    April 2019 Surgeries!

You should contact your surgeon, that would seem to indicate a reaction to one of the meds they put you on. I’m not a doctor though. I had itchy skin where my incisions were healing but no rash. I would definitely have it checked out. Hang in there!

HOW FAST CAN I RETURN TO WORK POST VGS?

I had mine on a Monday, and went back Friday. (Desk job) I managed on Tylenol, didn’t need my narcotics. I felt a little tired, but managed well enough. So if you have complications it might be different, but you should be okay. I returned to my second job after 2 weeks (waiting tables) but felt pretty drained pulling 14-16 hour days that week. It’s fine now 4 weeks post op. Good luck! Wishing you smooth procedure, and speedy recovery.

    April Sleevers

My surgeon encouraged me to drink as much as I could, but said the first week or 2 that’s really normal. Our stomach tissue is very swollen after surgery. Less than 20 oz will lead to quick dehydration. I just was home watching tv the first week. So every time a commercial came on I would make myself sip. Set a timer if you have to. It does get easier each day, the first few are the roughest. You’ve got this!! I’m finally to purées and it feels like heaven after liquid for so long. Hang in there!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Congrats on the weight loss!! Yay!! I’ve been on puréed for a week, the first few days were difficult. Seemed like I had to burp with every bite. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s gotten a little easier every day. Our stomach tissue is still a bit swollen, but we are a little more healed each day. I actually was able to eat a little than 1/4c cream soup for lunch today with no issues. But still finding certain things aren’t working like cottage cheese. Keep thinning until whatever agrees with you. You’re doing great!! You got this!!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Yes!!! This!!! I work a full time job, which I went back to the week after surgery. I was sleeved on the 8th, and back on the 15th. I’m at a desk but up and down quite a bit helping up on the retail side. However this week I started back to my second job of waiting tables. I felt so lightheaded, I had to go outside a few minutes and put my head between my knees. My pulse according to my Fitbit was 161! I had 16,000 steps at that point in the day as well. My pulse has been running slightly high in the upper 80’s-90’s since surgery. I asked my surgeon, they said it’s normal if you aren’t drinking as much as you did preOp. Your body feels dehydrated. PreOp I drank 80-100oz water a day. 60 is still a bit of a struggle. I’m going back to wait tables tonight, after I get off from my day job. Really hope it’s better. I’m taking protein to drink during my shift, the water didn’t cut it Monday. Wish I worked somewhere that we had sick leave 😕. But yes, I’m constantly exhausted!! Hang in there, I hear it gets better!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

UPDATE: had my first post op appt today. I was sleeved 4/8. Surgery weight was 225, today was 210. Down 15lbs. The body analysis shows that was mainly fluid loss, but doctor said that’s normal. He cleared me to start purées stage Saturday. Never in my life have I ever looked so forward to mashed potatoes or scrambled eggs!! 1 more day of liquid. Water still a struggle. I used to drink 80-100 ounces a day, now 40-50 is about all I can manage on top of the protein shakes, broth and yogurt. My doctor said it will get easier in a couple more weeks when the stomach swelling goes down. Hope you all are doing well on your journey. Feel free to ask me anything! Thanks for all your support!!! 😘

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Good Luck today Jon!! You got this!! ☺️ I was fine until I walked into the OR then the tears started. But once I laid on the table, I was out and really don’t remember until I was in my room that afternoon. It honestly was not awesome the first day or two, but 9 days post op and I’m feeling more normal everyday. Back to normal life already. I don’t regret it, nor will you!! See you on the losers bench!!!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Did you figure out what’s causing it?? Looks like a medication reaction....I’d call your doctors office

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Hi @Flintstones I’ve had incisions in the past covered with steristrips. You can shower in them, just don’t pick at them or scrub them, they will fall off in a couple weeks on their own. When they’d start to fall off, I would just trim the edges off that had released.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I second this, I was told I could shower, just not scrub the incisions. Pat dry, I’ve showered each day since Wednesday and haven’t had any issues so far. I just keep my back to the water stream and let the water just kinda run down my front. I just soap above and below and let it rinse off. My incisions are stitched internally and glued. Hope that helps!
