I have been praying about this, and really feel led to do it.
I have been criticized for sharing my faith in Jesus Christ on this website, I truly do respect others feelings because it certainly is their right to believe or not to believe, even God does not force one to believe in Him, it must be of one's own free will.
I feel deeply that there are some on here that would love to be prayed for, before surgery, during surgery and after surgery, so here's what I am willing to do, if I can be of some comfort to anyone, please email me at brotherron98@gmail.com
I assure you that I do have a personal and close relationship with the Lord, he does and always has answered my prayers, and I'm sure as long as I walk in his ways, he will continue to answer them, so please if I can help you in any way, email me.
    Sincerely, The Preacher.

SummerEssence reacted to Missouri-Lee's Summit in Absolutely no appetite.
I had a bypass on June 13, 2018. I have had virtually no appetite since day one. Appetite Zero.
I'm not even close to meeting my Protein and Fluid requirements. Dismal levels of both, really. I probably take in fewer than 250 calories per day as well. This is not on purpose.
The only thing I am able to maintain with any regularity is my Vitamin regime. And because I have more malabsorption issues as a bypass patient, I take the risk of deficiencies very seriously. Taking Vitamins is effortless. Eating not so much.
I've been told not to worry, so I am not stewing about my protein, fluid, or calorie deficiencies any longer. I've been assured that this is temporary. How long is temporary? How many more days, weeks, months?
My "problem" is not about gagging or restriction or any of the other reasons suggested. It is only my appetite. food is an afterthought. I only think about it in terms of "I guess I should probably try to eat something today."
It's not that I've forgotten the look, taste, and enjoyment I received from certain foods in the past... Chipotle's hard-shell chicken tacos with tomatoes/cilantro, sour cream, and extra cheese come to mind... but I just don't have the craving to follow through with cooking favorite foods or seeking them out (like Chipolte's where my daughter has always offered me with an endless supply of gift cards for an occasional eating-out treat.)
I'm a scratch cook. I can cook just about anything I put my mind to... but I have little interest in cooking anything now. I have an empty nest which means fewer mouths to feed. It's just my husband and me, so I mainly cook enough to satisfy his primitive "need to eat", but, for me, it's become a mindless chore and a bore.
I have replied to other posts on this forum with pretty much the same words... mainly because very little changes from day to day. I know there are those who struggle with something at the other end of the spectrum: intense hunger. I can understand the frustration with that problem, too. Perhaps I should feel "lucky" that I have no appetite. I don't actually feel lucky, but I'm willing to accept my lack of appetite as temporary and a version of normal.

SummerEssence reacted to Dr. Duc Vuong in Your Success Depends on your Attitude
Everybody will be successful with weight loss surgery in the short term, but what will determine your long-term success? I will go through 26 essential principles needed for a happy relationship with your surgery, starting with the letter A. In this excerpt from my new book, I discuss the importance of having the right Attitude.

    A

    Attitude

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”

    – Winston Churchill
A stands for Attitude. Your attitude will determine how you see the world, whether you see your glass as half-empty or half-full. Focus on having only a positive attitude towards your weight loss surgery. Realize that everything in your life needed to happen in order for you to have the life you have today, even the events that might have contributed to your obesity. Rather than viewing your life as “jinxed” or “cursed,” consider past events as lessons that had to be learned at the University of Life or at the “school of hard knocks”.
Your attitude will also affect your aspirations. If your attitude is poor, then your aspirations will likely be small, when the truth is there are no limits to your aspirations. Most people have aspirations, but their aspirations are usually so small and uninspiring. Stop setting “realistic goals.” Instead, why not see how high you can fly? Like the renowned motivational speaker Les Brown said, “Shoot for the stars, so if you fail, you might hit the moon!” Stop staring into the bottom of that half-empty glass, and start drinking from the half-full glass of life.

    I’m one day out.
So far so very, very, very good! It all went so fast. I arrived at the hospital at 6.30am, by 11am I was recovering.
Being put under is realy a wonder, I remember they put the oxygen mask on, the anesthesiologist said she was putting the drug in, and then it all went dark, like somebody flipped a switch. Next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery.
I was fully awake by 1pm. Between 11am - 1pm it was hazy. I was bracing myself for the gas pain BUT to my delight, it was very manageable. None in my shoulder or chest, only upper stomach, and it wasn’t even that bad. I get painful bloating during period and I thought the gas pain would be something like that only more intense- NOPE. It was very manageable for me.
I dealt with it by sitting up on the bed, leaning forward while hugging a pillow and simply tap my back and neck gently to make myself burp a lot. The gas discomfort subsided quickly after burping and half an hour later I was able to lie on my back and get some rest.
It’s kind of weird that my doc didn’t get me on my feet right away as so many of you have said. I only started walking a full day after surgery but I was moving around in my bed alot without any issue. I could get up and down on my own and the soreness of the incision sites is akin to sore muscle after exercise. I had to take a peek at my tummy to confirm that they really did do the surgery because I really wasn’t in that much pain.
Overall I’m very happy with my experience. Currently there’s still residual gas discomfort and soreness on the incision sites but very manageable. If the gas moves I feel nauseated but it only lasts about 2 seconds every now and then. I’m just taking it easy. Starting Optifast soon.
P.S. Everyone on my team is very pleased. They keep saying the surgery went very successfully. They also seem happy that I was able to stick to the 2 weeks pre-op liquid diet which has seen me drop from 104.5kg to 97.9kg on the day of surgery, which might have contributed to the success of the surgery. Looking back to those 2 weeks of hell, I’m glad I stuck it out, now I am filled with a sense of accomplishment so lesson here: stick it out, folks! You won’t regret it

SummerEssence got a reaction from Frustr8 in Self Pay Surgery Requirements
Hi Kmartin6168, I am self pay and my insurance wouldn't cover me either because my BMI was 35.2 and I do not have any Comorbodities so I paid $16,45.00 Upstate NY, although I am self pay my doctor still wanted clearance from my PCP, he required a EGD to check heart, Endoscopy (due to past Reflux issues) because I have in the past suffered from Acid Reflux, and a mini physical and labs. I just finished the last part today and I go visit my doctor again on the 22nd of September to go over everything which, I already know was party good because most of the physicians and others I did see was able to let me know right away all was well, even my labs came back today however, I don't know how to read that stuff meaning the percentages or levels rather, I guess I could call my sister and ask her since she's a doctor but, I know its all good I'm in pretty good health other then my weight issues.

My 1st visit with the Surgeon was July 25th and at that time the doctor told me his only concern was my Endoscopy and labs which I know already the Endo was good the doctor that did that told me and I could compare my labs from past labs I've had I guess but I think the labs will be fine everything else I know was good. My surgery is scheduled for September 7th.

I was not required to see a Psychiatrist, nor was I put on a extended wait or diet only have a 3 day pre-op diet. But to me he required a lot of the things they insurance would require, but overall he feel I'm a good candidate and said he would do it as long as those main two things were good along with my EGD which was.

I agree with itsonly if the PCP gives you a problem switch it’s your body and your life and I don’t think you should have to suffer or get illnesses to get what you need because of his personal opinion.
