  1. I'm so excited for you! (And more than a little envious....) I wish smooth sailing to you--I'm sure you'll do great!
  2. I haven't been banded yet, but I found Centrum Silver Chewables (for us ol' farts). They aren't too bad!
  3. Too funny!
  4. Hoping for a June date also-keep your fingers crossed! Going to the shrink on Monday--wish me luck--I REALLY want to go in there and say "the voices in my head told me to---MWUHUHUHUHUH!":tt2:
  5. Hi all- I've read the posts regarding support from friends and family members when you have your surgery. I see the need to have this support after you get home, but I'm one of these people that when I'm sick or having surgery I just want people to leave me the heck alone! Are you required to have a support person at the hospital if you don't want one? Thanks for any input....
  6. Sounds like me after a few beers! Actually I get my upper GI in about 4 hrs--I can't wait---NOT!
  7. I was told that I would be able to go back to work after a week or two, but our employee health department governs when you come back. Since it says in my job description that I have to be able to lift 75 lbs, they won't let me back until the MD will release me with no restrictions, and that won't be until six weeks! I have the time saved up and have worked this job for 30 years without a break longer than two weeks, so I'm sorta looking forward to it! Just one more incentive to get the band!
  8. I want some of those drugs.....
  9. jetsy-I was in your position when I was 45. All the numbers looked great. But then I hit 50..since then I've developed sleep apnea, borderline glucose, chol and BP, and my knees hurt, to boot....you really should find an MD that will help you act now, while you still are healthy and not wait until you make that downhill slide! Good luck!
  10. I would LOVE to get off my bipap--I have never had such an intense love-hate relationship with anything in my entire life! Hubby has sleep apnea also--it sounds like Mr and Mrs Darth Vader in our bed every night! And when we travel we have to lug TWO machines...
  11. Sweet! After you get them made you'll have to put them on YouTube!
  12. You guys are all an inspiration for the rest of us just starting our journey! Good luck to all of us!
  13. Mine's big enough to do just that! Your's is shrinking so fast you won't be able to for long!:biggrin2:
  14. Only the second most miserable night of your life? I ain't gonna ask what your first most miserable one was......
  15. Wow, you've lost a lot of weight already! I'll bet you do great with the lap band!
  16. I got a lot of letters from lawyers wanting me to sue them, and one of them had the free echo offer, which I took them up on. When everything was normal, I figured "no harm, no foul" and wouldn't sue them--especially since I figured by the time the lawyers took their cut there wouldn't be much left....if I had known it would have been worth 2 grand I might've taken them up on it!:w00t:
  17. I was on phen-fen years ago and lost 80 lbs, but then they pulled it off the market and I gained it all back plus the usual 20 more..... Now since I was on it my surgeon wants me to have an echocardiogram. Any of y'all had to do this also?
  18. Wow, I never thought I would hear myself say this, but I'm glad I have documented sleep apnea so I won't have to have a sleep study--it's one less hoop I have to jump through to make the insurance folks happy! :biggrin2:
  19. Add to the list--Not peeing on myself every time I sneeze!
  20. Headhunter-if your claims are real I wish the very best for you and hope you recover your health. If they aren't, I STILL wish the very best for you!
  21. Count me in with the feeling that the psych eval is gonna be the scariest thing! I cured myself of bulimia about 20 years ago and I'm afraid that they will hold that against me. I want to be truthful, but find a way to "sugarcoat" it so they won't "flunk" me...
  22. The new look of the website is amazing! I was very afraid of the stern apple lady...
  23. Let me guess, the actress playing the character weighs 150 lbs?
  24. You might want to call the office of the MD who's doing the study--some give the patient a sleeping pill if the patient is concerned that they can't sleep. Also if you explain to them that you are a night owl, they may let you start the study later in the evening--I work nights, so they let me do my sleep study during the day.
  25. I had my first evaluation meeting Monday with the dietitian and the clinic coordinator, and the coordinator said she'd contact me on Thursday to let me know the next step. Well, Thursday has come and gone without a word. I'm trying to decide if I should call her Friday afternoon to show my dedication to being banded, but on the other hand, someone here said their coordinator was concerned that she seemed too desperate, and I don't want to come across that way (although I am a bit!) Do you all have any suggestions?? Thanks!
