jenpa reacted to allwet in IM STARVING
Your right your crazy - Just kidding We are all crazy we let a total stranger do a crazy, amazing and terrify thing to us and now your body is trying to figure out which way is up, in a manner of speaking.
take this time to learn the difference between head hunger - the habit of eating and the hormonal change of the lack of carbs and sugars crashing thru your system at all hours of the day.
This process will play out over the next couple of weeks.
It is normal to feel hungry, not just now or at this moment but in human history. we are supposed to get hungry. That is the time when your body calls on the stored fat (anyone here got some of that) to provide energy.
It is not Natural to be full
try to get used to a more natural hormonal reaction to eating then getting hungry a few hours later and then after a bit of that hunger we eat a small meal again then start over.
Dam even i cant make sense of any of that i wrote - just know food will feel different and you will feel different just take the time to get to know those feelings now and dont go at them with your old mind set.

jenpa got a reaction from Frustr8 in Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Hi all& hope everything is going awesome on your journey:)... I am June 5. Just went to surgeons office today -next month is my last visit12 days before the big day . Before then I have to get ekg , chest X-ray blood work & approval from my PC to clear me for surgery. I am on the last leg of this trip. I was told today I am required to do a 10 day pre-op clear liquids- I think it’s going to be tough!!!!!might be asking some veterans on the sight for some encouraging input on getting through! I talked to the PA today and asked a ton more questions...she put my mind at ease regardless I am extremely nervous. This whole experience is better because of this great group of people ... so much good info & encouragement right when you need it! Thanks all!!! I will try to keep you in the loop it helps me when I hear others and how they are getting through!

I had a one day food funeral, four meals, all of my favorite fast food, 4,000 calories, and spent the night miserable with a stomach ache. It wasn't worth it for me.

jenpa reacted to KimTriesRNY in Feeling like my life is over
But your life isn’t over. You are only 30. As frustrating as it is with surgery there are potential complications, that’s why we sign consents to let surgeons operate on us. There are no guarantees that each of us will tolerate the operation the same. You cannot predict what will happen to you after surgery.
There are many risks to remaining obese as well.
The only thing you can do now is focus on healing and following your diet guidelines. Not all people that have complications have them forever, so don’t get stuck in a negative way of thinking that what you are experiencing now will last the rest of your life.
Start on Miralax for the Constipation. Not pooping can make you miserable. Work on meeting the fluid goals. One day at a time.
If you continue to have issues maybe it is prudent to have a second opinion.

jenpa reacted to DarlingNikki in Tea Drinkers
I just got my first order of tea from Golden Moon tea. Their teas have real leaves and flowers, no tisanes. I'm excited to try them out, after I get back from having my surgery, next week.
I'll have to check out done of the brands everyone's mentioned in this thread.

jenpa reacted to lizzieat in Had my surgery yesterday!
Hi all. I have had my surgery yesterday all went well. But I have to say waking up to nausea and pain wasn’t fun. Thank god for morphine and anti sickness though. Here’s to a fresh start. Hoping to get to my goal within a year. Lots of love and good luck to all of you going through this today and this month. Stay strong.

jenpa reacted to Taoz in Will I ever enjoy food again?
Remember that at 4 weeks post op your body may not be ready for many solids yet. Being full after one or two bites can be normal at this stage. Consider keeping Protein water/shakes as part of your daily diet to get enough protein in and focus on getting lots of Water in. Your body will still have plenty of fat stores to feed on and provided you can get enough Liquid Protein in and your essential Vitamins you won't be losing muscle mass.
Be patient with your body as it recovers from the extremes of surgery. It's been through a lot!
Don't start eating unhealthy foods just to enjoy the feeling/experience of eating larger volumes, as eating to appease our minds/feelings are part of what led us to weight loss surgery in the first place. Enjoy the restriction while it is there, and keep up the mental focus needed to make your surgery an effective tool in your weight loss journey.
(I am still 1 week from sleeve surgery, I know I'm going to miss a lot of stuff for a while, especially while I continue to cook all the regular healthy solids for my kids and husband, but this is my time to put myself and my health first (for once) and the mental game is key to me succeeding!)
You can do this! Keep your long term goals in focus

My 3 month post op went great! I met with the PA but the surgeon called me a couple hours later to personally congratulate me on my success so far. Down 84lbs and took 14 points off my BMI.
Here’s a pic from our great day! Thank you to my super supportive hubby!

jenpa reacted to sideeye in Nail bed lifting
If you paint your nails, look into vegan/non-toxic polish alternatives. After decades of basically not being able to wear drugstore polish because my nails would instantly snap, chip or flake, I've started using Sundays polish and it's amazing, my nails are strong and healthy and I've painted them every week for six weeks now. Apparently my nails didn't like the formaldehyde in most drugstore brands?

TMI alert:
I pee all the time! It's so annoying. I'm drinking probably 100+ ounces of Fluid a day. I try to hold it and go every hour, but today I had to go every 10 minutes. I felt pregnant again. How about you guys?

jenpa reacted to BlueGirl1920 in 13 weeks postop
I started at 257lbs, I now weigh 213lbs. The weight is coming off slower now. It was really exciting to try new clothes on. I was a size 24 and when I went to the store, I grabbed a bunch of size 18's to try on, they were all to big. Friends and family or noticing. My confidence has really increased. The changes are very motivating.
