Good to hear the aversions are there! There are times Where I’ll just drink a Protein Drink in place of eating because I just don’t want to do it! Never in my life have I spoken these words, lol!

Ever since I got sleeved food has tasted so differently, is it just me? meat especially tastes like the live animal and when I cook it it smells so bad. No one else smells it or tastes what I taste I have to literally choke down all my Protein because it’s so gross. It’s almost not worth eating.. anyone else?

Well the Premier Protein ones (IMO) are sweet but no aftertaste or grittiness that I am aware of. I did thin them out with Decaf or hot Water which was a little better but I was so glad after 2 weeks that I could do pureed and mostly get rid of them (still use about 6 ounces vanilla in my morning coffee instead of creamer).
You are almost 2 weeks post op so hopefully you can see the light at the end of the tunnel...lol

Here's a picture of me a year ago on vacation and another of me from last night. This is the first photo I have taken since my sleeve on 3/16/2018. This is the first time I am actually SEEING any change. When I look in the mirror I see the same person on the left when I was at my HW of 308lbs. This morning I was weighed in when I saw one of the many docs we see, and was 242lbs. I can't wait to put the next version of me next to these 2 pictures.

"I haven't heard too many people stalling in the 2nd week but I'm glad there's some. Like I mentioned, it scares me how much my doctor said that getting a stall at 2 weeks was flat out abnormal."
He is full of poop. Most surgeons don't even tell people about the 3rd week stall, because frankly, most of them don't know about it. He should read WLS forums, because then he'd see he's flat out WRONG.

I am 4 years plus out, and have been on WLS forums for 5 years. I have seen literally hundreds of panicky posts like yours asking why they've stopped losing weight at around 2-6 weeks. Google it. Better yet, do a search in this very forum. You'll see around 10, 234 posts about this particular stall. And half of them are at 2 week post op. And guess what? Every single one of them continue on to lose weight. It also won't be your last stall.

Stop fretting and just do what you need to do and watch the magic happen. It will all work out.

You're doing just fine. Some people don't feel "true" restriction until they start solid foods. liquids and mushies can slide right through the sleeve. Wait until you eat your first egg or meat. You'll feel it.
The stall is utterly and completely normal and happens to 98% of us 2-6 weeks post op. It actually has a name...."The Dreaded 3 Week Stall". It mostly happens around week 3.
Try not to stress and concentrate on Protein and fluids. Stay off the scale for a month. You'll be pleasantly surprised when you get back on.

Thank you so much. I'm happy to hear at least one other person didn't feel the restriction as much as everyone else (I definitely feel it but I still have some appetite and I don't get any of the discomfort/pain other people get).
I will definitely up my Water. I don't have too hard a time getting it down versus because I eat 3-4 small meals a day and there's the buffer time between meals. Then I don't drink immediately after cause I'm full still and I'm scared I'm going to stretch out my stomach. Then the next meal is almost around the corner. The last reason is dumb and I know it but I weigh myself at night too (cause usually I have a pretty good idea of what I'll be in the morning) and I see that once again I won't be losing anything so I'm scared of even putting on water weight that'll cling on.
But yeah my Doctor was mostly supportive but the way she said "that's not normal" when I told her about the lack of restriction scares me so much.

eeeeek - 8 days and you are already thinking sleeve won't work for you!! It's a common phrase that "we are all different". Amount of weight we loose, how much and how fast. directions we get from our NUT/doc.
Many OP say they have no/little hunger post op X amount of weeks, months. Even more than a year.
Others, like you, remain hungry despite WLS. You are probably on all liquids. That's not filling!! Once you start mushy, soft, solid foods - your tummy will/should be satisfied. "It" does get better!!! -
    good luck bud

Head hunger and the food addiction that is the root cause will do some strange things to you.
Please take this post op time to try to break thru all that. Distract Distract Distract You have to move the mental focus away from food.
While it my be true That "Its all in your head" or not it does not make it easier.
Post op is mostly a mental game and you are being put to the test right out the gate.
The skills you learn to deal with this head hunger will help determine how easy or hard the rest of this goes.
Also mild dehydration will mask as hunger so try to increase your Water intake.
medical issues like the IBS do not make any of this easier and just add a layer of difficulty to an already tough time period.
    good luck

