Allergic to the glue and an acne explosion
I came home and had a horrible rash behind and on the shell of my ears? I used cortizone and benedryl, I luckily didn't have a reaction to the glue and bandages but honestly I was very surprised I didn't. It did pass - I put it down to my body reacting to the shock of surgery the only way it knows how - itchy rashes. ?

I never thought about a heart rate monitor - thank you!

How sweaty, out of breath should I be.
So I have never been a big fan of working out (obviously) so I really just don't know if what I'm doing is enough. I am just beginning and wondering if what I am doing is enough. I have a magnetic resistance recumbant stationary bike - I do about 25-30 mins per day. I don't sweat, I am only slightly out of breath but I DO feel it in my legs and butt afterwards, maybe even the next morning. Is this enough? any opinions or advice is welcome.

When I went for my surgery, I wish I brought/had......?

I thought it would be more clear...
Very well thank you! I’m heading into my third week of purée food and after a two week stall the scale is moving again. No stomach issues for a while now!

It was a good week but tapered off by 10 days

I am, feeling pretty good and able to eat many more things than last week. Everything gut-wise is calming down. Thanks for asking!

Is my experience atypical?
Thank you I do feel better. It was a rough couple of days.

I’m R N Y as well and I definitely had a swallow test. But I really hope you find a quick answer. I’m feeling better today- but I’m going to stick to protein shakes today.

Frustr8 did you do ok on the post op swallow test and then developed stricture after?

I thought it would be more clear...
Today I’m 6 days post op and I had an AWFUL afternoon. Stomach cramping, gas, nausea for hours. Pre surgery it never occurred to me that I would feel awful and not really have a particular reason for it. I figured that just about everything but protein shakes give me diarrhea at this point but I’d been slipping in some yogurt and cream of wheat now and then. Today I had a bit of yogurt and I’m dealing not with diarrhea but all I described above. I have no clue what changed- or even if it was the yogurt. Today was the first day I went out on a long car ride and a trip to the pet store- could it be that I physically overdid it? Anyway, I really hope this clears up soon but I might never know why it happened so I can avoid it again. Frustrating!

Oh so sorry @Frustr8! That sounds awful. I hope soon that they’ll find a good answer for you. Keeping you in my thoughts

Is my experience atypical?
I had surgery on Monday, it took 4 hours, I spent two nights in the hospital. I was “up and walking” on Monday night but it HURT to do it!! I’m home now and sore. I guess I thought this would be the norm, but there are so many people on here that were so much less affected by surgery- out of the hospital hours later and almost no pain reported. I had no complications but this was HARD. how many other non-super humans are out there?!??

Diabetic Questions
I was off 3 of my 4 diabetes meds at discharge from the hospital. I’ll probably always have to be on metformin but I’m ok with that!
-
Don’t over pack! You most likely won’t use anything you bring!!
Oh my gosh thank you all for posting this - I'm going in Monday and I needed to hear this!!!!

Nurse's Strike
Good news - whether they strike or not I am unlikely to be affected by it - they have to give 10 days notice from the day they choose to strike and I am only 5 days away! Whew! Now I won't whine about THAT anymore. Cant guarantee I won't be whining about something else though....

Nurse's Strike
They don’t know. The situation is ever changing at the moment. Mostly I was crabbing about it.

Nurse's Strike
I have no idea if my surgery, which is scheduled for Monday the 24th, will be going ahead. I am so disheartened.

I tried a diet coke today...
You're wrong here's why - and by claiming i'm somehow lazy to ask for evidence of a claim is wrong. Asking your opponent to prove YOUR claim is a very ineffective strategy to win a debate or to shut up an "opponent"

I think people came for you because you were rude. No one said you couldn't have your own opinion, you just have to face consequences when you are rude. That's life.

If you make the claim, you need to provide the evidence. That's how logic works.

Swallow test before leaving hospital?
Oh whew! I was worried - but I think I can do that! Thank you!
