First of all, it's always best to check with your surgeon. They are all so different. For myself, I don't wake up at that time b/c I usually go to bed between 2AM-3AM. I do however, eat something that is on my approved list if my stomach growls. This period of time is about healing and if I'm hungry, I eat. Wonder what other do.....interested in seeing more feedback on this....it's a good question.

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
:dance:CONGRATULATIONS!!:clap:Your excitement is spewing all over this post.....so wonderful to get that news!! :thumb: This next phase of the process will fly by. :bolt:Check the pre-surgery lists and join a group for whatever month you get your date.

Warning to everyone losing weight!!! Could happen to you!
I will definitely be on guard for this. Thanks for sharing and I'm so glad you are now on the road to recovery. I know my surgeon pointed this out several times during various consults & such. I guess it must be something they see a lot.

Glad to hear you are on top of things Diane. It's probably a good thing your DH suggested that. Now, take your meds and get some rest!! :kiss

aloe Vera Juice???
Bless Kathy's heart!! THANK YOU!! I wouldn't be without this stuff either thanks to her. I bought it b4 banding and I am so thankful I did. The day after my surgery, I got sick (just water and not really a PB I guess). I was still in the bathroom and I sent my DH to get the aloe vera juice. It was very soothing. I bought the berry flavor and it's not bad. I told my surgeon I had taken it & he said that was a good thing to take. :biggrin1: I do have it once a day since then.

Did God make you rich?
Even though OT funny perspective Kare.....the again, if I wasn't fat, I wouldn't have met all you wonderful people!! LBT is a blessing to me. Jon ~ You said it better than anyone!! Thank you for that testimony. Let me share a quick funny story then back OT (sorry Amy). My son came to me last Oct wanting to ask Jesus in his heart. We talked, read the bible, then he prayed. Afterward, he said, "Is Jesus in my belly now?". He was only 4 yrs old, but at least he's heading in the right direction.

Did God make you rich?
Wow...I never expected to come to LBT today and find myself researching my bible. I love it!! It shows the power of God and the impact He has in all our lives whether your profess to know Him or not. I wished I could say I know the bible as well as you. I have to research and look for some of the answers I know in my heart to be true. We are indeed living in the NT times, but that doesn't mean there aren't truths we can learn from the OT. I don't think the OT, especially the scripture I quoted indicates wealth is important to God. It's what one chooses to do with that wealth. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Matthew was a wealthy man. Read Matthew 19:16-30 (contains a verse quoted several times here). It demonstrates how Jesus asked a rich ruler to sell all he had & follow Him....the ruler wouldn't do it. This also demonstrates that everyone should be treated equally rich/poor mighty/weak. Which does make it very say what Wheetsin experienced. Like Amy says here, it's not whether we are wealthy, but what we do with what he have....the fruit of our labor. In my family, I can honestly say we are not wealthy, but we are blessed. Yes it is complicated and not black & white. I love the solid fundamental teachings of Dr. James Dobson. I'm sure he lives a comfortable life and enjoys many luxuries I do not. He has worked hard and is reaping the fruit of his labor.....which I'm sure some of which is monetary. Does that mean that he's worked harder than me or my DH? I don't think so. I think it's all part of God's will in your life.

Did God make you rich?
First of all....great thread with deep thoughts. I like a discussion that makes you think. I don't think the answer is black and white. Yes or no. I can honestly say from personal experience that my family has an easier time with all challenges we face, including financial, when we are in church and doing the will of God. I am not sure I can really explain why this is true, but to me the key is the "Will of God". God has never failed us and has always provided as many others have shared. After looking for a church for over 2 yrs and not attending regularly, we have finally found our church home. My DH and I both knew it was for us.....this is our new church home without doubt. I can tell you that we are so excited about getting involved and being a part of this church. In addition, we have some positive things that are happening in another area of our lives. Something we've been waiting & praying about for quite some time. Why is it things seem brighter now? I can only say it's God's will for us. Here's a couple of passages I would like to share: II Chronicles 1:11-12 [11] And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: [12] Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like. So yes, God does bestow riches upon some. How do we answer who will have this privilege? There isn't an answer to this. Only God knows. Does that mean if you attend the mega church or tiny church and serve that you are doing the "will" of God and will be rewarded with riches. I personally don't think so. I will never fully understand why God does what He does. Maybe one day we I see Him face to face, I will understand. :biggrin1: Psalms 73:12 really the entire passage talks about this topic, but for the sake of time and space, here's one verse. Here's the link for the entire passage: http://www.hti.umich.edu/cgi/k/kjv/kjv-idx?type=DIV1&byte=2190116 [12] Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. There are rich/wealthy people all around us that are not doing the will of God. Some of them know Him and others do not. So is this clear as mud? Again, I don't think it's black and white, yes or no.

Mr. Alex....What About An Exercise Board
Excellent idea!! I vote for Teresita to be our leader!!! She is the best motivator ever....thanks for your encouragement Teresita. :clap2: I know, we don't need a leader for this, but just wanted to take this opportunity to thank her.

My Husband was approved today !!!!
Congratulations to your DH!! My DH is getting the band sometime next year. He still needs to start his 6 mos diet plan to get approval with insurance. I know what you mean....men can lose faster and easier than us girlies. Most surgeons do encourage the women to go first for that very reason. It will be nice for both of you to be on the journey together. I'm looking forward to it myself.

