  1. Yayyy well done! It's a new life from here!
  2. That's 104 pounds over a year which is fabulous!
  3. Bahaha - there is a sun, I know its there somewhere!
  4. Sláin *waving from Tipp*
  5. I'm on my third week (first week of mushies) and it's torture. I'm not full even at 5 or 6 ounces, I'm having to steely resist going back for another serving. Please reassure me it gets easier when I can try real food.[emoji22][emoji22][emoji22]
  6. The iron infusion doesn't hurt at all unlike the rotten injections. Much more effective too. But trying to get one in Ireland is like gold dust. They just won't do them here (I had one for anaemia in Australia).
  7. I wanted to post you a photo of Tipp but the only one on my phone was of some ducks waddling across the road I was on and now I think about it, it was in Waterford [emoji38]
  8. Good luck Bryce and SouthrnGirl. Tomorrow is two weeks for me so I can start on mushies yayyyy. Oh my goodness I'm looking forward to purees!
  9. Mine doesn't cope well with artificial sweeteners. If I eat/drink too much of those (and God help me, that means all the protein drinks) my body sounds like a 747 warming up for take - off.
  10. There's a good school in Killenaule! All these Tipp people coming out of the woodwork [emoji847]
  11. Oh it's lovely! Tipp town is not too far from me. I'm not a native, I'm originally from Australia but I married an Irishman for my sins [emoji6] and he imported me.
  12. Tipperary, Ireland here
  13. Oh gosh, you've been thru the mill and back haven't you. At least it wasn't painful whilst you weren't asleep, if not a bit disconcerting.
  14. My bdoc didn't say anything about opening them or even in what form to take them so I think I better ask. Ta.
  15. So you can take capsules as a bypass patient then?
  16. Mine is the traditional Arabic kunya (honorific) for a parent: Umm = mother (of) Yasmin (my daughter's name).
  17. Hi Frustr8, just reading your slightly older post and I have a question re: the omeprazole. My surgeon wants me on it and my GP has prescribed it in capsule form which I've been just taking like a regular capsule (swallowing the thing whole) am I doing that wrong? I couldn't figure out what you meant here.
  18. I've been getting head cravings every now and again. Distraction is helping, as is trying to identify what it is I'd like and having something along those lines. Like if it's savory, then some soup (I make my own). If it's sweet I make a faux hot chocolate (coffee with two caps of sugar-free chocolate syrup, lactose-free milk and a small spray of canned whipped cream)
  19. I'm another failed band. In my case it never really worked. Mine was mechanical failure - it sprung a leak early on and nine months after I had it, I was back in hospital getting the tubing and port replaced, but even after that it never really worked in the way promised.
  20. I'd call your surgery team to ask because that sounds pretty extreme to me.
  21. Wowweee that's a lot of hard work there! Kudos Matt!
  22. Baaahaha my poor husband just looked at me in amazement. Not the least bit romantic I can tell you.
  23. I wonder if it's a cultural thing. I live in Ireland but had my surgery in Belgium so all my information from my surgeon and hospital about eating is European. They had me eat! Dutch Rusks day two after surgery (they're like these toasted, crumbly bread biscuit things). And the material they have me to read talked about the importance of having potato and pasta in the diet when I can progress to blended and real food. Absolutely no talk of minimum daily amounts of protein at all. So I wouldn't stress too much, just follow your surgeon 's advice, experiment with what works for you and get a semi-regular blood test to make sure you're not vitamin deficient.
