  1. i hope i am not doing the wrong thing, but my dietician told me i could eat soft veggies and fish tuna, things like that i dont have to blend it, if it is soft, i hate pureed food, and i have only tried one lot of mashed potato and gravy, i was gagging on it near the end because it took so long to counsme a small amount and it had gone cold. i have also been having some of that yummy gipsland yogurt, and yogurt drinks. i am due for my first fill on 2nd october, and i have lost as of today, 6,5kgs from august 19th, hope all are doing extremly well. good luck to all.
  2. cant you buy protein shakes from your grocery store or pharmacy, like here in australia, they have all the vitamins and minerals you need, what could be easier than that.
  3. oh you will be back. i could bet on it.. the positivity far out weighs the negativity, take from it what you want, and what you need at the time for you. congratulations on your new journey you are about to embark upon.
  4. why are you concerned, i hope i can lose 40lbs in not even 4 months, that is amazing. good luck to you.
  5. sorry typo, it was august 19th at 7am to be precise.
  6. Trish i also was banded on august 18 in sydney, by Dr Cregan. and am feeling very good. just thought i would say hello as we were done on the same day, i am 38 f living in glenmore park. take care jo.
  7. hi I was banded on the 19th August, and like you i hate pureed mash potato and things like that. what i have been eating for my meals, are things that are soft, but not pureed, and things that have flavour, and not bland, for eg. I am eating a lot of fresh salmon, because it is a oily fish and so high in omega 3 and 6 i am finding it very nice, i have done it a few diff ways, but always with lots of vegetables. i chop the veggies very small, and use things like zucchini, red peppers, carrott, garlich sprouts, broccolli, and choko. dice them very small, place some olive oil, in the bottom of your pan, throw all the veggies in, toss so that the oil is coating all veggies, throw in some sea salt, a good amount of morrocan spice mix, to your taste. place the salmon fillet on top of the veggies, and place a few over it, so that the fish is covered. place lid on and steam veggies and fish, for about 15 mins on med heat. just before serving put in a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and some nice cracked black pepper. adjust seasoning if needed and serve, I only have 1 small cup full, making sure that it is not over 200gms. because the veggies have been cut to a small dice, they are very tender. and are very easy to chew up also the fish , it will be succulent and very juicy, i have had no problems with this type of thing if you are not into morrocan spicy flavours, you could use asian flavours with soy sauce, shausing wine, salt, and oyster sauce, or some indian spices of your choice, it is very versatile, and very healthy.
  8. dont sweat it, i went 3 days early because i wanted to practice eating before i started back to work, which was the day i was suppose to start mushies. as long as it is soft, and you dont over do it. i cant see any harm in it. it is not like you had something that could rupture your sutures. take care. im about a week further along than you.
  9. I am 38 married for 15 years, and have 2 children, my son 14 and 7 year old daughter, have battled with my weight most of my life, from the age of 11 actually up and down, i was banded on 19th august, and am looking forward, to my journey, i finally feel now that i can be the person that i always wanted to be. i live in sydney australia, and work as a nurse, part time.
  10. karen be carefull with your chocolates and ice cream, my friend has basically sabbotaged herself from the get go with that, thinking that she is only having small helpings, her weight loss has basically come to a stand still. calories are calories, plus, you know it is not healthy to be eating that, you really know the right thing to do..... good luck i hope i have as much success as you have had .
  11. i was banded on the 19th august, and i am constantly with a drink in my hand, and i sip all day, i am drinking tea with soy, my shakes. my vitamin supplements, soup, when i am having a drink, i just take a tiny sip every say 20-30 seconds
  12. congratulations, i was banded last week, 19th and feel absoulutely fabulous, looking forward for my journey to really start. cant wait untill i am on normal food, and have some fill, so i can really not get back into, but for once start living my life, as i know i can, not just because i want, to, but always sit back on the side, lines, and never join in.
  13. dont be stressed out, be glad they found your potasium levels, low potassium levels, are dangerous, it effects the heart rhythms, better to wait a few days, get that sorted out, then to go into a fatal heart rhythm in theatre, or later back in your room. what is another 2 days, in the rest of your life, i know its dissappointing, but put it into the now. good luck for wednesday.
  14. I was banded on tuesday last week, and i found that moving around, and not sitting down for too long helped, if you feel you need to burp, get up and move around, i found that helped me actually burp, as far as gas pain in the shoulders, again move, and take tylenol
  15. hi i was done on the 19th august, and i also have red and itchy rash around the site, as it was day 4 yesterday, i peeled the dressings off, all dry and clean, rash has stopped itching, and i feel 100% better. i also am finding it difficult, with the fluids, i have been sipping staminade, for the first few days, to give me some energy, i felt so shakey and faint. feel better today, have had some fresh veg and fruit juice, staminade, and a protein shake. good luck with it all hope it works out well for you. jo.
  16. You really need to get incontact with your surgeon, because there is medication that will help reduce the hydrochloric acid, that is causing your reflux, you dont need to suffer with this, the quicker it is sorted out the better you will feel.
  17. where abouts are you being done in sydney, and by what doctor, i am having Dr Cregan, and im at Nepean Private.
  18. I am being banded in sydney on 19th august, to be honest i cant wait, i am trying it very hard to stick to Optifast, i had what feels like my last supper on the weekend, i just hope that my surgeon will still do me, i have been so pathetic,, good luck for tomorrow, hope all goes well

  21. It cant hurt to take it easy and be kind to your liver, one of the risks is that when they retract the liver, and it is too fatty, you have a much greater chance of getting a tear,in your liver, or a bleed, the more fatty your liver is, the more soft and spongy it is, a healthy liver should be firm and dark in colour. good luck with your journey
  22. Tess my date is 19th august, and to be honest i am finding it very difficult with the diet, day 3 i nearly fainted in the medicare office, also had the green apple splatters, and just felt wretched, i am also finding that i feel at times anxious, depressed, all over the place emotionally which is surprising me, i thought i would be just ecstatic to be finally doing this, maybe my sis is right, i obviously have a few issues, and am medicating with food, and now i cant use that i have to deal with it..........any way, i refuse to fat any longer, and i am doing this, so stick with it, and i think all this is normal, i also find i feel a little light headed at times, and it is kind of like i am on the outside looking in. good luck with you date, regards .
  23. I too am being banded in august but my date is 19th, I have to do optifast, but i have decided that i will do tony ferguson, i find it a little easier, as i will have shake for breakfast, then lunch what i do is make up the soup, they are like cup of soup packets, and they come in all diff flavours, cream of chicken, field mushroom, and another curry one that is nice, the only one i didnt like is the pumpkin, anyway as you are allowed 2 cups of veg a day, what i do is have the soup, i make it up in the cup like a cup of soup, then i get a mix of fresh broccoli, cauli and zucchini, just enough to make it a cup quantity, then nuke it in the microwave in a a container for 3 mins, with out any water added, so it keeps just the nutrients from the vegetables . when they are cooked to my liking, i then sprinkle them with a little spice i usually use a chilli based one, and then pour over the vegetables the hot soup that you have made up, it is actually very satisfying, and i find that if i do this for lunch and dinner i am only having the recommenede quantities, but not feeling so deprived.
  24. Have been told by a few banded friends that when marinating, put in about 2tsp of bicarb soda, mixed with about 2tsp water, this makes the meat very tender, even allowing them to consume red meats.
  25.
