After going thru the entire program in 2015-16 ,being never told I had completed and was approved, my job was terminated and lost insurance coverage. I thought I had only completed 5 of the 6 required dietary consults. I had not persued it at that time, I'm told recently former insurance only required 5 sessions. They were only waiting on a new # from new insurance carrier, they could have told me then but failed to. Hokay,I then[emoji7]
started the process over last fall, did all my different requirements all over, had all done by the end of 2017. Have been waiting with somewhat baited breath for a surgery date, had 1 person call from surgeon's office and gave me February 15, turns out she was a minor peon and spoke out of turn. Official person called last Friday, said---'" oh by the way psychologist wouldn't clear you for surgery. "This person when I saw her face-to-face told me I had passed all requirements and she would be telling them that. 1st time thru I had talked to a full psychiatrist and things were fine, well I'm the same old me as I was then, Now I am told their commitee-' I call them the Bariatric Court of Appeals ---will be meeting February 20 to review my case. Do they over-ride the faulty assesment, does my surgeon have the necessary man bits, (I'd use the proper Spanish term but I don't want Alex to ban me,) to go forth with this surgery as I think he should? All the sudden I feel like like I've fallen into a beauty pageant and I'm being voted whether I'm Miss Congeniality. Does desire ,weight loss & commitment count for anything? I've cut my weight down 32 lbs ---and at my age and activity level it ain't easy!
My Bariatric Facilitator Amber says to relax, and everthing will be All right, if everything is so okay then this isn't a game that should have been played. My past approval should count for something.I need this surgery, it is my last best hope for better health and a longer lifespan. If I wasn't depressed before, I am now. It is difficult to accept I am unfit and unworthy, I've fought that battle --'hearing that from family and so called friends.[emoji25][emoji25][emoji8]

Hey guys, want a quick giggle at my expense? Late hubby and I were doing the mattress man no with me on top. Okay I WAS a little smaller then, at any rate we had just gotten a new bed and mattress. No footboard, I catapulted over the end of the bed, ended up on my back, on the floor with my feet up in the air. Kinda looked like a cross between a dead cow and a beached whale. I started to giggle and he told me to shut up before I woke up the kids. Guess he felt his best love-making efforts had been in vain.

D Roseman and I share a state, we are both Buckeyes. I'm from the center part, she's from the NW part and not too far from Lake Erie. I've been following her journey and I imagine she's been following mine. I'm guessing she'll have hers hefore I have mine but we'll see. After your surgery they'll be wrong about everything being bigger in Texas, because I have faith you're going to be smaller. It may be a bumpy ride but it's going to be so worth it. If there's anything any of us can do to help you we'll be only too happy to. I myself have learned so much from the veterans here I'd like to pay it forward. Welcome to Bariatric Pal.

Fluffster when you have a moment go over to my Change Your Hospital posting. Things are not perfect in the Emerald City. I didn't mention it before because I didn't want to be a raincloud on your happy parade. I am jelly for your successful journey but very happy it's turning out so well. Read it and then get back to me. My [emoji307] to Mr F and Sissy.

I took omeprazole capsules. I opened them and poured the insides in my mouth then swallowed with Water or sauce. I had no problem with taking them this way . My prescription is for one year so I think it will vary greatly by surgeon. I’ve never had GERD and was surprised I had to take them for so long.

Lol I'm sure I would have done that exact same thing. My late husband, I woke up one AM, spoke to him, he didn't answer, touched him and he felt cool, I stuck my hand in the back of his briefs and touched his bum. He woke up, oh my did he ever. Good thing I could run faster than him cause he was NOT happy.

Confession: I asked my friend T a year ago if she had cancer. Duh she had had weight loss surgery, I was dumb, her hair was thin and suddenly so was her body. I know if it had been cancer she would have beat it but,I'm happy for her and myself it was WLS. I'm glad T is still my friend after all this.

Hmm ***let me take a moment for introspection. My fat was a protective cocoon, an invisabity cloak (we all know fat people are invisible to the average person) a warm blanket that kept me safe and protected from those that would hurt me. I was insulated and isolated. But a new spring is coming, I can peel off the layer of restrictive flesh from my body. I'll dance in the sunlight of good health. It may be a struggle, it may take awhile, but the trade-off for me is more than worth it. And I suspect I won't miss it at all.

I'm here, always ready to listen, I'm the Bariatric Grandma, probably the oldest pal currently, doesn't mean I have everything together, just means it took a few more years for me to have my "come to Jesus" moment about weight loss. Like many I tried diets, most every one to come out under the sun, least I ever weighed was 7lb12oz, most 355 last October. I'm currently 323 on a 5ft8in body so I have a BMI of 47-48. I'm widowed have 1 son who lives with,me code name on here is Tomkitten, real name is Bryan, 1 daughter R D short for Rotten Daughter and she so richly deserves the title, and 1 son who died suddenly at 31, of an underdiagnosed heart abnormality. So I have had some sorrow in my life, but then we all have. I am 72,recently parted company with 1 bariatric program and will be switching to another. I had contact with ex program for 2 1/2 years, after putting my faith and trust in them they kicked me to the curb. If you want to hear more I can tell you or you can go to my posting on "Change Your Hospital" I wrote it shortly after the experience. I am not soured on WLS in general, only on them. I will be happy and proud to answer any and all questions you have. I originally was having bariatric surgery early-mid March in Columbus Ohio, now maybe a slight delay but I still plan a roux n Y gastric bypass. I have done oodles of research, feel it's best for my case but know about VSG and the others. Also had a lot of life experience, a straight shooting type of gal, I promise never to tell you any lies. I've suffered with esteem issues also, low confidence. Don't sound like it? Well I'm a lot braver on paper than I was in the real life. I was a wet soggy doormat for friends and family, went through a lot of belittlements and putdowns trying to win love. First thing I thought was I'm not worthwhile, I'm a nobody, I don't deserve to be treated better. Then I reared back on my haunches, said I gave no one permission to treat me shabbily and I'm trying to stand up tall and proud again. I've had 2 knee replacements so not as easy as it once was. But i will make it through, I'm tough, I'm strong and I deserve the best of everything. Also have sleep apnea, GERD and arthritis but I'll still keep going.

Still healthier than 298, you've lost a high school cheerleader already. Isn't it nice to not drag her around with you? You're better than you were before, keep your diet and fluids smooth, don't slack off with exercise and you will be fine. Weight loss can be bumpy at times.

I agree with Mattymatt, my area of Ohio is lucky that all 3 hospitals offering surgeries in Columbus-Ohio State University, Riverside Methodist and, mine Mount Carmel are ranked as Bariatric Centers of Excellence. When you plan for something this life changing you want to seek the best.
