  1. D Roseman and I share a state, we are both Buckeyes. I'm from the center part, she's from the NW part and not too far from Lake Erie. I've been following her journey and I imagine she's been following mine. I'm guessing she'll have hers hefore I have mine but we'll see. After your surgery they'll be wrong about everything being bigger in Texas, because I have faith you're going to be smaller. It may be a bumpy ride but it's going to be so worth it. If there's anything any of us can do to help you we'll be only too happy to. I myself have learned so much from the veterans here I'd like to pay it forward. Welcome to Bariatric Pal. 4. I'm here, always ready to listen, I'm the Bariatric Grandma, probably the oldest pal currently, doesn't mean I have everything together, just means it took a few more years for me to have my "come to Jesus" moment about weight loss. Like many I tried diets, most every one to come out under the sun, least I ever weighed was 7lb12oz, most 355 last October. I'm currently 323 on a 5ft8in body so I have a BMI of 47-48. I'm widowed have 1 son who lives with,me code name on here is Tomkitten, real name is Bryan, 1 daughter R D short for Rotten Daughter and she so richly deserves the title, and 1 son who died suddenly at 31, of an underdiagnosed heart abnormality. So I have had some sorrow in my life, but then we all have. I am 72,recently parted company with 1 bariatric program and will be switching to another. I had contact with ex program for 2 1/2 years, after putting my faith and trust in them they kicked me to the curb. If you want to hear more I can tell you or you can go to my posting on "Change Your Hospital" I wrote it shortly after the experience. I am not soured on WLS in general, only on them. I will be happy and proud to answer any and all questions you have. I originally was having bariatric surgery early-mid March in Columbus Ohio, now maybe a slight delay but I still plan a roux n Y gastric bypass. I have done oodles of research, feel it's best for my case but know about VSG and the others. Also had a lot of life experience, a straight shooting type of gal, I promise never to tell you any lies. I've suffered with esteem issues also, low confidence. Don't sound like it? Well I'm a lot braver on paper than I was in the real life. I was a wet soggy doormat for friends and family, went through a lot of belittlements and putdowns trying to win love. First thing I thought was I'm not worthwhile, I'm a nobody, I don't deserve to be treated better. Then I reared back on my haunches, said I gave no one permission to treat me shabbily and I'm trying to stand up tall and proud again. I've had 2 knee replacements so not as easy as it once was. But i will make it through, I'm tough, I'm strong and I deserve the best of everything. Also have sleep apnea, GERD and arthritis but I'll still keep going. 9. I intend to land on my feet, I may look like a sweet Puddycat on the outside but inside lies a sleek fawn colored cougar ready to pounce. Tonight,i feel like biting a surgeon or 3, maybe by morning I may mellow down but tonight I will roar if necessary. Fool me once -Shame on you- Fool me twice -Shame on me. 11. Nikkinikolle and breholly, now don't bicker, those mean ole doctors don't understand do they? Everybody wants to be m*e*a*n to my little darlings, tain't fair is it? H20 every 15 minutes, who would have thunk it? Want Mama Kat to pound on them? I'm feeling in a mean mood toward surgeons tonight, if you read some of my other postings you'll know why. 15. Aussieslady ---things did not turn out well, read my topic" Change Your Hospital", I was original poster on it. I am a soap opera and a cheap, non well- constructed one at that. I could consider not living anymore but I'm the wronged person here, so why punish me? Let my persecutors be struck down instead of me. I've never cried down a vendetta on someone but does anyone have a spare Uncle Vito I could borrow? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

  18. Update and cold*** sober serious**** After a relationship of 2 1/2 years, off and on, I feel my bariatric program has kicked me to the curb. I completely finished the program once- in Spring 2016 and after a change of insurance, the new insurance had approved me for surgery and I could have had it then. They never told me of this fact until maybe a week ago. I started the process once again in November 2017, got all my prerequirements done December 2017 thru January 2018. Things looking well , yes? Not so you' d notice, when checking over my paperwork the contracted psychologist not even affiliated with the hospital had given me a less than stellar evaluation. This self-same person had told me face to face I had passed all testing and she would submit it into my records. Not my word against hers for my son (who is an adult) heard her also. So they had a meeting yesterday, I called it the Bariatric Court of Appeals. I was ruled against, none of the 3 surgeons were willing to continue the case. The scheduling woman who called me back suggested I get counselling, how can I do that when I don't know where I did wrong or what hidden flaws I may have? I did receive a grudging admittal that the records belong to me and could be released to another program of my choosing. So I called the other programs in that city, both Centers of Excellence Hospitals, one wanted the paperwork and then they would consider me, the other invited me to the first informational seminar they had open during the day, March 10th, said I could fill out release of information paperwork that day and get things moving.Which one do I really want? To tell the truth I wanted the place that was not faithful to me. I had re-arrainged my life to have nothing bar the early-mid March date they had originally promised. Will I have to start back at the total beginning of a new program, Gee i hope not for I am not getting any younger. Do I feel my deepest wishes and desires were violated? Dang straight! Those if you who have read my postings know me to be a level- headed straight shooter of a gal. I hate duplicity in any form, always have, always will.I am not doing well being told I am unworthy, not good enough or important enough to go forward with surgery. I would have tried my best to be a model patient, wouldn't have complained of pain or anything else. They did not give me a fair chance to be successful. Do I go along losing a pound or 2 a week and hope that's enough to prevent me from dying prematurely? I can't lose any more sizable amount without surgical assistance, Lord knows I've tried everything up to and including starving myself. No diet really works. Any advice Bari-brothers and Bari-sisters?