Hello all, I've noticed my taste bubs are very sensitive to sweet flavor. When I drink my shakes or Protein flavor drink example lemonade I find it too sweet so I add more Water. Anyone has the same problem? Don't get me wrong, I'm a water person, but once in a blue I like something sweet.

I really noticed that! Apart from the Protein Powder Soups here on BariatricPal Store, every other Protein powder I find sickly sweet! I have so easily made a switch to a low carb diet - and to compensate, I am loving things like salad greens! Never been partial to that before!!
I struggled to find a tolerable Protein Drink and settled on this as my everyday breakfast:
1 shot of coffee, cooled in fridge overnight
    6 ice cubes
    1 oz milk
20g protein worth Of least sweet possible vanilla protein powder
Blitz in NutriBullet - yum! The coffee sort of mellows out the sweet in the protein powder - this is my everyday starter meal...

I had one incision that was hurting since I woke up from surgery. The doctor said they stitched a nerve and out would work itself out which it did, thank goodness. I took long warm showers and let the Water run over the stitch sight and the muscles in my stomach loosened up. This made the pain much more tolerable. I also used a heating pad which also worked. Hope you feel better soon!!

    Hello MGBGers! Happy Monday!
I am 21 days Post-Op today and have my follow up with my surgeon this afternoon. Current weight is 229 which is 32 pounds down from my starting weight and 21 pounds down from my pre-op surgery date weight.
I broke down and bought clothes this weekend. I have a business trip coming up and even the few clothes I saved I’m starting to drown in now.
Big nsv- I was able to shop in the regular side of the store - even purchasing some Shapewear in sizes M (shorts) and L (tank - for breasts) No more XL or 1X or 2X!
Also this week my diet expands to include fish and soft veggies and hummus and all different flavors and textures! I’m super excited!
I hope everyone is doing well. Looking forward to taking 1 month pictures next Monday and seeing the difference.
    Post how you’re doing!

So you're back to sleeping on your side again and turning the corner between surgery and your future. Wow pretty good for 2 weeks, aren't you proud of you? Sounds like only good things from now on

My program allows anything the size of a pencil eraser or smaller immediately. I think they said to wait on the bigger stuff 8 weeks - but I was taking smaller capsules earlier than that. I'd say it was right around 8 weeks when I felt like I could take something really big without discomfort.

I was told eight weeks in my information. You need to clarify this with the surgeon. He needs to give you an actual answer.
I started slowly introducing smaller medicine, smaller than a regular m and m, after that time. I’ve not had trouble since but never had problems swallowing pills. I still use chewable vitamins.

More incisions is often because of adhesions (scar tissue) from trauma or previous surgery, and it allows them to get around those areas by going in different areas instead.
However in your case a hellers myotmy during a bypass is rare (I've never seen one done at the same time as a bypass surgery only seperately) so it's entirely possible that some trocar sites were because it's in a different area than the bypass and you couldn't use all of the same Trocar sites.

Likely it's a combination of the two

The base amount that a surgeon would need is 5. However, some patients require more as your surgeon said, "There is not enough room after the initial incisions". He would have needed to add more incisions to complete the surgery successfully and that is the most important thing.
I have 5 and hell, I would take 10 more incisions without a problem after this tool has helped me soo much.

You know Apple, Peg and Acts 238 girl, my journey path to surgery has been so bumpy and convoluted, I don't care at this point how many or how few slits I have all that much. As long as I don't whistle the piccolo solo from the Stars and Stripes Forever whenever I breath in and out, I will be ONE HAPPY CAMPER. Bruising, well it can not be worse than I had with my Tomkitten, he would not stay "engaged" in my pelvis. So nurse got up on my bed, worked him down manually from outside so OB doctor could screw electodes for, monitoring into his scalp. I had handprint bruises all over my lower belly for weeks. I wonder looking back, if I had been "normal" weight would they have just taken me to the OR and sectioned me instead of these fun and games? Ah I will never know. But give me up to a dozen portholes? Just bring them on, I'll just have extra dimples when they heal!

That's odd, I had the same thing, only 7! I didn't know I was only supposed to have five until I read it on here. I forgot to ask my doctor about it when I went back for a post-op.

Your doctor has good advice and you probably want to follow it. It's also about getting healthy by developing a healthy relationship to food. It is also about developing good physical activity having as well. It's not only about getting healthy by losing weight, but so much more.

My doctor told me not to pay attention to my weight, just follow the rules. I understand why he said that, but seriously, this is about getting healthier by losing weight! so I weighed myself. And yes, you really have to take the long view. Right after surgery your body is going through all kinds of things, from dealing with gas and Water to healing.
And take seriously what you read on this site about stalls--I've had several and sometimes they last weeks. It can be discouraging when you know you aren't taking in that many calories, but you just have to wait for the scale to catch up with your body's changes. It will eventually . . .
    Good luck!

    Two reasons

    1. Gas. It’s also the source of a lot of your initial pain. For me it was 80% of my pain and I was so happy when I started passing gas.

    2. Fluids. Remember, you were hooked up to an IV - for a few days, and those fluids pumped into your body 24 hours a day.

About day 3-4 Post-Op you should see marked improvement in the ‘additional weight”.

But my suggestion to you? Follow your Drs plan, walk as much as you can, and weigh only once a week.

Congratulations! I had my surgery March 5th so I am 9 days Post-Op. we have a March GB Group if you’re interested.

I am not a trained medical professional but, if I had to guess, you're retaining Fluid. You need to relax and stop agonizing over the scale. I am not even going to weigh myself until I am fully two weeks post-op because I know I won't get an accurate number. You will lose weight if you follow the rules of the program. But bear in mind that there will be stalls and sometimes the stalls can last a long time. The important thing is to persevere.

    Good Morning MGBG !

This morning was the first time I woke up with no pain! I’m 9 days Post-Op, have lost 15 pounds since surgery, can sleep on my side, and am going to drive for the first time today!

I am sticking to my Drs plan meticulously. Only 3 meals per day, drinking plenty of Water (sipping all day), and slowly introducing soft puréed foods (unsweetened apple sauce, loose oatmeal, loose mashed potatoes - YUM!), and increasing my walking every day.

How is everyone doing? Whether you’re pre or post op, if you’re journey begins in March, let’s work together and help each other out!

    Thanks
    Roxine
