I for one cant look at the cost overall but I can tell you one thing. I was diabetic for 12 years. My Insulin cost $3,000 for 90 day supply. I couldn't afford that so I cut back to ration it made it last 5 months. That was NOT good for me as you can imagine. LONG Story short. Since the surgery my diabetes is soooooooooooo much better I am just about at the point where they are going to declare me non diabetic. that you cannot put a price on . I would say. For the longevity of your health in years to come with it being better and not worse I would say what you will pay will far be worth it rather than consequences from a disease from being over weight

My 12 week appointment is tomorrow too. I was sleeved 4/27 and will be 12 weeks on Friday. Down 55 pounds since surgery.
70 pounds is fantastic! Congrats! Was that all post-op or pre-op combined?
    Good luck tomorrow!

I am glad you are taking care of yourself. It is good that you are at least saying out loud you hope you are ready for the surgery, that shows you are trying to do what you need to. Sorry to hear of your miscarriage . I will keep you in my prayers. Best of Health moving forward.

PRE -OP is hard for sure. YOU GOT THIS hang in there. IF you can go do something to distract you perhaps go to a park or place where folks are coming and going and people watch. Or go to the library for a while and dive into a good book, STOP watching/using TV and Social Media its all constant food advertising.
POST OP I dont know about others BUT there were NO cravings NO Hunger. Your body is relearning itself and your brain is saying OH that is New how about this.........or hmmm not much sugar or carbs in this body ...how about that................THE WORST WILL BE OVER BEFORE YOU KNOW IT and I mean this you will literally one day wake up and say OH MY GOD I FEEL FANTASTIC
Stay FOCUSED on better health, BETTER days ahead. we are in your corner. YOU CAN DO THIS

Hello everyone. I have been out of the loop for a while. Much success I am grateful for. 12 week mark since surgery lost about 65 lbs. My diabetes is almost non-existent.
I am in a bit of a rut lately . Feeling some blues I cant seem to shake. I think the reality of it being summer and not eating certain things or doing certain things finally got the best of me. I am trying to not let it get to me, but today is a bad day.

New to this app and these forums!
In 35 days I am having my GS surgery. I’m not so much as nervous for the surgery, I’m more scared I won’t wake up from the surgery and will die.
Back in April I had a miscarriage, I didn’t tell anyone about the miscarriage including my bf. Which lead to me becoming depressed and pushing him away. 2 weeks into April I had the opportunity come up for me to be able to get surgery, meaning my aunt had money from when my uncle passed. My depression has gotten worse since the break up. He’s already moved onto a new relationship.
I’m going to therapy. Trying a new church out on Sunday (haven’t gone since I was 17, I’m 30 now). Starting a yoga class tonight and I have deleted all social media off of my phone. I also have started to share with people close to me about my miscarriage.
I hope I am mentally ready for this in 5-6 weeks.
My pre-op appointment is on July 16th and my surgery date is August 16th. I have to do 4 weeks of the pre-op diet.

I totally know what you mean. I've been in the soft food phase for a week, but next Friday I'll be cleared to start a regular diet. Its scary eating things now because I'm afraid of pain, throwing up or some other unpleasant reaction, so I've relied heavily on Protein Shakes, Dannon Triple Zero Greek Yogurt, cottage cheese, and Soups. Tonight was actually the first time I had a clear indication that I needed to stop eating. I was having a homemade turkey and spinach meatball and maybe I was eating too fast or I didn't chew enough, but it felt like the bite I took was creeping back up my throat. I immediately said I was finished with dinner and luckily it all stayed down. Today was my one month anniversary from surgery, so to have avoided throwing up makes me feel like I'm doing something right.

For those who have been on the journey of the WLS for a while now, do you find yourself having any Snacks, or just sticking to just a meal plan. I was wondering about some healthy snacks that have Protein in them. Example Quest makes a baked chip with 22 grams of protein. Thought it may be something if I am in a social setting or the occasional movie etc. May be a better option than fat or carb heavy snacks that are often offered/served
    your thoughts ???

Two weeks after surgery I thought oh my goodness what did I just do. 4 weeks later now BEST THING I EVER DID
I wont lie, its hard work and each day isn't always sunshine and roses, BUT stay with it, do exactly what they tell you and before you know it you will feel so much better and its in a way you never felt before. Not feeling constantly hungry , not craving carbs or sweets and coming off 90% of my medication only 1 month after was my biggest victory.
Best of Health to you, no pun intended but if you gut is telling you go for it..........then listen to your gut

If I'm hungry yes, I'll try to go for Protein rich Snacks like nuts or yogurt or low calorie foods like plain popcorn or popsicles.

I snack on Kay's Naturals Protein chips and Snacks as well as Simply Protein snacks. I make my own Jerky, dried fruits, etc etc etc. Snacking with high protein and good fats is a great way to keep your metabolism up!

Have you tried 34 Degree crackers? I love them with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese. 4 crackers and 1 wedge is 57 calories.

OH GOODNESS I didn't mean to spark such a Diabetes uproar. OK I am diabetic I am 52 year old female who has been diabetic since I was 40. Since the Surgery ( 1 month ago ) I have been able to reduce by Insulin to less than 40 units a day ( from over 180 prior ). I was asking about Snacks as I didnt want to incorporate them too soon and was asking what others were doing. I have 2 outings next month to go to and I wanted to be prepared with maybe bringing something of my own I could snack on. etc I appreciate everyone's input thanks
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend .

two week post op I lost nothing, the third week here it was 30 lb loss. I had a lot of Fluid in my from the surgery , the Surgeon recommended no weighing yourself at least into the 3rd week, I see why. i agree with the other replies, stay hydrated and I dont know if this will help but my surgeon said, 6 weeks post op you are at risk of bursting/rupturing that new pouch. Dont eat until you feel full, just have 1/2 cup of food at a time and see how you do. He recommended more smaller amount of food during the entire day rather than getting too full at one time and stressing the pouch. Best of Luck ...keep us posted how you are doing

I love this, too! I don't do well with splenda or aspartame, but I get no ill effects with stevia. Another one that I really love is the True Lemon mixes. They are lemonades/limeades.

First of All YOU GOT THIS YOU ARE VERY PREPARED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many things you will expect to happen do and some happen you didn't expect........so basically, go with the flow, listen to your surgeon and health providers, YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While I was in the hospital I completely shut myself off of TV, any social media etc. I just had time to think and rest and concentrate on me. I was taking care of everyone else right up until my surgery ( 28 days ago ) and just being able to be at the hospital and "listen" to my body and understand what was going on was good. Stay Encouraged, you go this far YOU ARE GOING TO DO GREAT . Sending Blessings and Best Wishes.
