How long ago was your surgery?

Staying accountable and emotional eating
It sounds like you've got the right approach. Are you going to continue to see the psychtherapist for a while after surgery? I would. Best of luck on your procedure!

Can it be a secret?
If you want to keep it secret, tell NO ONE. My husband spilled the beans to his sister within a few days (she's a nurse) because HE needed support. (Don't discount this possibility). I had told my boss and a friend at work (she had had bariatric surgery and was kind of my inspiration and source of information). Well, she was hospitalized for an unrelated problem for several weeks and during one of her phone conversations with HER boss, she asked if I had had my surgery yet. She just wasn't thinking. I do understand, a month in the hospital can scramble anyone's brain. Long story short, her boss didn't know it was a secret and congratulated me for my quick recovery/back to work in front of an interdepartmental meeting! Stuff happens!

Alcoholism hazards after gastric sleeve/bypass - research compilation
Thank you for sharing. I had been warned about this, but that's not the same as someone sharing their personal experience. Good luck to you.

V8?
It would have been ok on my plan, but it depends on the plan you were given.

Highest weight
We think alike! My definition of "success" is size 14 Levis. No other brand. Levis. (and not stretchy ones, either!)

Holy shit...what do i do?
I got outed at work in an interdepartmental meeting. It sucks, but other than telling the person (and anyone else who asks) that you prefer not to disclose your personal medical information, there's not much you can do. Hopefully, she'll honor your request and not discuss it further. It's a shame that people can't mind their own business.

Redness
Glad you're improving!

Tummy ache
It could be acid. Just as an experiment, next time it happens, eat a Tums and see if the pain goes away. If not, it must be something else.

Stuck on liquids 5 weeks out!
Sorry to hear you're struggling. Are you doing any protein supplements, aka Protein shakes/protein water/protein powder? You shouldn't give up on those until you are getting sufficient protein from other sources. Can you handle Greek yogurt? It's a good source of protein. How about eggs? Also, since you can handle milk, are you using Fairlife milk? It has more protein than regular. Everyone progresses at their own pace. Lots of people aren't even cleared for solids until 6-8 weeks post-op. Also, don't eat anything solid within 3 hours of bedtime or you increase your chances of reflux and nausea. Hope this helps!

Congrats on your success, sounds like you are well on your way!

I gave up:(
I don't think you'll completely need to start over, after all you're down 70 pounds "the hard way"! Can you take vacation in increments? Or is it too soon? Do you not have vacation yet? At my job, I couldn't take FMLA until I'd been there a year. But, anyway, you are making steady progress and that's fantastic! You may need to have the surgery later than you'd like, but nothing you've accomplished so far is "wasted", it's an investment in the new you!

Weight Stall

Redness
I'd talk to the doctor or nurse on call. Can't hurt. Good luck, hope it gets better soon.

Edema
Well, talked the cardiologist out of the second IV lasix today. He was pleased that I lost 5 pounds overnight, but wants to continue for at least another 10-15. My breathing was easier today but I stayed dizzy and wobbly all day. I told him that I got too dizzy to drive a couple hours after the injection yesterday. He wanted to do it again and let me go home and be dizzy for a while. But I had taken today off to drive to the town my mom lived in before she passed so that I could set up an estate bank account. It's about an 80 mile round-trip. Then I also had an appointment this afternoon at home. So he said that he would prescribe another diuretic to take with the one I'm already taking for the weekend and re-evaluate my progress next week. Apparently, the pharmacy called this morning and spoke with one of my boys to say they'd need to order the medicine and it won't be in until Monday. No, my son didn't call me. I found out when I went to pick up the prescription around 5. Too late to call the dr. office and ask them to phone it in somewhere else. UGH! I forgot to ask the Cardiologist when I was there about exercise. He's got me nervous now. I'll wait til I talk to him next week. My surgeon was ok with the diuretics so long as I keep my fluids up and take a potassium supplement.

June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!
I'm surprised you didn't go all out with a "Bless your heart!"

Difficulties eating, and taking medications
Yes, definitely call the doc. It could be something easy to handle, like too much acid, or it could be something major. In the meantime, try changing the temperature of your liquids. Try warm (not hot) tea or broth. Try adding your protein shake to decaf coffee. Once you can handle the liquids and especially once there's something in your stomach (like the protein shake), the meds will go down easier.

I'm at 58# lost since Feb. 16, if I get to count the 5 since yesterday on diuretics!
