BostonWLKC reacted to BlueGirl1920 in The diet you can't quit!
I think it is safe to say that none of us got here without trying diets that we inevitably cheated on and then quit. I am at week seven and I have lost 33lbs. My clothes are getting big and I am starting to see changes. If I wasn't seeing changes, I think I would be having a harder time dealing with my new lifestyle. Now that I can't turn to food, unless I want to suffer, I am starting to realize how much I used food to deal with almost everything from stress to boredom. I know I would have never found the self control to stop abusing food without this surgery. I am so glad that I jumped through all of those hoops to make this possible.

    Check in, share our successes!
Overall doing well, although I’m still worried I’m eating too much volume (ie 4 oz ground turkey looks like a lot to eat but I can no problem for a meal.
Super happy with results so far but notice a slowing now. Need to exercise more
    Check in people!

Thank you for all the replies and encouragement as my emotions tend to go in waves. I try to be strong but the weak moments get me down sometime. I need to jump on the scale more often, that might keep my spirits up. 26lbs down from the night before my surgery surgery.

Congrats! March 23rd is my one year anniversary from RNY. Don’t bother taking much your toothbrush, phone charger, and chapstick. That’s really all I used and I took lots of stuff. Good luck, a lot can change in a year!

Fluffy.Chix-- you must be running off a computer, I'm on an android phone and we don't have those options. In my upper right corner I have Refresh -Report -Reply- Share -Web View and copy URL. Can I update off of any of those? And if D R. like me is on a Apple or Android she may not be able to either. I suspect that is why so many posters include their stats when they post on here.

Yes, I'm now bypassed. The surgery went incredibly well since I took the pre-op liquid diet so seriously. My surgeon have me a gold star, lol. The only pain I have which is really a low ache is from gas. I even managed to walk for almost 50 minutes. My only wish is not getting this surgery sooner.

The discomfort that I'm feeling now is nothing compared to what I was feeling for most of my adult life. I feel like I've been given a do-over. It is an opportunity that I plan to fully embrace.

Maybe the Beans were too ridged - try something more smooth like yogurt or cottage cheese

For me, it was the same and each day got easier but I started off with small amounts and increased daily trying to get myself acclimated to solids again

Yes to the weight loss and the thrill of it all.... but there is something about the simple victories and the internal feeling of success .
Being able to cross your legs comfortably is amazing
Take the little victories in too.... they are equally as fulfilling

I have a feeling that this is why I'm not getting the reaction I was hoping for from friends and coworkers. My clothes are so baggy right now. I'm masking my true size. I did order some pants last night. I wasn't brave enough to go try any on in the store, but its baby steps.

I feel like I had the most reaction when I purchased a few pants and shirts that fit better-you can see the weight loss better. I would recommend though that you only buy a few as hopefully you lose more quickly and you need to go shopping again

Start with your closet! Even if they don’t fit perfectly yet I’m sure you will be able to see that they fit better than they diss!

BostonWLKC reacted to FluffyChix in I hate eating out now!
For those with spouses, I think it's fun to do the Lady n' the Tramp thing and just order a starter, then the meal. That way you can have a bite or two of an app and a bite or four off his/her plate. Then the spouse still has buttwads left of dinner and you're satisfied. I loved sharesies pre-op, and I'm so looking forward to going out and only having the expense of one person plus iced tea for moi! ROFLMAO!!!
But. LOVE the card. Will try to remember to ask my doc tomorrow!!!

My surgery will be at Oakland Hospital. My surgeon is Dr.Matthew Weiner. I originally found him through his YouTube channel. I am located in Michigan. My date is set yes but waiting to hear back from insurance which they don’t think is a problem at all so they went ahead and scheduled me. Are any of you doing a YouTube journey series. I’ve started but my video is private atm just because until I have the surgery no one really knows. My fiancé and my mother know but that is it right now. Not sure how I feel about telling people. I’m really struggling there. I feel like I’m not prepared in the sense of having the things I need. I am thinking of choosing the Celebrate Multivitamin. Any opinions or reviews from anyone taking them is more than appreciated. And yeah I just don’t want to be in a mad dash to get thing I need right before surgery. Also been trying to decide what my lifestyle of eating will be after surgery. I’ve decided to be a lacto-ovo vegetarian. And I know my fiancé and some family won’t support that fully or will make harsh comment and doubt my decision whiling I’m struggling with. So that’s where I’m at in my journey.

BostonWLKC reacted to domi in My husband is dead set against me having wls. Any advice on how to overcome that?
My husband was the same way. When it came down to it, he was scared to lose me. I reminded him of all the diets I have tried and all of the trainers and videos I have done over the past 5 years. I also showed him letters from my psychologist, nutritionist, trainer and doctor who are all supporting surgery. This surgery I am doing for myself, but I am also doing it for my family. I want to be healthy and around for the important memories we will be making in our future. If I do not take care of me, I may not be able to take care of him. Slowly he came around. He still wishes I could do it naturally, but I showed him all the research I have done and he understands I did not make this decision quickly.

Best of luck to you on your journey.

I didn’t experience any vomiting either- that isn’t normal. However if you eat too fast or don’t chew well enough you can spit up what we call “frothies” which is just frothy like spit . Sometimes just regurgitate food that gets stuck but that just like spit up food.... no vomiting

Why not consider bypass ? As The stomach isn’t removed

Also would consider the amount of sleeve patients who end up with doing another surgery from sleeve to bypass

    Good luck on your decision!
