Ear plugs and a night mask-to help you sleep-hospitals are noisy places! Bathrobe so you are more comfortable when walking the halls. Lip balm too. Good luck!

innwtitdtity got a reaction from HELLCATT81 in Band to Bypass.....a few comparison questions!
I am only 6 days post op but with an unsweetened applesauce (1/2 cup) I am full. I never felt full with the band until it was too late. I tried to use the hiccup rule but that did not work either-I was still hungry and not satisfied. I am praying BP will be different for the long haul.

Today is my 4 month anniversary and I am down 37 pounds since surgery and 60 pounds from my highest weight- I could not be happier! I know others have lost more than me in the same time frame, but I am very happy with my weight loss this far- people have noticed but I have not received one of those shocking comments about loosing too fast or are you sick, etc. I continue to enter all my food in MFP which is very helpful. I sometimes struggle with getting all my Protein in, but I strive to hit 70 grams a day. Fluids are not an issue I hit the recommendation every day. I have not had any food issues other than I can't have oatmeal or cream of wheat for breakfast- my body is turning those items into sugar too fast and I end up running to the bathroom. Maybe someday but I am not pushing it. I have had a couple of mini stalls and I find that if I increase my calorie intake then I loose a pound or two. I also hit my 2nd short term goal of weighing less than my husband, finally! Working on trying to come up with another short term goal. Wishing you all the same success and good luck on your journey!

@@innwtitdtity congrats and I think your weight loss is awesome. I also don't want to lose too fast and would rather go at a steady rate. I have been working out and weight training to keep my muscle tone and still noticing my close much looser. I am happy with my pace so far and so is my surgeon.
Celebrate your anniversary, you have come so far!!

    @@innwtitdtity,
Congratulations! You are doing fantastic. I remember hitting that goal of weighing less than my husband who is overweight as well. Now I weigh less than my son who is a healthy weight.
Every time I hit one of those goals I get excited all over again!

Anything can be taken in, it just depends on how much work needs to be done. Depending on the clothing it can get pricey. I have a few suits that are fully lined. They would have to practically be remade to take in. It involves taking out the lining and readjusting both the garment and the lining. I'm going to dry clean them and sell them. On the other hand I have a few summer dresses that would be relatively simple to take them in. One is a sort of fit and flare style that can be taken in on the bodice and sides inexpensively.

Regarding the differences among each surgeon I am glad they are taking each individual into consideration when providing their guidelines-it makes me feel like they are considering the person and their situation and not just "this is what is done". Not everyone is the same...as we all know...

I had mine in revised on 3/10/15 and have no regrets! I go today for my 3 month follow up....very interested to see how my blood work is. I feel great and have been averaging 10-12lbs loss each month. The only food I can't tolerate is oatmeal and cream of wheat ...both on the approved list but no luck. Good luck!

Your prayers worked because they called today and told me that insurance approved it. I have my surgical consult, pre-op, and prep class 6/15 and should have my surgery 6/30. My birthday is 6/23 so this is going to be the best birthday present ever.

innwtitdtity reacted to Djmohr in What is your favorite high protium snack?
My top Snacks are: roasted pistachios or nuts in general, full fat cheese, beef jerkey and fat free milk.
I know some doctors don't believe in snacking but it helps me stay on tack all day.
I have a Protein shake when I get up which gives me a 30gr boost of Protein, the I have a yogurt with protein granola. That holds me most of the day until lunch which I then eat at about 1pm or sometimes a little later. I will have a protein rich lunch. Yesterday I had a delicious caprese salad with fresh mozerella. The a couple hours later I had 1/4 cup pistachios.
Then I had dinner about 6:30 last night.
My meals are typically very small but laden with protein and veggies and sometime fruit,

After three weeks post RNY, have lost many inches, also dipped into the skinny clothes. Over the last six months, started buying several sizes down in basic clothes (you know us country men, socks, underwear, jeans and T-shirts -- all we need) as a way to show myself that the surgery was going to get approved, and that the body would heal.
I also have saved some jeans over the years which were ordered too small. I have one pair from 1988! Brand new, but those will wait until fall!
I have on loose jeans that I could not get on pre-surgery. Wahoo! My wife got her skinny little arms all the way around me this morning!

The booklet I received with post-op instructions say 30 days, that's it.
    Here it is verbatim:
"Do not drink alcoholic beverages (beer, wine and liquor) for one month after surgery."
One year seems really extreme. I hardly ever drink so it won't be an issue for me either way.
