  1. I was also banded on May 20th!! We rock and will be fine...just keep reading these posts and walking and following all the doc's orders to a tee!! We will find success and new health  I just today figured out how to use the ticker thing, thanks to computer-wiz DD. I am sore too but "pain is inevitable, suffering is optional" and I sick of suffering from all my co-morbidities and lugging around all that weight!! I am showered and off to church, but first a swig of the old pain meds...gotta love that stuff (tee hee)
  2. I am so thrilled for you and your wise decisions to take care of yourself and role model for your little one. I wish I had the knowledge and support that you do at 25 yrs old. I just kept on getting bigger and bigger...you will not have all of the co morbidities one gets later in life and will be so much happier, the way God intended for you to be!! I had my band put on Tues at 58 yrs old, and started with a BMI of 50 and am down 20 with preop diet, etc. I am so happy to have done this...keep your eye on the prize and thank God your Granny is supporting the no more McD's thing. The child will stop hollering and make it a fun adventure for her! Maybe she can start finding photos in magazines of good foods for you both. Nutitionists will always help with kids, show them food groups...it's fun at that age and good to know now. Good Luck Darling, I am so proud of you!! You have no way to go but up with your health and happiness. ((Hugs)) ChristyC in Michigan
  3. Just had my surgery Tues. and had four bags of frozen peas to rotate around in the freezer...two on two, refreezing. They work wonderfully. My hospital used ice packs. I never used to use them as they were inconvenient until someone suggested "frozen bags of peas". They mold to your form and fit anywhere. I think the cold shrinks swelling...makes things go down. Just try it and see. It was a new thing for me and worked. Good luck...ChristyC
  4. I just went on line to read about band slippage! I am fine, no nausea or pain or reflux. LOLOL What a worry wart. It just is almost too good to be true, I am so grateful that I am now a Bandito!! :rolleyes2: ChristyC
  5. I had my lap band in Tues, and had the normal ouches and pulls, etc. I have been using ice, and can tell if I take too much liquid, as it hurts some but subsides. Now all of a sudden, while using an ice pack last night...I have no more pain. It is all gone. My question is...duh, could this band have slipped? I did lift something yesterday morning that I shouldn't have, it didn't hurt then. I am thinking, what if the disappearance of pain is because of slippage..LOL Why can't I just accept the fact, I am healed!! LOL I still notice twinges of fullness, not pain...that is the normal reaction, correct?? It has been 4 days post op. Silly me...ChristyC
  6. YEA!! Praise the Lord, I am Banded, as of Tuesday!! It all happened so fast and well, I let the Lord lead the way for a change!! My hubby is feeling betting (he was sick going down State) but he and his side of the family had a nice stay while I was down there in the hospital. I am home in nightie right now, enjoying liquid pain killer and the frozen juice things. The Isopure I got at a GNC on the way is a Godsend...I highly recomend that stuff. The only real challenge is getting my pills in, have to cut everything up so small with small sips of water....not complaining tho' that is a minor detail. Every once in a while I "remember" that I have my lap band tool now and don't have to have the weight drag me down anymore! I just smile and PTL. I am so grateful to God, my family and you folks for the support and prayers!! ((Hugs)) to all and keep posting, we need each other. ChristyC from Michigan :rolleyes2:
  7. Well, Fellow Saints, we are leaving in about an hour for the Lap Band Center. It is a 6 hr drive, so going the night before. (My hubby is feeling OK, still under the weather. I think it is his gall bladder....better get mine done, before his! He is very grumpy but trying poor guy.) Thanks for the prayers and support, love reading all the comments. It has been a true blessing to have all this pre-surgery insight. This "Christian site", makes such a difference. How does anyone go thru trials, and life w/o the Lord! I have lost about 15 pounds with my liquid preop diet..even my knees hurt less. Wow, I am so excited!! :tt2: :frown: Praise the Lord....'talk to you when I return. ((Hugs)) ChristyC in Michigan ~~Prayers and best wishes to others who are being banded this week!!