That kinda sounds a little like head hunger and old habits. It took me a number of weeks post surgery to FINALLY see the difference between true hunger and mental hunger. I'm not sure what finally clicked to help me differentiate but it happened and it was like a light bulb going on in my mind. The best way I can explain is that most of the eating you do is driven by habits and desire. Because your tummy is so tiny now you can't really give in to these things to the extent you did before which is lovely. Be patient with yourself and give yourself lots of love and pampering in ways that don't involve eating. You're trying to break yourself of long practiced bad habits. When you feel crazy about eating something that will hurt you or harm your progress, revisit all the things you want from this WLS. Better health, maybe better relationships, more stamina, more acceptance. I'm sure there was a very good reason you had that first conversation with your doctor to begin this whole change in your life. Try to keep that forward in your mind. Forgive yourself and keep moving toward a better life.

I'm 11 weeks out, and have no regrets! Actually, I wish I had gotten sleeved a few years ago, if that's a regret. My recovery has been pretty smooth. There are of course a few bumps in the road, but overall this has been so positive. I'm down 40 lbs, and it's the easiest 40 lbs I've ever lost. I have no physical hunger (although head hunger is something else!). I also love that I feel full and satisfied after only a few ounces of food, instead of going back for seconds.
You're making the right decision for your future self!

cdwashington73 reacted to Creekimp13 in When will I be able to eat “normally”
I eat normally now, and I love it. 1200 calories a day. I'm never hungry. My energy is awesome.
But you know...there's a big difference between eating "normally" and eating the way we used to.
I used to think it was "normal" to drink a 2 liter of Pepsi over the course of a day, and have...ya know....5 or 6 slices of bread in a day (what's a few PB and J sandwiches?)...maybe some fried chicken...and dessert? Booyah! Bring it on...big servings and seconds, please. And pass the Doritos, dammit....TV means snacks!
    Yeah, no.
What I used to perceive as normal...and what I now realize is normal....are two very different things.
My advice...(take it or leave it)...
Really figure out what normal is gonna look like for you long term. Do some research. Talk to your nutritionist. Create a new healthy normal.
Be very careful of extremes and extremist thinking.
Eating the crazy number of calories I used to eat...ain't normal.
But eating starvation level calories long term isn't normal either. (I realize for many folks this is a necessary step in the process)
Avoid extremes and work toward sane moderation.
    "Normal" isn't that far away:)

Haz your are eating Normal. The problem we all have or had is we dont know normal when we see it anymore.
never eat on a dinner plate again. use a salad plate to give the visual of a full plate.
The Portions given during eating out ARE NOT NORMAL. That is a big part of the Mental changes you have to work thru to ensure long term success.
Hopefully you will never again in your life Eat that old Normal again.
Nothing written above stops you from going out and eating with friends and family.
You just have to change how you look at the food and portions you encounter when you do.
Skip the dressing , pass on the bread and order tea or diet soda and you can eat almost anywhere and just bring the leftovers home and turn them into lunch for work the next day.
You can and will have as normal a life as you want. Hopefully it will not be the same normal as before surgery.

There is nothing wrong with you. Try the following:
    1) Tracking your Calories and Macros (Fat, Carbs, Protein):
Carbs - 25g Fat - 35g Protein - 135g 2) Increase your vegetable intake with no starchy vegetables (Cucumbers, Spinach, Kale, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Lettuce)
    3) Drink 64 oz of Water. (When you feel hunger, drink 8 oz of Tea)
    4) Be mindful that it may be head hunger and physical hunger. (This is where the tea will help).

Forget about burning calories - that is not how this works.
Get your attention on goals that increase strength, flexibility and endurance.
Weightloss will be mostly nutritionally driven, not exercise driven.
And you can support your nutrition by getting stronger and fitter.

I've now lost weight at my weekly weigh in 28 straight weeks dating back to well pre-surgery. I don't think I've hit a "stall" per say, but some weeks I lose less than a pound, others I lose 5-6lbs. Over the whole period since I started the 6 month pre op diet and through current, my average weekly loss is 3.34lbs.
As for calories, I'm 14 weeks post op and am getting 1200-1400 per day. I was actually at around 1000,but my nutritionist had me up it at my 12 week follow up appt.
As for workouts, I treadmill at least 30 minutes 5x per week and lift weights 3x per week.

Even with exercise stalls happen. If you're not getting enough Protein your body will pull from your muscles. Try high protein milk with your Protein Powder. Learn some tricks to get it in, but be careful, some high protein items also have high carbs which are ng.
