Weight-loss funnies
Me too! Although it does make it awkward at my doctor's office...;-)

Pre-op diet question
If it's a consolation, I don't really remember too much about that time (at 11 months out). It ended up being not as bad as I'd feared and just another step toward something I was working really hard for. As for preferring "eating" over "drinking", I ate sugar free popsicles and jello, so I could chew something....

Food Before and After Photos
Do you buy the cauliflower gnocchi or make it? I love replacing carbs- cauliflower rice and zoodles, but would like another option.....

Was anyone else told not to shave their legs 4 days before surgery?
I shaved under my armpits (not even thinking) the night before or morning of and I really wished I hadn't. It burned like fire when I used the wipes. They had me use the wipes from my shoulders down to my toes before I put my gown on.

nauseated at work and need advice
Putting an alcohol prep pad on my nose helped me with nausea after surgery. If you don't have those, maybe put a little alcohol gel hand sanitizer on???

Did you feel incomplete after surgery?
I'm already incomplete. My appendix revolted in 2012 and had to be removed. Can't say I've missed it.

Protein pills.
I know everyone's tastes are different and taste buds change after surgery, but I've used the Isopure Unflavored powder in water with a sugar free flavor packet (like fruit punch flavor) and I've found them to be really good. They don't change the flavor or thickness considerably and give you 25g of protein with 0 carbs and 100 calories. I use one of the shaker bottles to make sure it's all dissolved. Also, I use the caramel premade Premier protein in my coffee as a "creamer." That's a tip I got on here. I tried putting powder in my coffee and was not successful. ugh

Pre op clearance
For me it was just a formality I needed for my insurance. I had already gone to the weight loss clinic's information session, but needed my PCP to formally refer me before I could have my first appointment with the surgeon. We discussed pros and cons, but she knew me and my health issues well and was glad I was taking that step. The center I go to has a good relationship with my PCP's office. I know other people have said their PCP was not supportive, but I think that's rare. Best of luck to you.....

I know it doesn't help you out, but the center I go to had a clothes swap last week. I didn't go because I'm still pre-op but they will have more and I will definitely participate next time! Maybe more centers will start doing them....

Snacking at the Movies
I actually quit eating popcorn altogether a couple years ago due to my diverticulosis. At first when I would take my kids and they were eating popcorn it would bother me and I would try to snack on other things. Now I just sip some water and I'm fine. So it is possible to break that connection! Also, we stopped buying the large popcorn for the free refill. With me not eating any they never finished a large anyway- so we saved $ and calories!

Feeling depressed and unable to drink.
I'm pre-op so I have no advice for her as to her water intake. As for her emotional state, I would like to offer her encouragement and send positive thoughts her way. Sounds like she has a lot of support!

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br />
+
I spent the last few months prior to my first orientation hovering around 300. Somehow I was down to 299 at my first weigh in on March 13. The doc told me to lose 25 lbs during the 3 month supervised diet. So far I have lost 33 and hope to get a surgery date when I go back for my last doctor's visit on Tuesday. I would like to be down to 250 by surgery time. Will definitely be checking this thread often....

Help Veterans!
I really like the tuna packets. They come in several flavors (ranch, thai chili, lemon pepper, hickory smoked, buffalo, etc.), have 13-15 grams of protein and are about 70-90 calories.....

Low-fat, low-sugar desserts? I'M CRAVING SO BADLY!
I made my own fudgesicles- took sugar free fat free chocolate pudding and almond milk, mixed and poured into popsicle molds.
