AggiG got a reaction from Vsg_redemption in Hello I'm a newbie here
Welcome Christian. I am going through the pre-surgical regimen. As of tomorrow I have 2 months left before my surgery will be scheduled. Good luck (you won't need it, it's not too bad). I wish you happiness.

I am a 62 y/o housewife who loves her husband and children very much. I am waiting for 2 months to pass so I can be scheduled for surgery. I trained as a Medical Assistant but have never been hired. After surgery I really want to be able to walk long distances with my husband and pup Echo, do a little traveling. I am looking forward to a much healthier life with my family.

So I was sleeved on June 25th of this year. My starting weight was 410. Fast forward to present day and I am now weighing 325 (thank you thank you lol). The fact that I am 2 months and 2 weeks out and down 85lbs already is mind blowing to me. Another 15 and I'm at -100lbs (my math skills are superb today lol). My concern though is, is this normal? I see many post on here and of people who are just months out as well and they haven't lost as much weight as I have (I'm not trying to toot my own horn here). I checked with my surgeon and he said all is well, I checked with my nutritionist and she says my diet is fine, my intake is where it should be and all my lab work looks fine. My surgeon says it's most likely due to my activity levels. I am very honest with my team, I let them know on how often I slip up, have drinks and foods I shouldn't but at this point even they said they dont even know how I am where I am but to just keep doing what I'm doing. I'd love to here some input or if anyone else is experiencing the same. Hope you all are having a great day!

Welcome! I have learned so many valuable things from the discussions on topics that I wouldn't even know to ask. I check with my Dr on specific or major issues but other than that I refer to the chats. I hope you find there's a wealth of information and some great folks on here.

Just need to relax. It was easy to gain the weight but will be a struggle at times to lose it. Don't be in a hurry and do what the your surgeon tells you. It will come off

Baby food is a pureed food, so it is ok to use. Just have to watch the sugar and sodium. But it's fine to use. We were advised we could use them if we wanted to.

AggiG reacted to kristy2671 in How do you get in enough fluids and Protein post op?
    Hello everyone!

I'm new to this forum (well I've been registered and lurking since my surgery) and am 9 days Post Op (surgery date 8/10/18).

I am having a very very hard time with getting in my fluids and Protein Shakes. I think I'm having issues with knowing how to "pace" or "sip" I tried having some Soup (butternut squash like pureed) and I felt like I over ate each time, same with chicken broth I think I might sip on it too fast? I try to sip Water throughout the day and I get nervous that I'm going to go too fast or take too much or do something wrong to my baby stomach. I have already been to the dr once for IV fluids and a B 12 shot and I don't want to have to do that again but it's so hard for me (I practiced before surgery and everything!) I feel good otherwise but the not eating or drinking enough leaves me tired walking up stairs or from the kitchen to the living room. I just now reintroduced myself back to taking my Iron pills, and heartburn pills. I keep forgetting to take the Multivitamin and Calcium because I'm always trying to sip water and get my Protein shakes/'foods" in so my dr gave me permission to order the Patches.
I want to do things right and not mess up but this part is harder than I thought! If anyone has any tips/tricks they can offer I would be most grateful! I have an app that tells me to drink every 15 minutes but I still can't get 64 oz in.
    Kristy

When I told my older (and wiser) sister she was all for it but asked me a few questions first about it I was sure and why I thought I needed to have this surgery. When I explained that I had thought long and hard on this (about 16 years worth) she is behind me all the way. She herself had Gastric Bypass quite sometime ago and has done a great job at keeping her weight off. Now, my younger sister isn't all for it not sure why exactly but she gave her opinion and I explained why I wanted to do this. Haven't spoken to her about it since.

    So I started at 304lbs ( 21' 10 ) for the uk'ers and blimey did I feel every pound!
I have lost steadily and I am now 245lbs (17' 7!) so very chuffed, and cannot believe how much my life has changed.
Here are a couple of before and afters, one at my heaviest and the other, two days ago for clarity.
I can't really see a massive difference myself but others have told me they can definitely see it, can you?

I'm not a T1 I am a T2 but I am insulin dependent. Our plan is to lower my insulin in-take the night before I start my 2 week liquid diet. Once the surgery is done we will go from there.

I haven't had my surgery yet but have tried baby food, it's a little bland so my may have to season it just a little but thought that was a good idea too.
