'what if i'm the .01%'.
  10. Good luck! I am at the tail end of all my requirements as well. Hoping for surgery next month too. Fingers crossed for both of us!
  11. To cross my legs. To get up off the floor without help from a piece of furniture. To wear a belt. To tuck in my shirt. To play with my grandkids (once they get here). To put on my pants without falling over. The list could go on, these just come to mind immediately.
  12. Wondering what everyone's experience has been with taking your prescribed medications immediately after your surgery. I am on two different antidepressants and can't take several weeks off from taking them right after my sleeve surgery. Has anyone had any experience with this? Surgeon said if it goes down the esophagus it will fit in the stomach. But I don't think he meant the day after surgery? Any words of advise are welcome.
  13. RachaelLou - how did surgery go? How are you doing?
  14. I also have Aetna. Requirements are similar as others have posted. 4 consecutive visits with the surgeon, 4 visits with a dietitian, EGD, Psych eval, EKG & blood work. I'm already diagnosed with sleep apnea so a sleep study was not required. I'm still in the process of getting all this done so I haven't been approved yet. Hoping to by the end of the month so I can have surgery May 16th. Good luck!
  15. how long do the gas pains last after surgery?
  16. I am 5'2", starting weight was 213 at my first doctor appointment. I have lost 20 lbs waiting for insurance approval & with their good graces I will have my surgery May 16th. I am doing the gastric sleeve. I have sleep apnea, & borderline HBP. I just want to feel better, to be able to get up off the floor or to cross my legs. Its not about being skinny, its about being healthy.
  17. My surgeon recommended Pinterest to search for recipes.
  18. I'm 5 foot 2 inches, & just turned 50. My starting weight at my first doctor's appointment was 213 so I know where you're coming from! I have been waffling since the beginning. I'm worried something will go wrong and I will be one of those low percentages they talk about that have complications. Ugh!
  19. My surgery date is mid May and I'm already getting cold feet. I keep wondering what if something goes wrong, what if they discover terrible side effects years down the road? I suppose this is normal?
