susunorm reacted to Miss Topaz in Hair loss?
Mine is just starting at 8 weeks out and isn't too bad yet. It's part of the journey. My surgeon and RD say to get your Protein in - it's the best bet to minimize the loss. But it is temporary!

susunorm reacted to FluffyChix in Do any of you have hair loss?
Oh soooo much Hair loss. I'm collecting it. I will either make my own hair bump? Or else I will make a tiny little generic voodoo doll that I will use indiscriminately with great whim here and elsewhere on Al Gore's Internet.

susunorm reacted to frust8 in Surgery in 4 days!!!!!!!! :)
Hi susunorm, welcome to this forum and welcome to Bariatric Pal. We are here to help, we hope you'll like us and want to stay with us a while. If you have any questions, just ask, if I can I'll be happy to answer, if not someone else may have an insight on that subject. We are all individuals but,we each bring a perspective to the travel along the Bariatric Highway, we are co-journeyers to health, fitness and a lower weight. Aren't any of us perfect but we do give it our best shot and doggone if we don't hit the dang- blasted target most of the time.

susunorm got a reaction from kelliekell in Anyone have success with losing weight after having surgery
Hello all,
I’m new to this forum, I’m now in the research part of my journey. I have pcos. I found out that I had it when I was 19, I’m currently 27. Married and no kids. We have been trying for years but no help. My current weight is 305. My question to you all. Has surgery helped with losing weight? Are you losing fast, slow? Thank you so much.

susunorm reacted to abefroman329 in Sleep Apnea test
Oh they don't care how long you sleep, they care about what you do when you do sleep. My ENT quickly corrected me on that point when I tried to argue my polysomnogram wasn't accurate because I got a terrible night's sleep.

susunorm reacted to GwenSue in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
I have PCOS and the worst of it was when I was 25-35 years old. When I was 27 I gained 100 pounds in a year and kept gaining until I was 316. I have experienced many of the symptoms and can say laser treatments aren't as painful as people claim and will change your life. Low carb is the way to go with this and triple the exercise. Hiking and weights work best for me. 75 pounds came off that way, but I kept getting 'stuck'. So I got the weight loss surgery to use as an additional tool to get the rest of the pesky pounds off.
Both of my children were born after I had lost 40 pounds in weight and led more active and healthy low carb lifestyles.
I have curly hair, so it mostly hides the Hair loss from PCOS. I'm checking out wigs in case the hair loss goes nuts from the surgery.

Complications are rare, recovery is usually very tolerable and mainly a learning curve on living with wls. Use this time to read, figure out your relationship with food, be prepared for big and ongoing changes. It is not magic, it is a successful surgery for weight loss if YOU follow your physician's program. Many of us would rather have had this surgery at age 24 and lived a healthy young life before the damage of being obese took its toll on our knees, backs, heart, and other organs.
Most of us complete a 6 month program and then usually 0-2 months later have surgery. Good luck. Don't look back.

I received a surgery date 2 weeks after my last appt. I was approved by my insurance 1 week after my last appt.
I have stalled since I started lifting weights. My weight has swayed between 189 - 195 for months. However, I continue to keep going to the gym and eating right. I have come to realize that I have packed on a lot of muscle. Unfortunately, it is hidden under my fat but arms look nice. My only regret is that I had not done this sooner.
It is okay to be scared. A lot of the time, people whom you see that have not lost the weight or regain, tend to be making a mistake in their program. Such as and limited to:
1) Not meal prepping properly or eating properly.
2) Not exercising or changing their lifestyle
3) Giving up or throwing in the towel because they stalled for too long
4) Failing to realize that slow progress is still progress (May not lose on the scale but lose inches)

susunorm reacted to KateBruin in Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?
I’ve lost 90 so far and am getting a little loose skin. Part of it is a 6” vertical bellybutton to public bone incision that is doing this awful valley, butt crack type thing [emoji23] and a little behind my arms where I got some stretch marks and my bellybutton sags a little bit I think some of that is from my gallbladder surgery and hernia.
I figure my stomach will look like a bomb went off after my 4th abdominal surgery. Gotta start saving for a mommy makeover.

susunorm reacted to Mattymatt in Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?
That's funny. I am 6'4" and before I gained all of this weight, I used to get matched with women 5' - 5'5". No matches with any of the taller girls.
