  1. I concur with stabb009, bluegirl. Think,of food As a boyfriend who doesn't want to break up with you. Food, especially fast food, is saying" You promised you'd be with me forever You promised" He's trying to play on your emotions so you will let him stay. Meanwhile you're sore and hurting from your surgery. Sure you did really want it,but it is a shock,to,the body and takes a while to get over. There may be days where you can barely get around but try to keep moving even if walking around the house. There has been enough witnesses on here that say each day gets better. A little why-me-itus is common. The pain on the left side, might be where they pulled your stomach out if you were a sleeve, even it you were a bypass you might be tender there. From now on you're going to have a grownup relationship with food, when you get back to soft and solid foods you'll be eating to live, just not very big portions, not living to eat just so it doesn't leave the room or get away from you. I'm a mommy, I used to be the family garbage can, not no more. Too often I ate things so I didn't have to refrigerate it. Finally saw the light and I didn't have to open the fridge to do it. Your family, bless their little misguided hearts, don't understand. They can't unless they have gone through it. You are normal and you are wonderful, don't ever lose sight of that. You will get through this and be stronger on the other side. Next month I'll be having mine and I'll need you to be strong and reassuring for me if I need it. We[emoji307] YOU. 2. You're not alone, you have all of us on Bariatric Pal. Oh, I could give you a list of all the misplaced advice each of us was given, do you want that? Nope , I didn't think so. You are doing this first and foremost for yourself. You have realized the way I'm living isn't working, I can't live like this anymore. Maybe you've tried diet after diet, they didn't work for you. You might have lost some weight but couldn't keep it off. So you've asked for some help from your doctor and by extension- us. First ,surgery is not the easy way out, it is a rough choice to make, takes a firm commitment to see it through, it can be body altering and life changing. Those of us here have seen and understand the struggle and are still going forward. I myself am 72 years old., a lot of my contemporaries would be content to sit on their haunches in a rocking chair, get fatter until they die. Not this lady, I know I'll have an uphill battle but I'm going to do it. I'm in it to win it, even if I have only a few more years, I'm going to live them thinner and healthier. As Reba McEntire says," I'm a Survivor" and survive I shall ! I ask all of you to join me on this journey, won't be quick and easy, and there will be some sacrifice but it will be so so worth it. Come on! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Don't know why you popped up here but I would suspect within a few business days of completing all your prerequirements. How long does it take after that? Anywhere from instantly to 7-10 business days. Not very long in the grand scheme of things. Best wishes and hope of a happy sunny day.
  4. Overjoyed to hear your Good news. I'm pre surg with similar things going in, now you've inspired me, already knew it's the correct decision for me. Send good thoughts my way in March, okay? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. Just a few days before I would think. My buddy Fluffy Chix just had hers at the surgeon's Friday and her surgery is next Tuesday. I'm sure they weigh you again on the morning of your surgery. Always checking if anything changes so they can titrate your medication dosages. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Remember you did this for you not for them. Shake them off mentally, keep making your strides even if they are small steps they still count. You can and will do this, take pride in yourself. i of all people, know how hard it is,,i spent my whole life trying to please people until I wore myself out. Did they like me more for it? Nope I just became a soggy little doormat, you get weary of of having everybody wipe their feet,on you. Today is your day, live your life to the best,of your abilities. We[emoji307] you kid! 7. Hi animalrescuer, it's not too early to get into training. Ditch high carb snacks, lower cola, sodas and coffee until they are gone completely. If you can't go cold turkey on coffee, go,to half caff then decaf and then phase it out. Lower fats in your diet. Fish and chicken and turkey, instead of red, meats and pork. Bake, broil and microwave instead of fried. Yeah I'm not as perfect as I should be, I know better I just don't do better. Are you, looking forward to surgery? i know I am, I get awfullly, impatient for the actual day. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Apple203 today you're the Apple of my eye and a funny person to meet, even if it's on line. We've been through Fluffy Chix's trials and tribulations haven't we? Care to join me on the sidelines Tuesday morning while we cheer her into the OR? I'll be the one with the pompoms guarding her stash of Premier Protein. 9. Ask any questions you want, we all want to help anyway we can. I'm pre surg myself although I've been a Bariatric Pal for several months. We have a lot of WLS veterans on here, they have or are still fighting pounds on their journeys but still have time to mentor and encourage us all. I'm 72, planning early-mid March RnY at Mount Carmel in Columbus Ohio. More frightened of not having surgery than the actual surgery. I can do this. I'm in it to win it. Won't be the walk in the park it is for the younger ones but I can still rescue a smaller size and good health from the grasp of chubbyhood. Care to join me on this long fruitful journey? The best is just ahead. