  9. I know I speak of empathy for people who are obese. When I hear comments, I usually say something like "You don't really think that person WANTS to be overweight do you...for many people there are reasons they end up this way beyond their contol!" And then I go on to say that I feel sorry for them and wish they could have surgery to help them. People think I'm "nice" but inside I'm taking mental notes of the assholes.

  11. Yes! I had this too for the first couple of months actually. I would say that around 3 months out, I was FINALLY able to drink until I was comfortable. And I was a waterholic too. I drank SO much water that I would have to get up 2-3 times in the night to use the restroom. But now, that's GONE and I love it. I'm able to get a great nights sleep without getting up. This surgery has to be the best thing I've ever done for myself for so many reasons. And my husband noted that I no longer snore either. It will get better. Hang in there and keep on sipping.
  12. That's what I was going to say. If you are anywhere near the age of 50, that's what I would guess!
  13. I would not involve her at all. Less is more. I had surgery when my girls were little (different kind and was in the hospital for 2 days) and they never knew. I sent them to my mothers and never mentioned it. Zero anxiety for all involved.
  14. I think you look FAB either way, but I am going to comment that the bottom photo makes you look like you are 18 years old! I'm envious! And congratulations on your weight loss and the 5k! Hugs to you!
  15. Yes, I ought to receive a lot of things for $3000/month. But I should also mention that my insurance is also an EPO meaning I HAVE to see the in network doctors and hospital (notice that's not plural) for them to pay for it. Too bad none of their doctors or the hospital is within 2 hours of my home!!!!
  16. Or there are working class people who don't have employer paid health insurance who are being taken advantage of (legally) thanks to Obamacare. My health insurance is $3000/month with a $12,500 deductible per person and it's basically un-useable as it covers next to nothing unless of course I want birth control or to have a baby at age 53. And it sure as hell didn't cover bariatric surgery either.
  17. I would switch to the shakes. I was never able to drink any protein water. Every time I tried I would start to gag and didn't think throwing up would be good for my stomach. When I was where you are, I drank a lot of Herb Ox chicken broth. It was a lifesaver and I still drink it once in awhile. It's really good. And I never drank broth a day in my life before this surgery. No protein but maybe you can add some protein powder to it?
  18. I do lunchables and snack on one all day really as I can't have much food at all at one time. Also cheese cubes, pimento cheese (homemade), protein bars, and cheese curds are my current favorite. I'll do any kind of salad, egg salad, triple zero yogurt, and even plain old strawberries or blueberries.
  19. Every single day right after I wake up and use the restroom. (every ounce counts, LOL) If I don't lose a pound, I try and adjust my workout accordingly for the day so I make sure and lose a pound the next day. My goal is to lose 15 pounds per month until I hit the big goal.
  20. My husband is a physician...a Pulmonologist and an Internal Medicine specialist and he does not believe in these.
  21. Here's a good one for ya'll..... I've lost 43 pounds thus far and the only piece of clothing that's too big for me is the cup size of my bra!!!! FIGURES! But that's ok, I'll take weight loss anywhere and still be ecstatic! Thank the Lord for Gastric Sleeve!
  22. You're looking at it the wrong way....You're waiting for your new life! And trust me, it's going to be better than the old one. Unless you are underweight, weight loss is a positive for everyone. You'll be fine and it's time to get excited about this new chapter!!!
  23. I'm just about 2 months out and I noticed Saturday that I've pretty much lost all of my upper and lower eyelashes. Ugh. Thus said, some of mine might be thyroid related...but I kind of doubt it.
