  1. Did the squats and crunches. Taking today off from the gym. I went 5/7 days this week. Went for a walk and ran into a neighbor who complimented me on my weight loss, so a good day so far.
  2. I learned to only weigh myself in the morning only, and ONLY on days I feel lighter. I have had 2-3 pound swings but I knew I didn’t gain weight because I eat less than 800 calories a day and never cheat. I just weighed a bit more for whatever reason that given day or time. I feel like I lose slowly, but in hindsight it’s been steady. If I wasn’t tracking what I ate I would be nervous about weight shifts. I’m 8 months out and closing in on my goal. edited to add: I just looked up my weight tracking, at 4 weeks my weight stalled for 3 weeks and then I only dropped 2 pounds. Looking back I remember thinking I was going to be the only person on earth that didn’t lose weight eating 600 calories a day!
  3. Great to hear that! Best of luck.
  4. Oh no, hope it’s an easy fix.
  5. You seem to be in a unique situation considering you are mourning the weight you will be losing. Have you discussed this with your Doctor so you are mentally prepared for the change?
  6. Lunges and plank: check Watching The Devil Wears Prada. I guess 13 years is an old movie!
  7. Dinner for one tonight. I bought a wild rice stuffed chicken breast, I had it once before and it felt so indulgent. I’ll eat about 2 tablespoons of the wild rice. This challenge, my new Fitbit and going to the gym is working for me. I already hit my goal to get below 150. I was exactly 149 this morning. I’ve lost 7 pounds in the last month which is higher than normal since I’m close to my goal weight. Thank you for this thread, it helped kick me into another gear.
  8. 20 squats 25 crunches done. #10. Done, although I felt a bit like Stuart Smalley!
  9. I think my first appointment was 2-3 hours long. I met with the metabolic physician, (I didn’t meet with the surgeon until my second appointment), the nurse and the nutritionist. I think I spent the majority of my visit with her. I had labs etc done and was given a large binder and a checklist of all the appointments and testing I needed. They also provided the names and information so I could schedule them easily. One bit of advice they gave me made a lot of sense. Get the sleep study done first because if that came out wonky it would take the longest to straighten out. Mine was fine, but required a follow up that delayed my surgery 3 weeks. I never understood why I needed that follow up! I was given a diet plan to follow for the next 3-4 months and I had to meet with the nutritionist once a month. I left feeling very confident and organized.
  10. #9. I’m on track to drink 94 oz today, I normally drink about 80 15 lunges and 45 second plank accomplished.
  11. Dr. Wiener on YouTube has some really sound advice and videos you might, (or may not!) find interesting. I like his straightforward no nonsense approach. I don’t know I agree with everything he suggests, but he has a lot of common sense knowledge. Link to Dr Weiner You can do this!
  12. #8. Did my list, I’ve accomplished a lot! Finished the 20 & 20. Went to the gym and burned off more calories. B. I hate chewable vitamins, we aren’t supposed to have gummy ones right?
  13. I’m 7 months out. My top 2 tips are, 1. Track EVERYTHING and 2. Wait at least 30 minutes (or longer if your Dr recommends that) after a meal before you drink.
  14. The entire day? My nothing was watching a really insipid Hallmark movie. I’m still counting it, my brain was numb the entire time.
  15. #7. Check 15 lunges & 40 sec plank check.
  16. #6. In lieu of baking for a friend, I donated money to a local food pantry. Off to do 15 squats and crunches.
  17. I am about 7 months out and I can eat 3 oz of dense protein like chicken breast. If it is ground beef or chicken I can eat 4 oz.
  18. I don’t have a picture but I made this recipe,(Asian chicken meatballs), last week and it was super good. I personally skipped the peanuts and the mayo dipping sauce. Instead of an appetizer we had them as a lettuce wrap. I have been craving spicy since surgery. I highly recommend this one. Asian chicken meatballs
  19. I don’t think of it as being a follower, I like the camaraderie and the motivation that comes with a group activity.
  20. You could get the salmon with veggie sides. I would go for the Thai shrimp salad hold the wontons.
  21. #5. Watched an online mindful eating class that included relaxation.
  22. The first few months I pretty much just ate shrimp cocktail every time I went out to dinner.
  23. I have Aetna. My Doctors office had a checklist of everything and all appointments needed. I imagine yours does too. Once everything was complete and submitted they sent it to Aetna and I was approved in a week. I believe I was 4.5 months from start to finish. I think that is best case scenario. I was pretty lucky, none of my appointments took a long time to get and I didn’t have any complications that would have extended my time. I had to go to 3 appointments with the nutritionist and could not gain weight. I had to have a home sleep study, get an endoscopy, bloodwork, see surgeon twice, see a psychologist and I think a pulmonologist. I would have to go through my folder to be certain. I think you can use whatever Dr you wish if you are willing to pay for it. Aetna does not cover the psych evaluation, however they require it. It is a long computerized questionnaire administered by a psychologist. I think it was $150 or so. My Doctors office told me they make sure they cover all the bases so your insurance can’t say no. Aetna actually had a nurse call me for a few months following the procedure to see how I was doing and asking me if I needed anything.
