  1. :welcomeB: Welcome to Londoner, REEIZBOOJE, marz88, karma2, cathmo!! It's great to have you all part of the May Crew. This is growing into such a wonderful large group....we will be able to learn so much from each other. Lisa ~ Sorry to hear you have to cancel your surgery, but I can understand why your kidneys take top priority. :cry Way to go Deann!! :eekB: You have done a super duper job on your pre-diet!! Let us know what their reaction was after you find out how much you lost. I can't believe May is almost here. How are you feeling about the whole thing? sleepyjean ~ Bless your heart!! I hope your feeling better. I am so excited and can hardly wait until the 26th, but I bet I feel just like you as the date gets closer. I think your emotions are normal. This is a huge step, but you are not alone!! Hang in there sweetie and keep us posted!!
  2. Oh my....I just love all these babies!! I can't remember a time in my life that I haven't had a pet. I hope my kids say the same thing. My first poodle lived to be 17.5 yrs old. They are like children. :eekB: I want to see more........
  3. I found out Fri that my surgeon recommends the Flinstones Complete along with the Viactiv Calcuim.....just as was recommended here. Here's an e-mail in part that I rec'vd back from Viactiv regarding the missing Iron. Thought it was a nice response and interesting.
  4. I'm with you Tricia! Two pounds are harder to come by than I thought. I really am trying, but I wasn't so prepared and I don't have many good choices in the house. I'm preband and have started my shopping. It's time for things to change around this house. This is a good start. I'm not giving up yet, this is just the beginning! :eekB:

Hmmm....did someone say peanut butter & chocolate? :eekB:
  6. O.K. Here is the fuzzy members of our family. This is Malley. She was named after Malley's Chocolates in Cleveland, OH. This is Malley and our kitty Gracie #1. I swear this kitten had ADHD!! We had to find her a good home where she could be with someone that had the time to train her. She was very HIGH maintenance. This is Gracie #2. The boys liked the name. :phanvan She is such a calm sweet kitty and came from the local shelter. She is my baby.
  7. Molly ~ I feel your pain and understand. Oh, how I hate that for you. That is kind of how I grew up, except it was my mother. She always said I would never find a man if I didn't lose weight and that was at least 50, 60 or 80 lbs ago.....oh, I can't remember. She even brought it up as recent as 6 mos ago (I've been married nearly 7 yrs now) and I told her she was wrong, she proceeded to tell me that I married an overweight man and that's the reason I was able to find someone. Boy, did I jump her case. I don't take that crap from anyone, anymore. I stand my ground for what I believe in!! I told her I would trade 1000's of skinny men for the prince charming I married. I don't even deserve this man. He is so wonderful!! I have come to realize she speaks out of her own fears and insecurities. A lot of what she has said to me in the past are personal issues within herself and have nothing to do with me. I think you can understand what I'm saying. Understand, my entire family is overweight and my mom has been all MY life except for one time when she was taking these horrible diet pills back in the early 80's that are probably illegal now. Just today as I was talking to her about my band, she said she was so glad I was getting rid of the "junk" b/c my son needed it out of the house more than anyone. WHAT?? This is after she told me she had chocolate donuts. He will turn 4 yrs old in July. Here's his pic...he is the one on the left. He weighed almost 10 lbs when he was born and has always been in the 90 percentile, which means he is not fat or overeating, he's just a big boy. Not to mention he has weighed around 50-53 lbs (which is large for his age) for almost a year now and is getting taller and only gaining very little weight. My child will NOT endure what I did as a child and "grandma" will never get the opportunity to make his feel the slightest guilt over his weight. I will protect him from that with all that is within me. Not matter how good the intentions are, that is my child and I don't ever what him to go through what you and I have experienced. It is just wrong for any child to go through this. Parents and grandparents have a tremendous responsibility to protect and love their children. Sometimes the love comes in different ways. Sometimes the love can turn to hurt. :cry That is when we pick ourselves up and realize we don't have anything to be ashamed of. YOU ARE SPECIAL & YOU DESERVE TO BE TREATED AS SUCH!!! :clap2: God bless you for sharing this and I'm sorry if I've hi-jacked. I guess this is on my heart tonight. BTW, I do love my mother dearly and we talk several times a week. She has taught me to be a strong woman along with many other wonderful things that are too many to mention. :biggrin1:
  8. Hi Susan ~ Congratulations!! I'm glad to hear everything is going well so far. I hope you get over that sleepiness by tomorrow so you can watch the race. Please forgive, I can't remember your driver. For some reason, I'm thinking it's Jr. He's favored to win you know? Here's to a quick and speedy recovery.
