Well I was the OP who started this. last year. Thought I would do a mini- brag so you know it's possible. My highest weight documented 365+pounds, my Surgery Weight 319 and now almost 7 months out, my SD was September 5th 2018 at 7AM, for my surgeon I got up a 3AM to make it To Columbus in time! But it was a Wonder Wednesday, a Day if Days and the start of a new life. Now the crest of my life will be the best of my life. Any- hoo, I am proud to announce I am 234.6. pounds of less fat and stretched out skin, well wasn't planning to be in Playboy or Penthouse at 73 anyway. The loose is where I can stuff it under clothing, first places I lost were my face and forearms, but finally the rump, thighs and belly have joined in, never have a totally flat belly, carrying 3 babies 9 pounds plus does something to the muscles too, but better where I am Now than where I was before and I would never go back to the sad obese lady sitting because she barely could walk waiting for the Death Angel to come claim me as his own, Oh it has not been an easy journey but so so worth it. And I wish the joy for all of us! Your littler by the Day Pal Frustr8

Started pre-op (8/27/18) at my highest of 414.5, surgery weight I was 382 (9/25/18) and today I am 270.8 and so much happier! I’ve been working out 5x a week including a CrossFit class and jogging a little. Sure I have a major hanging belly and my arms are like wings and my boobs are flat saggy pancakes, but I feel 100% better! Proud of all of us for taking care of ourselves!

    Welcome to the boards.

I was in your shoes last week. I was nervous scared, my anxiety was pegged at high thinking would I fail at this too.
Then I had a reality check. I told meself. I want to change, I need a tool to help. I can handle this and I'm strong. I'm tired of being fat.

I had my surgery on 1/31/19. The pain was not bad except when sitting and standing using your abs.
I had no gas pain( thank god) and walk walk walk. It feels good to get out of bed.
My surgeon was funny, he said your not a sick person, dont lay in bed and act like your dying after surgery. So I took his advice and was move active.
The pain meds work well, and if you still have pain, tell your nurse, they will get ya something stronger.

You got this. You will be on the losers bench soon. You will start your pre op diet soon.

I'm going home. I could of stayed a second night in the hospital but I have done everything the asked of me. The pain is manageable with pain meds.

I was just reading that it's best not to spend to much money every time you reach a new plateau. Or every 20lbs. I agree. I don't have the money to do that. I don't want to look like a total slob either. (Which is what I think I look like now). A lot of my jeans and shirts have been with me since 20lbs (not years haha) ago. So I can hold on to them for a bit. But I live in Las Vegas and it will be the height of spring when I hopefully will be able to hit the pool again post op. I will buy a new bathing suit every couple of weeks if I have to. Obviously, they will be one piece. But the Water is where I am most comfortable and where I have lost so much confidence the past few years. Even if I can't do a major workout. Even if I'm just kick boarding or whatever. We are moving to a new place. It's just down the road but in Vegas, that's a big deal. I want to be able to socialize again. I haven't done much of that for a long time either. I've just gotten so lazy. Okay, maybe a little too much? The WLS, New place, new clothes, hew people. I'll probably be filled with anxiety, But now, I just wish things would get going already.

I have been big ever since I was a kid. I got married I was 240. And after each pregnancy I gained more weight. I have 3 children. My HW was 350 and had lap band surgery which I lost 70 lbs. Got down to 280. But I've been slowly going back up so had my band removed in September 2018 and just had my sleeve done on January31st 2019. I'm ready to start this new journey and get down to a healthy weight. I would love to get to my wedding weight for my 25th Anniversary in December...

There's not really a set goal. Just make sure to stop eating when you feel full. You won't be able to eat a lot anyway. I'm 2 months out and I barely get in 450 to 500 calories a day. Make sure to keep a food diary. I try not to do to many carbs at this time but I do indulge in low carb products from time to time.

Day 3 of new me. I feel good if I dont move. Sitting still I feel like nothing happened. Standing, or going to a sit of stand, it's very painful. Walking is about a 3 on the pain scale but I can manage it with pain meds.

I just cant get over the... what hunger. I feel no need for food. It's so weird not to be hungry( wish it stayed) .

How long does the not being hungry last?

Hi everyone - sorry, didn't mean to leave you all in suspense!
I got home last night and didn't have a good night and day with the pain. And my surgeon refused to give me any pain meds until my husband rang and gave him hard time. Then he gave me a 1 day script for Tramadol.
So, my husband. He surprised me. I sent him the text shortly after the surgery letting him know where I was and that I had left more info for him in the kitchen. He said that he understood why I had't told him, and that he didn't blame me. He was very supportive - but said that he probably wouldn't have been if he'd known beforehand.
He brought the girls to visit as soon as he got off work on Tuesday, and they stayed for 3 hours. He asked lots of questions and was reading some of the packet I left him.
He was there to pick me up right on time on Wednesday and said that he'd been up late reading up on it and wanted to know if I had a menu or anything he could look at so he could help. He brought Dunkin Donuts coffee and munchkins for the nurses like I asked, because they were so wonderful to me.
He called the out of hours doctor and got him to make my surgeon call back as I mentioned. He was really pissed they didn't give me better meds - I really was in a lot of pain. He has been supportive at the end, and that's good enough. He says that I definitely have made the right decision, and that I was very brave.

Not everyone will feel good right away after surgery, sorry to disagree. If you are an emotional eater, you may struggle directly after surgery with coping as a mechanism you have used to deal with feelings/emotions can no longer be used...I.e. food. This, coupled with some rapid weight loss in the first few weeks causes some emotional and hormonal happenings that we have seen on here, and many of us have experienced first hand. So do try to mentally prepare yourself for that. See a therapist if one is available to you.
Also, not drinking with meals is an abnormal behavior that is difficult to do with a normal size stomach. I would focus on cutting out soda, or drinking without a straw right now.