  8. My hubby awoke sick this a.m. and admitted he hadn't been well for a day or so (He never wants to speak out sickness) ....well we have a 6 hr ride to my surgery tomorrow!!! I know that the enemy is trying to throw a wrench in this but I am victorious! Please agree with me!! He is still in bed at 2:24 pm and I hope he can sleep this off....Thanks, ChristyC
  9. I just heard about it today....don't know what it is, but this woman said she was denied and threw that at the insurance company and she was approved immediately!! What ever it is, it worked for her!! ChristyC
  10. I am being banded Tues. and I already have a grade 3 pannus! I was told to lose 100 lbs then insurance would pay for PS. I just read about someone who had to threaten their insurance co with "Obesity Law" and it worked immediately. I am not sure what that is, but ask!! Something to make you laugh in the meantime: I was telling my 40 yr old neighbor about the lap band for his obese wife, and he said, "Does that mean if she lost lots of weight, she could get that origami thing on her body afterwards?" LMBO Hey this is just a bump in the road, it will work for you, never fear!! You have come a long way and doing an excellent job!! ChristyC
  11. Hello Ladies...I am being banded on May 20th also. As far as a pre-op diet my doc says to try and lose a "little weight", as to shrink my liver to make the surgery easier for him. I am trying...I only had three weeks for this and did okay in the beginning but now my "nervousness" reaction is making me nibble on more. So today, for three days I am trying to do high protein liquids. GOOD PRACTICE I think. I do have a BBQ B-day party on Sunday, but plan to take my protein drink. I figure it's time for reality! I pray that we all are safe and successful, and that angels will be all around us!! God Bless, ChristyC
  12. I LOVE swimming and the water too!! That is what I visualize when upset or drifting off for surgery...must be part fish. I am excited, what in the heck is the Central Coast? I live on the North coast...know where that is? LOL Good luck with your research, hope you decide soon. ChristyC
  13. WOW...that sounds great! I am being banded this coming Tues. and I would like an instant replay of what you had!! Take care and thanks for sharing. ChristyC in Michigan
  14. 'Praying for you Smilin Apple....let us know how you are doing?! I am getting a bit nervous for Tues. I was doing well on pre op diet and tonight started some "emotional" eating. Eeeks, don't want to go there. I have not prayed today....wow, that is usually my problem. Not by strength, Not by might but by your Power, saith the Lord of Hosts Lord help us all, not to run ahead of YOU!! ChristyC
  15. May surgery is May 20th and God has been in all of this. I am so blessed and really looking forward to this new "chance" to re-build the temple (MINE) LOL There are so many exciting things happening in this old world, I want to be here to give God the Glory and be a watchman on the wall!! Please pray for my safety in surgery for Tues May 20th. I will let you know when I am banded. PTL ChristyC in Michigan
  16. Hi...I am being banded May 20th and am more worried about going to a big fancy wedding 4 weeks after surgery! There will be lots of food, drinks, family anxiety, etc. And this morning I solved all my problems!! I told my adult dd that I would skip the reception and go to the hotel with the little ones!! Much less stress for full liquids and all the social and family pressures. WHAT a relief. It sure feels good to take a step for me for a change!! ChristyC
  17. Oh Honey, you are just fine. Take a deep breath!! My BMI is 50 and I am 58 and am being banded next week. Get some counseling and/or a support system where you live. They are all over, ask any medical people. It will be wonderful for you to get rid of the weight, I am sure. I rely on the Lord and help from counselors. The lap band is a tool to work with and you will have help along the way. Just take is easy on yourself. You deserve to be healthy and happy!! ChristyC
  18. Hi.. I will not be banded until next week, but you should call the doctor for peace of mind. Men are a bit more "sensitive" and love to be "taken care of", if you get my drift. But, just in case, call the doctor. I have a hubby and several sons!! Experienced Mama. ChristyC
  19. Hi, I am a newbie (Surgery 5-20) and I am trying to set up my ticker thing on this site. I have it made and ready to paste the code somewhere, BUT WHERE does it get pasted. Any help please!! Thanks so much, ChristyC
  20. Hi Sally....you are right, about being closer than Mexico. You don't go there for the fills do you??? ChristyC
  21. I am so excited to see a Christian Site!! Praise the Lord. I am getting banded May 20th...and will want prayer for that please. I know my Lord is so good and merciful, and am I thankful for this opportunity!! I will keep reading, but am sure glad you are all here. ChristyC in Michigan
  22. Hi I am right behind you. I am from the U.P. and traveling down State for mine...excited and wanting to get it done! ChristyC
  23. I live in Sault Sainte Marie way up in da U.P. My surgery is May 20th in Port Huron, quite a drive but worth it. I am doing the preop diet now, starting today....challenging but not impossible. ChristyC
  24. I wish I would have stood up for my health at your age (judging by your pretty picture!) I am being banded at the end of May at the age of 58...and believe me there will always be parties and birthdays. You can do it after your banding as your will have a tool to work with. Just say no and take care of yourself in the meantime!! You all will be fine. Good for you taking care of yourself!! ChristyC
  25. I would love to chat with others, but am new and cannot figure how to get emails, etc. I am 58:ohmy: with a BMI of 50 and ready to rock and roll. I am sick of weight and diabetes and plan to get back to my old athletic self real soon. I am in Michigan and going to Port Huron Lap Band Center with Dr. Bhesenia on May 20th. It is 6 hour drive and I would walk if I had too. I am hoping to break even on gasoline by the food I'll save! ChristyC
