  1. You look great and I’m sure you feel it too!
  2. Yes, I'm cold all the time! I didn't think this would start until I lost a substantial amount of weight. I'm sitting here with two blankets and a shawl on and sleep with an electric blanket on at night.

    Day 12 feeling really crappy

My surgery was on the 3rd also and like you, I haven't lost anything for several days. I've been tired and taken naps for the few days but otherwise feel ok. I'm think I'm tired simply because of the low calories (I'm still on full liquids only). Maybe this is just part of the healing process. It sounds like you're doing everything right. If you continue feeling run down or are concerned, I recommend to reach out to your care team. I hope you feel better soon!!
  4. I've had the worst cravings today; it's been terrible!  I craved fried chicken, grilled chicken, a boiled egg...ANYTHING chicken that I can actually chew!  I know this is all a mental thing as I haven't been physically hungry since the surgery.  The liquids and jello just didn't satisfy the beast today.  😒

I know the feeling. I'm 2 weeks post op... I actually took a PC. Of my 6 year old daughter's chicken wing, chewed it up and then spit it into the garbage. It took the craving away and I didn't feel bad because I didn't swallow it. It was perfect. I felt the need to chew because I've been drinking liquids for a month now. I say if you attempt it, make sure you have the will power not to swallow it. (It's hard not to.. trust me)

Fried chicken will make you sick, after a while your brain will associate fried chicken with feeling sick as a dog and you will no longer crave it.

Today was much better! I pureed some potato soup and found the change enough to ease the cravings.

Kharisma, Good for you for not swallowing that nugget! lol I'd try the chewing/spitting out thing but fortunately we cleansed the house well before my surgery.

Gsleeve2010, I know you're right and I look forward to retraining my brain. I won't give in to my unhealthy head cravings but they sure are a bear to deal with!

    Little vent: spousal comments

I'm sorry he said that to you. He may be feeling a little insecure now that you've actually gone through with the procedure.

Kristyle, thank you! I’m sure it seems like a no brainer and I know you’re right but I’m obsessing about it for some reason.

    March 2020 Post-op Thread

I had my RNY on 3 March. I have little pain and can meet my water/protein goals just fine. My problem is I haven't moved my bowels yet and I'm beginning to worry. I'm taking Docusate and Miralax. How long does it normally take before the first poo after surgery?
  8. My surgery was 3/3 also. I've been able to meet my Protein and Water intake goals also. I've read that things change once we transition to regular foods in that we will be able to feel full.
  9. Congratulations! I'm on day three post-op and was wondering the same thing. I'm able to meet my protein and water intake goals. I've actually wondered if my surgeon performed the correct surgery (even checked my surgical notes to be sure). I've read that things change once we transition to regular foods in that we will be able to feel ful.

    Congratulations; you look great!!
  12. Are you measuring your portions and tracking your food/calories? A big problem for me is letting that go and not realizing my portions are slowly growing.

    V.A. Clinic Process

My surgery went well and I'm resting at home. Honestly, I don't feel nearly as bad as I expected I would.
