  1. HA HA HA!!! I hear you on being nervous. I remember being kinda weirded out about how nakes I was during gall bladder surgery. Then I got pregnant and went into labor. That took care of ANY sense of being shy after that with all the interns that were with my Doctor.
  2. I am SO EXCITED for all of us now that our month is FINALLY here. YAY!!! Although, lol, this reminds me of a message board I am still a member of for those of us who were due in the same month and year. I was SUPER JEALOUS of those who had their babies earlier in the month than I did. It's kind of the same feeling. HA HA HA!!! Can't wait to hear about experiences!
  3. I'm feeling all the same things you are Tanya. (Thankfully it's mainly excitement...we'll see how I am two weeks from today when it's the night before my surgery.) It's hard to believe that there are already a few that are going to be banded in just a few hours! YAY!
  4. Cool! Thanks y'all! I was talking to one of the nurses at the hospital earlier today and she said the pre-op diet is usually for people who's bloodwork comes back high for the liver function and since mine was normal I didn't require one. She did echo all of you though in that if I felt the need to, that it wouldn't be a bad idea to go onthe diet now. I also like the idea of learning how to deal with the demon of "OMG! I can't eat that???" now rather than later.
  5. I have my final consult with my surgeon tomorrow then it's hurry up and wait for th 14th to get here!!! YAY!!!!!! (Did the psych eval a few weeks ago and did the pre-op EKG, chest x-ray and bloodwork earlier today.) Elisia, (BEAUTIFUL name by the way) the best thing you can do to help yourself get rid of some of your fear is to research, research, research, attend a seminar and go to a couple support group meetings. I don't know if your fear will completely go away, but IMHO it's healthy to have a little going into something so major anyway.
  6. Hi there! I was dx'd with PCOS about 10 years ago here. I've been on and off Metformin ever since then. UGH. I stopped taking it a month ago when I finally decided I was a go for this. It never really did anything for me anyway unless I was taking fertility meds (like Clomid) to go with it. HATE the stuff!!! If you haven't been on meds yet, I wouldn't worry about it IMHO. As for doing anything different, I'll be looking for the advice of others on that too, especially since I haven't been banded yet.
  7. Oh TOTALLY. I keep forgetting about the support group meetings at the hospital, so it'd be nice to have others to talk to face to face. Where did all the Tucson people go anyway????

I cannot wait for the new one to come out!!! I've already told my husband that he gets to stay home with the baby so my sister and I can take our dad out on a date with us to go see it. YAY!!!
  9. Just so you know... it is WRONG to see that picture of the Hoff before 6am. EEWWWWW!!!! And, I admit, I didn't read the whole thread, but since I noticed another rocker... QUIET RIOT! Woot! Cum On Feel the Noise....:coolgleamA:
  10. Good Lord are we twins seperated at birth??? ROFLMAO. I've actually thought of doing the Victor/Victoria thing for Halloween before too since I am built like a linebacker.
  11. OK, so my surgeon isn't having me do a pre-op diet. I was thinking that maybe I should do it though. It's my thought process that I'd rather be used to the taste and the routine of the liquid diet BEFORE I go and get the surgery. (Plus a little weight loss before hand couldn't be too bad either, right?) Do y'all think I should?:confused2: (I was going to go on ahead and do the full two weeks, so I'd be starting it on the 1st.) Thanks in advance!!!:coolgleamA:
  12. One my REALLY CLOSE girlfriends got banded last June. She said EVERYONE has that fear and it's perfectly normal. However, she said that if you overeat with the band you'll pay for it and it'll be something you won't do again. She said after she got banded the desire to overeat wasn't there anyway and she doesn't miss all the food like she thought she would and that most people are like that.
  13. MY honest opinion would be to do it after your vacation. It's going to be VERY difficult to find what you'll need for your diet at that point in time down there and, well, most airlines are starting to charge to take more than one bag and you'll get charged for having a bag that's too heavy. (And I'm talking some good $$$ there. Minimum of $50.00 for a heavy bag!!! Liquids add up FAST in the weight of a bag.)
  14. Thanks y'all!!! Here it is a few days later and I am STILL psyched!!! And YAY to former Wildcats! (Class of 1993 here.):wink2:
  15. YAY!!! How exciting for you!!!:huh2:
  16. HEY!!! I'm another Tucson gal! (Well, Marana really.) I saw that someone else also lived here in Continental Ranch. WOOT! I'm a scrapper and was just told a couple weeks ago about Pages in Progress. It's ABOUT TIME that there's a store out our way! (Got a little old driving out near El Con just to go scrap on Friday nights. lol) Are y'all still considering a get together??? If we wait until the weather's warm I'd even be willing to host a pool party for us! lol. I'm getting banded on the 14th with Dr. Chaisson.:huh2:
  17. I know this post is kind of old, lol, but I wanted to say HELLO! I live in Marana just outside of Tucson! I'm getting banded May 14th down here. Just wanted to pop in and say HELLO to a couple other Zonies!
  18. I was told I'd be in overnight too. The BIG bonus for me is that my parents said they'll keep my son for me for a few days so I can rest up. YAY! No toddler chasing for a few nights.:smile2:
  19. First off..CONGRATULATIONS!!! I have to agree with Yvonne and Angela. It sounds like this person may not be the healthiest person to have around in your life. If he's always going to see you as the fat girl, he'll always treat you as the fat girl. This is going to be BAD after your surgery. You need people aorund you who will support you 100% without making you feel bad about yourself when you're doing something so great!!! Sometimes our friends are meant to only be with us for a short time to teach us something about the world or ourselves- IMHO it sounds like he's one of those friends. GOOD LUCK! I know you're going to do GREAT! (And knock MANY other deserving guys' socks right off!) Plus, I wanted to add this in: I was fairly in shape and looked pretty good when my DH and I got married. 11 years later I look NOTHING like the woman he married. He's told me before that he still sees me as the woman he married and nothing else. There ARE men out there who will love YOU for YOU, and nothing else.
  20. My suggestion would be to try a few different sites, INCLUDING the airline websites. Travel agents are also able to look up lowest fares with a few keyboard strokes. (Then if anything goes wrong you're not left fending for yourself with the airline, they can help you too.)
  21. I just added myself to the 14th. YAY!!! 22. I live in a suburb of Tucson, AZ. WOOT! (I like to say I'm a Hawaiian born, naturalized Texan displaced in the all beach/no ocean state of Arizona!!! lol)
  23. I want my old SCUBA gear to be too big! (Actually, I want to be able to look semi-decent in a BRAND NEW wetsuit! lol) I want to look like Emme did back in her heyday as a "plus size" model. (I said it like that because she was a TWELVE back then!) Actually, I'll be happy when I can just shop off the plus size rack at Target again. I'll be supremely happy when I can shop in the regular sizes!!!
  24. Hey y'all!!! I'm new to the board but am a May Flower too! (May 14th is my date. WOOT!) I CANNOT WAIT!
  25. They're actually not too bad to wear here during the summer. Now, if you're going to be outside all day then I wouldn't wear it. I did all the time under my work uniform and whenever I went out. The only time I was ever really miserable were the days when I was outside for more than 30 minutes and it was 118 and the storms were building up so it was humid. (Well, humid for us!lol) And yeah, they do suck you in a TINY bit, but they're more for smoothing you out. (PERFECT for that evil VPL and cellulite ook!!!)
