  1. I would take your surgeon's recommendation since you have acid reflux issues. It's possible that if you got sleeved that this problem would dissipate as you lose weight—but that's definitely not a guarantee. As far as dumping, there are some who have bypass who don't experience dumping. In the same regard, there are some who are sleeved who do experience dumping. I haven't had surgery yet (tomorrow!) so I can't answer your other questions, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to detail their experience ? Good luck with whichever route you go!
  2. During my final appointment we discussed the pre-op diet, as well as what to eat post-op. They also checked to make sure that I had the correct type of protein and vitamins. We also talked about specifics of surgery day (when to arrive at the hospital, time of surgery, where to park, etc.). They also did blood work and a chest x-ray. I was told that it would be 2-3 hours, but it only took an hour and a half or so.
  3. Good luck to everyone who has surgery tomorrow!
  4. Congrats on having your first consult! Dietician and exercise physiologist visits were covered for me since the hospital includes those in its program, but insurance didn't completely cover my psych exam because the psychologist the hospital uses is out of network for me.
  5. That far out I'm also expected not to be drinking shakes as much. Food is more dense so it keeps you more full than a shake.
  6. Sending good vibes your way for Monday!
  7. Did you find out why they originally didn't accept your psych clearance?
  8. That's great! Only a few more days!
  9. You're making awesome progress!
  10. My surgery was moved up a couple hours! Six more days!
  11. I was at Costco today so I picked up the Apple Melon flavor and it's pretty good—tastes like green apple candy!
  12. Congrats! Hope your remaining clearances go well.
  13. It's so dumb it makes me wonder if they're serious ?
  14. I'm required to take a multi with iron. @paulamelton If your surgeon has recommended one with iron, I would follow his or her recommendation.
  15. Good to know! I might stick with fruit punch, just to be safe.
  16. Congrats on getting a surgery date!
  17. That's one of the biggest reasons I'm doing this—I know that I could lose the weight without VSG because I've done it before. I've never been able to keep it off, though and I know that surgery will help with that. I'm on day 3 and it's okay. I get to eat 2 meals a day, so I haven't been hungry. It's actually the opposite; I don't have much of an appetite. So far I'm down 5 pounds.
  18. I put all the food I can have right now for my pre-op diet in a separate cabinet. That way, I don't have to look at all of the food I can't eat. Doesn't stop me from seeing the frozen burritos and pizza in the freezer, but it helps a little ?
  19. Hi all! I'm on day 3 of the pre-op diet and have to drink two bottles of Isopure on the day before surgery. Does anyone have any recommendations on flavors they like or didn't like? Thanks in advance!
  20. Good luck on New Year's! I'll be home, pretending my Crystal Light is champagne ? Eleven more days!!! I've never heard of gastric plication before; I just looked it up—good luck and congrats! Congrats! Me too; I'm mostly excited, but I've never been put under so anesthesia makes me a little nervous.
  21. Hey all! I'm on day 2 of the pre-op diet and it's going okay. My biggest issue right now is nausea. Because of the nausea, I don't feel like eating. I think that this is due to the sudden change in diet/lack of carbs, but I'm not sure—I don't think I'm sick because I don't have any other symptoms other than the intermittent nausea. Today and yesterday I didn't eat/drink everything I was supposed to. I'm going to try to get both meals and protein shakes in tomorrow (today I only got in one meal and a few sips of a protein shake).
  22. I was hoping to have one after dinner tonight and now I'm going to have to settle with some Crystal Light. I'm making a trip to the store just for them tomorrow ?
  23. I'm on the pre-op diet and literally just sat down from cleaning out the fridge and pantry! You also reminded me that I forgot to get popsicles at the store ?‍♀️
