  1. Surgery date 10/8 , down 16lbs. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall this week but the scale finally moved today. I have a total food aversion to chicken. I'm cleared to eat it but I feel horrible after doing so... nauseous, gassy and in pain. Even when its soaked in gravy. I was trick or treating last night with my kids and drinking water while walking. Strangely enough, water went down super easy while walking. I'm sure it was because I was mobile, but I might try to take a bottle of water on a walk now and kill 2 bbn birds with 1 stone.
  2. I wouldn't describe what I feel as hunger. Lots of head hunger for sure... My stomach just kind of gurgles and makes too much noise when I go too long without eating. Its definitely not what I used to feel as hunger.
  3. I've been on the nuvaring for 9 years now (minus when I was trying to get pregnant/pregnant). I like it well enough. As with many contraceptives, there is a risk for blood clots, but I'm trying to minimize them (I dont smoke and I'm trying to loose weight). Actually birth control was one of the things that drove me to surgery. I was trying to get an iud after my son was born and the obgyn couldn't visualize my cervix well due to its placement and my level of obesity. That was like a big slap in my face to wake me up and here we are. ??‍♀️
  4. I had a Foley for almost 24 hours after surgery. Honestly... I needed it. I was so out of it from the anesthesia that I dont know if I would have been coherent enough to get up and go to the bathroom or realize I even had the urge to go. Anesthesia hits me HARD. It was like that with my first csection. [emoji29]
  5. I had my surgery on 10/8 (it was bypass but that post is so quiet... [emoji852]). Hoping to get discharged this morning. I have had no urges to consume anything but I'm making myself drink some warm decaffeinated tea right now. I just cant wait to be in my own bed!
  6. I actually have had dumping syndrome before bypass. It occurs vary randomly and usually when I eat something sweet like a caramel chocolate bar or something of the such. I get "cold sweats" about 15 mins after eating said item along with RUQ cramps. I immediately have to get to the bathroom because diarrhea quickly follows. I hope it doesn't mean Illl dump worse with gastric bypass but it is an excellent deterrent. I usually refuse to eat the food that causes the issue for a couple months afterwards
  7. I made if to the other side. I'm not going to lie, I am in a lot of pain but I think most of it is gas pain that's having trouble getting out. I just keep telling myself "you wanted this"!
  8. We have the same exact surgery date and time! Itll be okay! We've come too far to turn back now
  9. Surgery is tomorrow morning at 730! I'm getting a pedicure currently. Just trying to keep my mind busy! I cant handle anymore of this pre OP diet. Im craving meat like no tomorrow.
  10. We got this guys! One hour at a time sometimes! Hubby and I have been trying to keep busy on my days off to keep food off my mind. It's getting easier, but i definitely have an easier time at work than at home.
  11. Hi everyone! I have bypass scheduled for Oct 8th. I started the preop diet 2 days early because I had a couple days eating my favorite (chicken wings [emoji39]). I didn't do any major damage, but I know I have imperfect eating habits so I'm trying to do the best I can. Plus my surgeons group threatens to cancel surgeries the day of if not enough weight is lost on the preop diet. I've lost 9.5lbs since Friday. I get 3 shakes a day and 2 small low calorie snacks like a cup of broth or a cheese stick. I'm struggling but I just keep telling myself I've come too far and have spent to much money to go back now! We can do this!
  12. 28 year old wife and mother of 2. ER nurse. Army vet. Total foodie and into traveling. I'm hoping to start my masters degree this winter!
  13. Just an update! I was approved for surgery back in the beginning of August, but they were all booked up for September so I will be getting my RNY October 8th! So excited! I waited a month to get my surgery date and I was starting to get discouraged and rethink the whole thing
  14. Good luck! You got this! [emoji136]‍♀️
  15. Yeah I’m making the changes they recommended. The scale is moving in the right direction, just slowly. I lose a little bit, hit a stall, lose a little bit, hit a stall. I had two months in the middle of this process where I gained weight (from poor choices) and I am so frustrated at myself because I had to lose the weight I gained (I did) and am now chipping away at the surgeons goal.
  16. I have my month 6 appt on the 24th , and I’m desperately trying to lose the last few lbs to get approved by my surgeon. According to the office, insurance would approve me but the surgeon likes to see you lose a set amount before he approves you so he sees that you’re putting in a “conscious effort”. ? He’s known to not give surgery dates until you meet his goal.
  17. Hi ??I’d like to join in on this topic. Not quite 300lb (297 at my highest) but at 5’0”, I have many of the same issues. 3x clothes were getting too tight, couldn’t fit in booths at restaurants, most theme park rides off limits and a BMI well over 50 ?. I’m in month 5 of preop and the pounds have not been coming off easily. I had quite a few food issues to address, but I feel like I’m finally drinking the koolaid (sugar free of course). The hardest thing was giving up soda. I crave ice cold root beer with crunchy small ice cubes. I haven’t set a weight goal. I just want to be able to shop in a nonplus size store and actually fit something without looking like a sausage in it.
