stibitzal got a reaction from Aworknprogress in Please give your feedback
Does anyone have blue cross blue shield anthem health savings account insurance. I did some research turns out my insurance covers the procedure however I have a deductible of 2900 and a max out of pocket of 6500. Can everyone share your experiences with the hospital what were you required to pay day of surgery? Was it your full deductible? I asked my surgeon office but no one is really giving me a straight answer and I would like know what to plan for as I am 6 to 8 months out from having surgery. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same insurance. When I go for my pre-op, I will let you know if I had to pay anything up front.

I don't understand the mentality that you have to be completely open about your surgery on the first couple dates/early in a relationship lol... there's plenty of other ways to explain dietary restrictions without putting everything out there. it's a sensitive/vulnerable topic. honestly, i'm a bit over 7 months into my relationship (9 months post-op) and he doesn't know and probably never will. it isn't a necessity for him to know. a few people got mad at me for posting a thread here where i was feeling a bit upset that he got me chocolates for vday after i asked him not to but the thing is that that's an inconsiderate thing to do just knowing i'm on a diet and have digestive issues, he didn't need to know i had WLS to know better, you know? it's your business who you share it with. i'd explain that you're on a diet and maybe elaborate that you have a hard time digesting certain foods if you want a more solid reason but if they're worth the time they'll be able to respect that you're choosing to eat a certain way.
i don't know what the nightlife scene is like by you and what's accessible but i live inside chicago city limits so generally i like going to cheap shows on dates--there's always cheap improv shows or local bands for $5-$10. if we do get food i make sure i have suggestions in mind for places i can actually eat. bars seem to work ok as well once you're a bit further post-op, if you get 1 drink and drink it slowly over the course of the date.

I am 40 and single right now. Since I've been up and down in weight all of my life, I've only had two relationships and was only in love once. Certainly it would be nice to have the companionship and I can understand your want for it. It's hard for both men and women who are very overweight to date. I'm 6'4" and 170 pounds overweight which puts me at 360 some pounds and I can see the open disgust when I check out some chicks. I am not gonna lie, it hurts but I'm not bitter because I have some shallowness myself but I will never look at anyone who is overweight with disgust. If I were bitter, I would be hypocritical.
I am not even going to try to date until I work on myself: mentally, physically, and emotionally. 2018 is going to be the year that this will happen. Stephanie, I will wager that once you come through weight loss surgery you will be the classic knockout. You're beautiful now. I believe it is the woman whom ultimately chooses the man. You'll have your pick of the men and when you do, enjoy it a little bit. Enjoy being you. It's the greatest feeling in the world and it has only happened to me once in my life. It was the time after I lost a lot of weight the first time. I remember being "chosen" by a woman. At that time, it was one of the greatest feelings in the world.

So I'm about 2 years post-op, just turned 36, and I definitely concur with many people that you really want to get yourself centered, happy, and comfortable before getting out there. I moved to a forest town and adventure all the time (trail run daily and I wouldn't change it for the world!).
I recently started dating after a couple of years focused on me and now being happy and centered in my own existence... it really can be a challenge. I have pretty high expectations and definitely only date people that will positively impact my life.... and it really has been amazing meeting awesome people. Sure there are those that are looking for something different than I am, but for the most part still good people. I'm still single, but have made some pretty amazing friends in this new and wonderful active and adventurous lifestyle of mine... still wouldn't change it for the world!
You'll definitely have your pick and gotta find that person that can keep up with ya, when you're ready!

I am down 98lbs since my sleeve surgery in May 2016. I feel great and for the most part have a pretty secure feeling about everything...however, I am now going to need to purchase a few pieces of clothing. I use tights & stockings that I get from Woman Within but I need to find something besides Spanx for the loose skin thing.
My inner thighs are particularly loose. I work out 5 days a week and I know this is normal thing but how do I look good in all my clothes
    with this skin flapping around?

This is horrible but not at all surprising to me. I have seen some stuff in hospitals.
Please do wait until after you are discharged and then make a report to the hospital administration about your treatment. It may not do a bit of good but you may help someone else not to experience your same nightmare.
I do hope that you get out of there soon.

Thank you! I had looked into Mexico for my dental implant surgery - which we are just finishing up payments for now. My case ended up being too complex to have done there according to the staff where I planned to go, but I had seriously considered it. I admit to feeling a little more hesitant due to the nature of this type of procedure, but I wouldn't rule it out altogether. Hearing about others with positive outcomes definitely helps. At this point all qualified surgeons are on the table (no pun intended, lol).

So after talking to my therapist, doctors office and insurance company the first thing is my therapist that did my evaluation is going to do a peer to peer and explain how he miscommunicated information. Tomorrow I am scheduling a new psych evaluation with a non biased doc that specializes in bariatric psych evaluations and my docs office will use it to appeal. My therapist just did terrible. He was very apologetic today and ever and told me he was so sorry for the miscommunication. So I am sensing no him an email in the morning so he can fix this. I only get 2 appeals so the peer to peer doesn't count as one. I was trying to get everything done quickly to get it submitted to insurance and my gut told me to just go to the psychologist my doctors office recommended. When will I start listening to my gut!!! Uughh

    Best wishes!

stibitzal reacted to AskingForAFriend in Pre Op- thinking of canceling my surgery
I can totally relate. I was supposed to get sleeved on December 18th but I never followed my pre-op diet and mostly that was because I didn't get my approval until 1 week before the surgery. I felt like...why should I follow a pre-op diet if my insurance is just going to decline me? I wasn't mentally prepared, so I didn't cancel my insurance but moved it to March 18th. This gives me plenty of time to go through with the surgery, eat properly, change my diet and do things the right way. Maybe you should do the same thing? I wanted to do it in February but my job asked me to wait until March, possibly spring break (I work for a University) when things aren't so hectic.