----- kakatlady 612 Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Hey I forget, are you going to be a sleeve or bypass? I'm asking because there are threads started in both forums. An April-May in Sleeve and a May in bypass that I'm OP on. At any rate answer one and bring it out into the open, okay? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. Fluffy, time to stir. Fluff and smooth those feathers and tell me how things are going. Have you started the sipping and walking? Remember you got to stir them drumsticks today GIRL. 21. Ah little green what can I say? I am very happy hubs is returning to work. I know you were s******g bricks there, I want your surgery sooner, that's just me, I don't want anybody I care about to suffer a bit of pain. My problems? They were supposed to have met yesterday morning to review my case, I call it the Bariatric Court of Appeals. I hung around the house Tuesday for a call, finally called them about 2 pm, was told she was on a call and would call me back. Waited a hour, hour and half, called only to be told she had left for the day. Oh well, says person on other end of line, She'll probably call you Wednesday. Bull feathers I'm waiting until 9 AM then I'm gonna. call again. The old saying is: the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I'm gonna lurk like a garden variety predator until I get an answer. Reminds me of a Bible verse: (yeah I live in Bible Belt North) "Are you he whom we seek or shall we look for another?" If you are not willing to complete my surgery release me and my records and I'll apply to another program. My late father had a saying S**t or get off the Pot, dang if it don't hold true. I hate, loathe and abominate ambivalence in anything. I've cried, had all kinds of scenarios run through my mind, I'm mentally wrung out. You and I both are going to look Goth with the dark circles under our eyes. I've tried to keep my diet restrained but I don't know if it still is worth it, I have tried so so hard to do this, like there is a reward for diligence and stubbornness. Meanwhile I've maybe lost a couple more pounds, if that. If I could sustain a weight loss that was sizable on my own I wouldn't be seeking surgery. And I try to tell the Newbies it will be worth it all etc. I am starting to feel like always a bridesmaid, never the bride. There are 2 more programs in Columbus, one at Riverside Methodist, the other at Ohio State University-Wexner Medical Center. I applied where I did because it sounded more like my core values and 2. Upon the recommendations of my PCP. He graduated from OSU and did his residency at Riverside but still recommended Mount Carmel. All of the 3 are Bariatric Centers of Excellence. Would either of them accept the pretestings I've done or would I have to start over from the beginning? Do I have the emotional strength to,do this AGAIN? I tell everybody on Bariatric Pal I am strong and can handle anything the world can throw at me but I'm getting so bone*** weary, Little Green. Its not like I have years and years to undo the damage obesity did to ME . I'm getting run down, I still have my allergic pinkeye now I feel like my chest tightness is reverting to pneumonia. I've had both kinds of pneumonia shots but what I've got deep down doesn't seem to be leaving. Probably should go see my PCP, hate admitting to him I haven't had my surgery yet. He's been an emotional cheerleader for me all along. Haven't from heard yet from Fluffy Chix I do hope everything went well yesterday. Well time to put my big girl panties on, yank them up so I give myself a wedgie and call Columbus. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I just was thinking if my surgeon suddenly decides he wants an abdominal ultra sound both my gastroenterologist and cardiologist have done them within the last 3 months. 24. Well I'm sure a,lot of people will want to comment on this. Dr Matthew Weiner says this is one of the most major decisions in life. You will get people who will tell you horrible stories, same group who go around telling pregnant women the are going to die. Surgery isn't the easy or quick way out. Your body,no matter which surgery you choose, is forever changed. It takes guts to go through it and a lifetime commitment to make it work. You can't just waltz into a surgeon's office, announce you want surgery and get it the next morning. I had to have cardiac & pulmonary clearances, meet with a nutritionist several times, meet with my surgeon and his staff, have a psychological consult cause the surgery can mess with your mind in several ways, some people go into a funk or even worse depression. So you need to be stable mentally to hanle the stressors. I had to have a sleeping study, found out I do have sleep apnea, you will have xrays, ultrasounds, bloodwork and a cute little thing called. an EGD stands for esophagealgasroduodenoscopy, they put a fiberoptic tube down your throat and into your stomach and small intestine and look around. In the US and Canada I know they put you to sleep, I've heard a nasty rumor they do it with you wide awake in some parts of Europe. Do not think that would be enjoyable. Are you doing this for yourself? Are you willing to give up some foods and drinks, either temporarily or permanently? You in all likelihood will never eat large portions, drink, with your meals, things will taste different and some things will either not agree with you or you'll lose desire for. You may have to adhere to an exercise plan or meet with lifestyle coaches. After all this you still want to go forward then I'd say your head is on straight and you may make a success of it all. For me I reached a point where I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I found myself less afraid of surgery and all It entails than remaining fat until I died. And. at 72 that may be closer than I like to think. So I hope in the next 6 weeks to have RnY surgery, it is my hope at a future. If I can lose weight and get healthier I will smile every morning and sing every night. I hope my honesty doesn't frighten you, I figure my advice might help a little. Good night and Godspeed. 25. We all are told at sometime in our life-- "do you know who you look like?"What famous person do you, think or have you been told you most resemble? As an example I think I look Like a love child of Mama Cass and John,Candy. Somebody at the time told me. I looked like John Hinkley, the guy who shot President Ronald Reagan. And my late husband was certain he resembled Elvis. I think my son-in-law looks just like Nicholas Cage. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