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Kristen -welcome. Yes I think we've all had these fears. I am at the opposite end of life , sometimes I call myself, the Bariatric Grandma, although,, in your case even Great grandma. I am 72,climb up on my virtual lap. First, you are doing something, good for your 3year old little angel. She needs her mommy, she needs her healthy and strong. A lot of us set down our bad eating habits at her age, grabbing what would fit in our tiny little hands. In my case it was probably,my mamma's soft applesauce cookies with raisins and caramel frosting on top. If I'd know then, it would have been celery or carrot sticks. Ah, coulda, woulda, shoulda! At any rate- at a lower weight, you'll be able to chase after her, play with her, lay down good memories, I remember walking through my grandparents woods, picking flowers, even fishing. Yeah, both of my parents fished. Growing a garden together, I had my own little flower bed along side, helping pick fresh produce out of the garden, nothing better than fresh little leaves of lettuce in a salad. I remember telling Daddy I helped Mamma with the peas, I picked them me-self. Sure it might have been faster if she'd done it, but i was so proud. The surgery will give you chances to be here with it all, you won't be tired, sick and trapped in a no fun body. You won't be saying "I can't do that,"you'll be turning somersaults and doing handstands. You'll be So proud of how you look that you'll be confident and more sexy, when you feel better about yourself you'll be more fun in and out of bed. Daddy will be happy to have a partner that isn't out of breath, you'll be able to ring his chimes as much as you want. Happy Daddies are no longer Sad Daddies. If you put your mind to it I know you WILL make a success of it. It will,be a slow daily journey through this, you didn't gain the weight in one day, it will take oodles of days to get it off. But it can be done. I'm facing surgery myself, it will be less easy at my age, but I have a strong will (as do you) and I can and shall make thru to health and thin-ness. Your skin will snap back and smooth out at your age, keep up exercising even if its walking more, I've been obese for so many years and mine is so stretched out I'll probably, look like a Shar Pei. But praise God I'll still be alive and kicking and giving my opinions on everything under the sun! Join me on this weight loss journey, the best is yet to come! Never entertain regrets- cause joy and peace are coming yet. Your new (and somewhat older) friend. ME Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

I am a future RnYer, hoping for early-mid March at Mount Carmel in Columbus Ohio. If you're a future sleeved thats fine, I liken it to the difference between rifles and shotguns, they both shoot nicely and they do get the job done. I'm friends with most everybody. In my years of life I've encountered. A lot of things so can talk on any subject, sometimes i don't even need a subject. Ask anything, If I dont have an answer someone on Bariatric Pal will. Welcome again, hope you'll enjoy being here and good, luck for the future. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

  20. Welcome aussieslady, we seem to be getting a lot of people from "down under" even have BiddyNZ from New Zealand. Tell us,more about yourself if you like. I am in Central Ohio about 14 miles from the Geographic Center. I plan a early-mid March at Mount Carmel in Columbus Ohio..I am a future RnY, widowed 5 1/2 years, my main support person my son who I call my Tomkitten, his real name is Bryan. I am 72 years old, yes a little old to compete in the Bariatric Rodeo. But I'm going to make sure I can be successful. Columbus is 50 miles hmm 80 km? from where i live. A cool rainy morning where I live, on the Olympics Russia is ahead 4 -0 over USA in ice hockey Not looking too good for my side. Wish they'd go to,freestyle ski, This isn't too much fun to watch. So where in Australia do you live? You're in your summer so it might be warm and sunny there. I think we have people from NSW, South Australia, and think someone from Brisbane a while back. 21. It's called a stall, there are stories about that all over Bariatric Pal. Are you following your surgeon's advice on post surgery , getting in your fluids etc? Your body may be regrouping and realigning itself, trying to get all balanced. Remember your body was happy ---happy when you were heavier, it could bebop along, laying down additional fat cells. It may have even been singing "Blumpie Blumpier Blumpie." All the sudden your surgery has said "Halt--- we are now going to live off of and utilize the energy in her fat cells" Body is a little peeved over this term of affairs, says" I don't like this. Can't things be like before? "So it stalls out, but you're going to make it behave and suddenly you start losing again. The 3 week stall one is famous but it can happen other times , weight loss isn't always smooth but if you stay the course IT WILL HAPPEN. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. If they aren't healing right you would have reddened areas around them, have discharge coming from them, be raised up instead of flattening out, starting to gape open or threads coming out. If none of these you are probably okay. Remember you don't just have surface healing places, you're still healing down inside your body also. 97% sure you'll be Just fine if you give it time but check with your surgeon's office just to be safe. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Think of it as your body pausing to regroup and realign , then it will relax and the weight loss probably will resume. In the meantime you might have NSV like your clothes and shoes becoming looser. It will all balance out but it's hard to stay patient. Don't stress yourself out.
