I'd like to get everyones honest statistics on length of band, and weight loss. Also if you'd like to give details of your loss, please do.

Well I guess there wasn't enough proof for them. I explained that my family has great history of heart disease, and that my father had his first quadruple bypass when he was 42, and then had his first heart attack at 48. So I expressed that I did not want to get to that point, thats why I wanted to stop it here. I mean my BMI is 38... ah duh... heart disease, high blood pressure, and BMI of 38... starting to see a problem..

I finally spoke to someone at United Resource, and they declined me for the band. She said I was "only" at a BMI of 37, and it has to be above 40. I told the lady, so what I have to gain more weight and have more problems for them to cover it... and she said "basically". GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.......................

so are you saying that the band is 14cc, but not filled to that size?

Please don't think I'm trying to spam on here, I just want to help. I know first hand how fustrating it can be when you want the procedure, and get declined by the insurance company. Yeah I'm starting to see that. But I'm on the mortgage sales side, so 100% commission isn't the easiest to take time off. But I hear you, I'll probably have to work from home for a week or so. I'm getting all excited.....ha-ha...:huh2:

No that was great. I checked on the web site and it shows the closest one is three hours away... so I don't know how thats going to work... but I'll figure it out. Here's a question for you, did the nurse ask why you were interested in the procedure, or how did you hear about it, or why your choosing this over the bypass? I'm just curious as to what their looking for in that department.

Yup I called today and they said I have to go through the United Resource Networks...Grr.... So I called them and they said a nurse would call me back within a day or so. Can you tell me a little about how the whole process went?

Thank you all. I should hear from my doctors office tomorrow to see what they think, and I'll take it from there. This weight is really starting to bother me, even my little daughter looks at me as fat... she's 6... so thats it, its time to make the change.

Thats good. So after being banded thats what we have to eat? (pure liquids?)

hmmm... well I guess my doctor could write some stuff up for me. I mean heart disease is a huge issue in my family, and I have high blood pressure. SOooo I hope that would be enough for them. Do you know how fast they'll approve or decline the procedure?

Hi all, I'm back on the road to getting banded again. Here's the story.. I was going to get banded a year ago, and I was going to be self paid. But right before the surgery I started having financial issues, and needed to call it off. Well I'm back and ready to go at it again!! Also in that time I switched companies, so I want to try and get them to approval the procedure first. So cross your fingers!!! :biggrin:

so how are you feeling? are you still just on liquids?

I'm in Florida, and I will keep you up to date. The office should be submitting for approval next week...... so we'll see:unsure:

So Wells is covering your procedure? Boy I hope so, I was going to have the procedure done last year as a self pay, but then decided not to spend the $18k on it.

oh sweet, I work at Wells and I'm just starting to look into this procedure. Which plan do you have through them?
