NZR reacted to FancyChristine15 in HELP: Gaining Weight After Only 6 months from MGB
@MGBinIsraelNo one was purposefully being offensive by their advice or even by asking if this was a hoax. You posted your diet, which is very high in sugar and carbs, and then said you don't know why you're gaining weight. Unfortunately, we have had people come to this site with nothing better to do, and asked us ridiculous questions or just tried to start fights, so we're a little protective.
You asked for advice, and you have been given advice by people who are successfully losing weight or who have successfully lost weight and are keeping it off, and all you've done is defend your food choices that are causing you to gain weight. Take our advice or don't. All we can do is give advice, but you have to choose to accept it and do it. Best of luck to you.

How’s everyone doing post op. I had the surgery on the 16 th and am back to work tomorrow. Probably could’ve gone back last week but decided not to. Am glad to have the break. I lost 4kg in the week following surgery but not a single pound had come off since. So frustrating. Anyone else’s experience this? I wasn’t expecting to stall so soon

NZR got a reaction from FancyChristine15 in Was there a pivotal moment that made you say I’m doing this?
I fell down one night into my hand and the shock smashed my elbow in about a dozen pieces. It was a simple fall which I am sure would not have had the same result had I been smaller. No doctor will admit that though, but that was the final straw that made up my mind.

NZR got a reaction from WellsK1959 in January surgeries?!
I’m in the waiting room waiting for surgery today. The doc was talking about hernia repair, adhesion removal and scar revision from an old battle wound. No longer excited, more like terrified.

Thanks for the well wishes. I am sitting in hospital at pre op doing nothing but waiting for a needle to go into my belly before I can go home. Hate needles at the best of times but why in the belly....????

Humor is a good friend to take with you before, during and after your surgery. My surgery ended up being around 5pm. The patient before me had unexpected complications and her surgery lasted 6 hours instead of 2.
At least your laundry will be done when you get back home. And Netflix will be waiting too. Isn't it amazing how a good (or even a not so good) movie can help you cope with nervous tension?
I don't know you, but I'll be wishing you... and the other poster on this thread... the very best tomorrow. Promise to update us as soon as you feel able. OK?

Venting*** sorry
So i'm in several other online support groups right. And i've started volunteering at my local surgery center support group too.
But lately in 2 of my other online support groups i've been seeing a ton of negativity and body shaming smaller sleevers/ by passers. It's so rude to me.
I just feel so bad for anyone that has to go through that. Someone recently posted something about people being in the 200's not needing wls, and that they should not post their before and afters.
First off, aren't we all having the same struggle? Both physically and mentally.
Secondly, nobody really knows another person's reasoning behind their decision. If your insurance is paying for it, it is because they are obese and possibly have other co morbidies. So i'm all for any and anyone feeling like they need to make a change to keep the weight off and get healthier.
I just think some people should attempt to be a bit more open minded or just not say anything. This post i'm referring to literally started a cyber war, which is so crazy to me. Nobody would ever judge someone for being much larger and deciding to go down the wls route...just saying.
I think everyone should feel welcomed and supported.

What I also find difficulty understanding is that for anyone who has dealt with being overweight--especially during some point in childhood--has dealt with discrimination and bullying. I guarantee it. No matter how funny or charming you are, the other kids will and do make fun of and exclude because you are different from them. So why not be kind to all? We know the pain of being the object of ridicule.
It's so easy to tear someone down. It's much harder to build a person up. Or rather to be a supportive force, rather than a destructive influence in someone's life.
I also second the part of how interwoven obesity and mental health are. It's a chicken/egg conundrum.
Great post girlie and great comments/observations to all!

One thing we don't talk about is the link between mental health issues and obesity.
https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/758035
Everything from the biology of some mental health conditions contributing to extra weight....to behaviors (lack of sleep, poor impulse control, addiction, emotional disregulation)...to the weight gain side effects of meds used to treat them.....a massive number of folks with mental health issues are heavy.
Not to imply we all struggle with mental health issues....but a big chunk of us probably do.
Put a population prone to mental health issues together in a room...and it might get interesting.
I absolutely agree with cocojay on all points. We should make efforts to always be kind and try to live and let live.
It's important to keep in mind that posters here and on all weight loss message boards might be suffering from mental health issues that limit their self awareness, emotional regulation and tact. Not playing apologist for crappy behavior....just sayin....there's a reason. Having a good reason for behaving like a turd doesn't absolve you from accountability, though.

NZR reacted to mousecat88 in Have you purchased any goal clothing for after surgery?
I just so happened to save a bag of business skirts from when I was a size 12 a few years back. I'm a 22 now, so those are my goal clothes! I hope to get to a size 10, ideally. I just can't wait to start purging my "fat" clothes. I hate all of them! lol!