  9. Here's a great link regarding protein drinks: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?p=208130&highlight=isopure+protein#post208130 I'm not supposed to have caffeine per doc orders, but I don't know how I'm going to do without my coffee. Does anyone else have this issue?
  10. Thanks for the laugh.....I will be the same way. It's like saying goodbye to an old friend. :phanvan I wish you the very best on Monday. You will be in bandland b4 you know it. :biggrin1: seminole ~ What kind of Isopure are you using? I bought the premixed kind and I am pleased to say I love it. The only thing is that mine has 40 g of carb, 160 calories, and made with sucralose. I wished you could have seen my DH's face when he tired it, :heh: he was quite entertaining. I thought it was a bit pricey at $2.24 a bottle, but at least I don't have to mix it. GNC doesn't offer it online so I guess you can only buy it in the store.
  11. Hi Cathy ~ Welcome to LBT!! This is a great place to call cyber-home. I hope your knee heals quickly. May 17th will be here b4 you know it. Come join us at the May group. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?p=211812#post211812 It's nice to share with those that are going through the same things at the same time. You can also learn a tremendous amount from the veterans here. Where would be be without those that have gone b4? I love them all!! :welcome2:
  12. Welcome to LBT Lauri!! Boy, you sure moved fast on approval and testing. How wonderful!! :clap2: Bless your heart for helping children!! I have 2 adopted nephews and 1 adopted niece. They all came from Russia. They are so precious and I get teary-eyed sometimes when thinking of what they have been through. I love to spoil them. You should come over and join the May Group....we would love to have you. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?p=211812#post211812 :welcomeB:
  13. Hi Stitchy ~ I was just researching this myself. The other day I bought 3 different flavors of the Isopure Zero Carb drinks at GNC. The lady told me she sells them to WLS customers by the case. They have 40 g of protein per bottle. She warned though that protein has a distinct flavor - you either love it or hate it. I'm going to give it a try b4 surgery. Also, here's a thread I was just reading: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=17644 Yesterday in my pre-op class, they recommended the Slim Fast Low Carb or the Adkins Advantage. I guess about 3 of these give you the daily amount of protein needed for healing. I still have not decided myself so I'm interested in hearing what others have to say. Good question. :clap2:
  14. Congratulations!! I can hear the excitement in your words!! I'm glad to hear you had such a great experience. Good job on the walking too. One thing they stressed in pre-op class was walking b/c of possible blood clots. Walk, walk, walk!!! Seems to be the theme. I hear it helps with the gas too. :biggrin1:

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea they even made such stuff. Being a chocolate lover, the smell would entice my cravings. :phanvan Better stick with cedar mulch. BTW, our chocolate lab is named after the famous "Malley's Chocolates"....her name is Malley, of course. Cheri ~ You are too much girl!!
  16. I trust your running some sort of virus protection like Norton and/or Zone Alarm. Try shutting your virus protection down to see if it solves the problem. If it does, go in and adjust it to use LBT as a "trusted site" or whatever verbiage they use. Hope this is helpful!! We want you on here and it's just not right to be thrown off!! :faint:
  17. Thanks!! I'll tell my DH I signed him up too....can't wait to see his face. :rolleyes
  18. Oops....sorry I didn't read the hole thing. Do I HAVE to list my weight? Really, I am honest. I will tell the truth. I'm even going to tell my husband about this and challenge him to do the same.
  19. I'm in this one!! I can finally do something where I don't have a list my weight....YEAH!! I can do 2 lbs. I need to do 2 lbs. I need this challenge. I am terrified of listing my weight and then my husband or family or in-laws seeing it. Oh my....I just can't go there yet. :guess
  20. You are a HOTTIE!!! Once again, you have a beautiful daughter!!! She is a special blessing and your band is too. Thank you for sharing your story and I love the pics. You are very inspiring to me and I hope to as successful as you.
  21. I'll drink to that!!
  22. Congratulations K@t!! I'm glad to hear today was better for you. I'm a huge wimp when it comes to pain....I understand. I wanted an epidural at 8 mos!! :heh: Your doing great!! BTW, you have a winner in your DH....what a man. :clap2:
  23. I love it....thanks for the link!! It reminded me of a pic I took last year of our magnolia tree. I keep thinking I should enter it in the monthly photo contest offered by our newspaper.
  24. Kim ~ I think it's wonderful!! It's something special to see that black on the track. The first race I ever watched was the one Sr lost his life. :cry Why are they qualifying on Sat this week? Anyone...Anyone :brick:
