  1. @Frustr8, it definitely felt like a swoosh, but I’m VSG. I really only get it with ground beef too which is crummy! Thank goodness I’m more of a chicken and fish fan...but it was on sale ?
  2. My program allows up to 70 a day once you reach “real” food stage, or end stage. I usually stay around 30-40 unless I’m having a mocha ?
  3. That’ll go away at some point. I was super self conscious about it too. And I had gas x strips and they had no impact on my burps. After a few months I just accepted I was a little bit more of a noisy eater. 8 months out now and it rarely happens.
  4. I’m just over 8 months post op. And I think I’ve found one of “those” foods you react to funny no matter how far out you are. For me, it’s ground beef! I can usually get 3 oz of lean ground beef in before I start hot flashing and sweating! It’s intense. Lasts about 15 minutes. Anyone have a reaction like this to any other foods? I’m just glad there are other protein sources! ?
  5. I read that one as well and enjoyed it.
  6. My nutritionist was useless too. It was stuff a high school student in fitness/nutrition class would know. Google was more helpful
  7. And hug a pillow when you do need to cough. Helps with the pain.
  8. I might be the only one willing to talk about it, but it’s mentally challenging too. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies when you get close to goal. I have a hard time as seeing myself as healthy/thinned. I still very much feel like the fat kid sometimes. Also the “old me” sometimes tries to come back and say “yeah totally go get that Sonic sandwich” and crap like that. Is it better, yes. Is it easier, not in every aspect of life. But that’s just my two cents. I’m young , I have a lot of time to reconcile my feelings about it all ?
  9. I was a 33 BMI I think. I didn’t think about what anyone else’s opinion was. I was 27 and only gaining more. I decided to take control of my diet so I could live my best life. I didn’t feel judged at all by my surgeon office/staff—in fact, my surgeon said I was an ideal patient due to my age and lack of major comorbidities. I also wanted surgery to prevent those too!
  10. ^^ This was me exactly. except for 2.5 weeks of it
  11. I was very anxious before my surgery...up until I walked in the day OF surgery. It's like all of my fears went away and I felt this peace of, "yeah, I'm doing the right thing." ...the RN staff helped a lot too...I will always value RN/surgery staff that you can clearly tell do this all the time and run through pre-op like a well oiled machine.
  12. Yes, my surgeon's told me how much I could expect to lose total after surgery and that it was possible to exceed that expected percentage. My surgeon said "you can lose 60% of your excess weight or more" basically. I'm in the "or more" category at the moment. In my experience, they want to give a conservative estimate since not everyone makes it to their expected loss. Also at each post op visit where weight loss was monitored (ie: not just the staple removal appt) they would say if i was on track or exceeding expectations. You can certainly call the office's nurse line and ask approximately what you should be losing per month. And yes, I think 40 pounds down 6 weeks out sounds like fabulous progress--but I'm not your surgeon so I don't reeeally know I didn't reward myself with prizes because that would personally take me down a path of rewarding myself for something I really just needed to do for my health. I do a little cheer every time I meet a goal and maybe get a coffee that week, but my big prize to myself will be a new wardrobe at goal or under goal. So that's expensive enough! I have a history of holding myself to high standards though, so prizes at mini milestones are like "yeah well you should be doing this anyway so keep it up!" ha.
  13. So do you, look at that difference in only 2 months!!
  14. Haha yes I’m sure! I feel like a new woman though ?
  15. We broke up, but I have no other “before” pictures so I always use that one ?
  16. 6 months post op. 75 down, 20 to go.
