Today I know someone is having WLS. Father order the doctors hand, give him or her a clear mind that he or she make operate with precision and no mistakes. I declare miracles in the healing of every incision down to the smallest stitch. I declare nurses and staff that will do the work and will of The Lord that your name be glorified. Peace beyond understanding for our minds and endurance to our spirits for this is first of the best days of our lives.

The prayer.. Lord we love you and you're Our Father. We can and will do all things through Christ who gives us our strength. We declare that the decision we had made lines up with your will and that you continue to be the healer and helper that your are. Everyone under going surgery or have had surgery will have a steady recovery. We declare no leeks, dehydration, healthy mental attitude, and strength to endure. In Jesus name. Amen :-)

The way the PA in my surgeon's office put it is that you have to experiment and find what works for you. There are some things that your body will struggle with for no apparent reason.
The first solid food I ate was tuna fish with some Greek yogurt and a little bit of salt/pepper. You eat slowly, in small bites with great chewing and wait to see what happens. I know this sounds weird, but I know I am generally okay with a food if I can burp. When a food doesn't work for me, it feels like there is a manhole cover over my stomach and the food feels like it backs up on me until I vomit. But if I am burping, then air is moving through the system and things will be okay.
You will find there are foods that you tolerate that you don't enjoy (chewing watermelon down to a pulp is a deeply unpleasant experience). You will find some foods go down easy (for me, tuna fish, sauteed spinach and/or ground beef all go down fairly easily). You will find some foods that you can handle, but your stomach lets you know that it doesn't enjoy breaking them down (for me, grilled chicken, white rice).
The minute that your stomach indicates that it is full or it is having trouble, put down your fork and stop. It's not worth pushing it.

Go into this with the attitude of "I am going to try this, I am going to listen to my stomach, I am going to do the big three [slow, small, & chewed] and we will see what happens." Solid food is not something to be scared of.

2 days post op and feeling so blah! Nothing sounds good or interesting to do, see or eat. No trouble with drinking my shakes and Water so that’s a blessing I guess. Not sure why I’m feeling so down.

Hey everyone! I’ve been stalking these forums for months as I’ve been preparing for my surgery. This is my first time actually posting.

I had my gastric bypass done 10/13.
    I’m down 13lbs in 8 days.

It’s been rough to say the least! Even drinking Water makes my belly feel so gurgly and sick.

But I’ve not had any issues keeping fluids down, so I know I’m better off than so many who get actually sick.

    Hi all,
I had my VSG on 16th October in Vietnam! I am British and have been working here for several years. I took a long time to research and find a well qualified and experienced surgeon (as bariatric is not as popular a surgery here, as the need is less.) I am really happy with my surgeon and care from the hospital, but i’m struggling a little with the nutritional info due to language barriers. U like the US/UK/Aus etc, I can’t simply buy “products” off the shelf as they don’t exist here. Everything is going to need to be made from fresh.

Anyone keen on chatting this through with me would be so welcomed. Just found this community and it seems awesome!

Hope you’re all well pre/post op.

    Maria xx

Hello Teri...I'm scheduled for the Sadi on Oct. 25, 2021...are you on a liquid diet . ? I'm on week 2 of it..I am doing ok I guess, I think I get disgusted with the choices (or should I say lack of) so I opt to not eat anything because nothing thrills me....How are you doing with this if you are going this lovely route..
Long story short...I have tried it all..and this is my last chance to Onederland....I've had the Lapland that was really horrible when I had to carry a Barf bag with me everywhere...ofcourse junk food went down good. Didnt loose a whole bunch. Had that removed...got the sleeve , felt great but didn't loose a real lot with that either ..had it checked, not stretched...just my luck...anyhow...Dr. says this is my last resort....not sure if it can happen..got alot of adhesions and lost some small intestines from previous misfortune....but will see when he looks...I pray it can happen for me..
And guess that's my story in a nutshell..
I'm from Maine...relatively healthy for my age...tired of being this big...
I wish you the very best with your surgery on the 25th...saw you with the same date so grabbed the opportunity...Waiting in Maine

terigetshealthy reacted to Sunnyway in 1990 RNY revision at age 73
Thanks. I didn't know that a revision was even remotely possible until I met a man just before the pandemic started who had had an RNY revision prior to total knee replacement surgery. COVID blew it out of my mind until this past April. I then decided to follow up, learned I was a candidate, and am progressing through the program. I have just had a CAT scan, and will have a cardiology evaluation next week. If approved by the cardiologist, the papers will go to Medicare. My surgeon says I should be able to have the revision before the end of the year.
Despite losing 50 lbs pre-surgery, I am still over well 100 lbs overweight. Revision surgery doesn't work as well, but he thinks I can lose another 60 lbs, which would take me to 215. I would really like to pass 200. We shall see. My dream goal is 175.
For what it is worth, my surgeon says I am NOT too old for the revision. While the surgical part is complicated, the laproscopic incisions will be so much easier for recovery than the open surgeries I had previously.
Why don't you encourage your friend to follow this thread? I will update my progress post surgery.

Thank you for posting about your journey. I suspect my friend had a similar procedure 30 years ago but she refuses to look at a revision. I have tons of positive thoughts for you and this next part of your life! I’m 62 and my RNY is on 10/25. I can’t wait for the next part of my life to start!

    Hello,
I just had full bypass on October 6th. I am a week post op and feeling very good, just very hungry at times. I am on Clear Liquids for 1 more week. I have moments where I'm so hungry my stomach growls. I am pushing through. I wish you all success and hope everyone is well!