R U a NASCAR Fan...Let's Talk!
Karen ~ I am so jealous. What a trip that will be!! I would just be beside myself. Have you thought about taking some depends? :heh: Get pics and post them here. We will be waiting to see your adventure. It would be so cool to meet Mark & OH MY, Kasey. That commercial is my favorite. You better watch out b/c DeAnn may hide in your trunk. gochevy3 ~ Welcome!! We have a lot of Smoke fans here so you should feel right at home. You know, I didn't know Dale much b/c the first race I really watched was the one where he was killed. :phanvan Of course, I quickly learned so much about the greatest driver ever. I agree, Smoke does show some of his traits, although I feel he's calmed down some. I know Dale wouldn't stand for some of the crap that NASCAR dishes out with the rules as you go stuff. Glad to have you hear and so happy to have another Smoke fan!!

Trip2bme ~ I'll check on that rat scan...maybe I've been infected. :heh: Holy cow....40 lbs!!:faint:I bet you are just so thrilled. How could you not be? CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm proud of you!! Hey Diane, I hope your back on your meds regardless of what the shoulder pain turns out to be. That is, unless their too large. I hope not b/c it sounds like you need them. How were your vitals when your DH got home? I trust O.K. I'll pray for the pain to leave you. Keep us posted. So, your port is in the middle. I wonder how they decide where to put it? I think each surgeon is different. May be a good topic for a poll.

Potty-Training Boys???
I know what you mean with the underwear. My oldest always checks the sizes to make sure brother doesn't wear "his" stuff. Kids are so funny. Then again, both of mine are boys. You should get a pic of Emily wearing Andy's underwear. :heh: I bet that is cute & I could just see Andy's face all piled up with disgust....how dare she?

Has anyone heard from kim2bhealthy?
She checked in shortly after I posted this thread. I guess she had a reaction to the anesthesia and worst of all, the dry heaves. :faint: Poor thing. She put some details on the May thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16512&page=19. I'm sure she will appreciate your concern.

Potty-Training Boys???
So, how's the potty training going? I just wanted to bump this b/c Danny has been doing super, but wanted to share this funny thing with you. Now that Danny is potty trained, he thinks it's his job to wipe everyone's butt. He races us (mom & dad) if Bobby calls us to help him. He runs as fast as his little feet will take him yelling, "I'll do it, I'll do it". Then when they stayed with my parents for my surgery, grandma asked for some privacy in the bathroom. Danny....sitting the edge of the tub....just shrugged his shoulders and said, "I'm just going to wipe your hiney grandma". She cracked up. I sure hope this new fascination doesn't last.

May 2006 Band Crew
Diane ~ Some of that could be gas. Use the GasX and also put a heating pad in that area. I have been in my robe since surgery and have been really spoiled......part of it could be your doing too much. It doesn't hurt to call the surgeon though. I did on Mon and they said they suggested the GasX and heating pad. I no longer need the heating pad b/c it's getting better by the day. I think it could also be positioning during surgery since the left side of my neck was tight after I got into my room. Is your port on the left side? Mine is. It just dawned on me tonight that it could be all those muscles adjusting on the left side. What do you think....could there be a relationship between the two?

Whiskers On Kittens
Speaking of cats, I thought I might kill my cat after she about tripped me several times after my surgery. She was so glad to see me home that she followed me everywhere. Here's a pic I got today via e-mail. These cats a truly modest.

side sleeper
I've only taken naps on my side b/c I'm afraid one of my kids will hit my port at night.....one of them always ends up in bed with us. The first time was 2 days after surgery and like Sharon, I used a pillow for support. Today, 6 days post-op, I slept on my left side which is where my port is located.....again a pillow for support. It was great!!! :biggrin1:

Did you tell anyone before surgery, and do you tell people now?
I told everyone as well. Family: immediate & extended, friends, my son's teacher, church. A couple times I've had family members get quiet so I just changed the subject. My DH actually suggested it for both of us and I got to go first so he is 100% on board. I got some flack from my mom and even the day before she said she may call me back to talk me out of it. I told her to save her breath!! After my surgery, she said she was going to be jealous when I started losing a lot of weight.....now the truth comes out. It doesn't really affect me what others think or say. If they're talking about me, they are leaving someone else alone.

Thanks for the info justduckie....very helpful. :clap2: Scully0325 ~ How are you feeling? I trust your getting your water and protein. :biggrin1: GreatDame ~ I get really hungry sometimes too. I had Cream of Wheat this AM and it was really satisfying. My surgeon's post-op diet included a lot of what some say are mushies....they call it full liquids. Oh, I also had refried beans from Taco Bell last night and I thought I was in heaven!! :hungry: I did get light-headed one day and I think it was from lack of protein. I drank my Isopure and felt so much better. kato ~ Congratulations!! Get used to the gas for a while.....I'm still fluttering around. Trip2bme ~ What a super buy on that Magic Bullet. :clap2: The one I got from Wal-Mart is an "express" but I don't see any difference with the one's on E-Bay....hmmm. Wished I had looked a little better on E-Bay.

Happy Birthday 3Loves
I would brag about you too!! My mom was a little more simple (fried chicken in an iron skillet), but we always had friends over and enjoyed big family meals. There were 4 of us kids so we could fill a table. I can't tell you the number of times my mom would feed most of the football team on a Fri night. So many wonderful memories at the kitchen table. :biggrin1: And dad would sometimes fix breakfast on the weekends. You make me want more kids. I can't wait for the next 2 yrs to fly by so we can consider getting pregnant. Sounds crazy at my age, but I love a full house......sometimes 2 preschool boys can sound like an army though.
