  1. 96lbs down in 1 year is amazing process. As my nutritionist says, your progress wouldn't have happened without your hard work!
  2. You look awesome, and look at you posting in a sports bra - that's confidence!
  3. Chiming in here for anyone else considering surgery that will read this. The "restrictions" you have after surgery is because you should have a new life perspective and new healthy habits. You should be eating differently for the most part, you should be drinking more water than maybe you weren't used to, you should be taking vitamins. (and multi-vitamins exist, no one should be taking 12 different pills!) You should be living your life in the best way possible! Eat what you want, do it in moderation, work it off if you can. As with anything in life, nothing major should be entered into without research - that is 100x true when it comes to your health!!
  4. Your smile shows just how happy you are with your progress!!
  5. First - you look awesome! You're absolutely welcome to jump in now!! I had my surgery 8/14/18 - we're surgery twins! Our original thread was all about post-op stuff, but we did also have a post-op thread. I'll see if I can find that and post the link here. Might have good info in it for people, but it isn't very active with posts any longer.
  6. Thought of one more thing. I did buy chewable vitamins and blended them up with a protein smoothie (with fruit otherwise it was gross). This helped get the vitamins in and didn't cause my stomach any issues since it was taken with food.
  7. You look awesome! I hope you are wearing that shirt as a dress, it's so cute!!!
  8. I hit a stall at 9 months too and I'm still in it. I know eventually things will move along again, but I'm frustrated that I'm only 15lbs away from losing 100lbs and I just want to get there!! lol
  9. I bought WAY too much food because I did not have a grasp yet on just how little I would be eating post-op. I would recommend buying what you think will last you for one week and then use that as a gauge for going forward. Sugar free popsicles were the bomb. Buy little 1 or 2 oz plastic cups and make your own jell-o cups. You can also buy the unflavored protein powder from this site and mix it in for protein jell-o! (And mix it in to everything you eat to hit your protein goal) If you don't have it already, a heating pad, robe, fuzzy socks, good blanket. I was freezing afterwards from all the blood thinner they put in my system. I took my unicorn hot water bottle and my unicorn stuffed animal to the hospital with me for comfort. The nurses thought it was hilarious, I loved it. I bought smaller plates but I thought they were a waste of money. Your new stomach will now control your portions, not your eyes. So a big plate is just fine. I did buy baby spoons to help eat slower, those were really helpful.

  12. Yes, but also when I eat too fast. I am working on finding a different clue to stop before I get to the hiccup stage.
  13. I don't use an app for reminders - I bought this pill box on Amazon and organize my vitamins by when I need to take them. Each day I grab a box and it sits with me at work so it's front and center. Then when I actually do take them I enter them in My Fitness Pal with my food so I don't have to remember if I really did take them or not. If all goes as planned by the time bedtime hits my pill box should be empty. I do have an app to remind me when it's time to each and it's called MealReminder. You can customize the name of your reminders and set actually times so you could use this for vitamin reminders as well.

  15. I know they are fabulous but this isn’t a thread about whether I should buy one or not. The question is how well do bariatric patients do with eating food from an Air Fryer? What’s your experience? Every non-bariatric person I know loves theirs. But I’ve seen several articles lately discussing how the end product is not good for those that have had WLS as the food isn’t as tender or smooth as it should be. Most articles referred to items with crunchy outsides. So, thoughts?
  16. So I'm on day 4 of my pre-op diet, protein shakes only. Just today I've started getting muscle spasms...but it's in the weirdest place. It's in my right hand between my thumb and index finger. It makes my index finger involuntarily move. It's weird. Not concerning, just funny.
  17. My surgeon said no catheter, they just have me pee several times before surgery.
  18. Well I WAS going to be the 13th, but I got bumped to the 14th.
  19. I'm sure the recommendation to wait is just like exercise, to allow a full recovery and prevent a hernia. However, I imagine the time period in the real world is different for everyone. Being overweight has definitely impacted my libido so 4 weeks is probably a shorter period than what our current rotation is. lol Hoping this surgery helps me get back on track.
  20. Here in Denver my cost is $12,150. I had to pay $7,800 to the hospital and $4,350 to my surgeon. My advice - ask lots of questions about payment options. I only had enough cash for a part of my surgery but had care credit available from a previous procedure. My surgeon didn’t have any info on his website about payment/financing so when I brought up Care Credit he offered to set up an account so I could finance his cost. The hospital doesn’t do any type of financing but they have a lot of self pay patients so they said they could even allow patients to spread the cost across multiple credit cards if needed. Lol And of course all fees had to be paid prior to surgery. I did one psych evaluation, 1 nutritionist appt, and 3 classes about the process/diet. I had to give some blood, get a 5 min EKG, and pee in a cup. No scope, no sleep study, no bacteria test, and no requirement to lose weight before surgery.
  21. Yeah I wouldn't suggest watching The Big Ward while on a liquid diet. What they eat is insane!
