Yes. Every single minute! I do have an anxiety over this. It’s like a crippling sense of impending failure. I don’t know what to do about it!

LaLaDee got a reaction from fat to fit in Can you really stretch your sleeve?
I got this advice below from my surgeon this week (I get an email from them most weeks with helpful info and videos - it’s kinda cool). I’m Australian so it’s using the metric system but it might be helpful to you.

We often get asked from those patients with a sleeve gastrectomy whether the sleeves will stretch over time. The short answer is yes, all sleeves do stretch over the years. The sleeve reduces the size of the stomachs capacity from around 1.5L down to 200ml. This good news is this sleeve will keep this capacity down to 200 ml for several years. After the 3-4 year mark the capacity will increase to around the 300- 400ml mark but it stops at that size.

It’s important to remember that the sleeve is merely a tool to help on hunger control and Portion Control. What's just as important is to modify our eating behaviours - getting used to small regular portions, eating Proteins first and being mindful of our eating patterns. We need to be mindful of the difference between when our body needs fuel versus eating for emotional issues (tiredness, stress, boredom etc.).

The emotional (non hungry) eating patterns are what often drives weight regain. Make the behavioural changes in the first 2-3 years when the sleeve is at it’s tightest and you’ll be rewarded by long term weight control and you'll be able to avoid weight regain. Watch the video below for more insights.

LaLaDee reacted to Jeaniered in August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Started at 304 got down to 283 before sleeve on 8 August. Lost fast a beginning around 30 pounds first month, then it slowed down, nearly 6 months later I have lost 75 pounds. Now 229 and losing on average 2 pounds a week. Sometimes the scales don’t move but the tape measure does, I have gone down more that 5 dress sizes. I used to dread stalls, drove me mad in the beginning now I just follow the pattern and wait for it to pass. Its years since I have been so happy within myself. I feel normal, wear wonderful clothes and am so much healthier.
I want to lose more, and stick religiously to Proteins and very few carbs, I struggle with Water and never quite make it. However, if I didn’t lose another pound I would still be so much happier than this time last year.

My surgeon thinks I'm halfway; I think I'm a quarter of the way. I'm on my way, anyway.
I'm at a transition point--I moved two days ago, out of a very kind friend's home and into a sublet apartment. Part of this transition is the opportunity to get back to the way I should be eating--I've spent the last four months surrounded by temptations of every kind--white bread, rice, potatoes, Pasta, sweets, you name it. So I did my first shopping for the new apartment very mindfully and didn't buy any of those things (except for a small loaf of pumpernickel bread).
I've also (somewhat reluctantly) taken an apartment with a flight of stairs outside--boy, do I hate stairs. Especially outside in the winter. But so far . . . knees still don't hurt. This might actually be good for me.
I guess what I really have to share is this: It doesn't matter if you slip or make some bad choices along the way. Every day, every month is a new chance to do better. That's where I am now.

Anyone else struggling to be comfortable in their “new” body? I feel like I want to buy new clothes but I can’t figure out what suits me or even where to shop! People at work tell me I look good and it feels weird. Everything feels weird. I think my sister is resentful because I’m smaller than her now. I’m less invisible now and I don’t know how I feel about that. It defies laws of science, but the bigger you are - the less people see you. When I walk into a shop, suddenly the service is so much better. Is this in my head? Why should it bother me? I’m no different (inside) than I was 6 months ago.
Dont get me wrong - I’m thankful for the weight loss but everything feels weird.

LaLaDee got a reaction from FluffyChix in Meal Planning for Dummies??
At this stage, you're probably on puree foods? It's quite easy to meal plan as you can barely eat anything. I'd make some batches of Soup or whatever you're eating and divide it into tiny portions. Once you move onto proper food, you can check out youtube for millions of ideas. In my experience, It's easy to meal prep following surgery because you always have tons of leftovers. If you live alone, you can basically cook twice a week and have enough food to get you through.
I only shop once a week on Sundays, at the beginning of the week, I have salads and fresh things, by the end of the week, I'm having more vegies which last longer in the fridge. When you cook, make large portions so you can freeze extras. Buy tupperware. I find it helpful to have cans of tuna, Beans, tomatos on hand too. Resist the urge to order food in. I'm so proud of the fact that I don't buy lunch every day at work anymore. I have Protein Bars and tuna in my desk so even if I forget to pack something, there is no excuse! By meal planning, you will know what you're eating and save money!

    Hello there!
You are about to have surgery and it's scaring you to death? You are thinking you made a mistake? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
You just had your surgery and you feel like crap? It's hard to swallow and you ache all over? You wish you had not done this? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
You're recovering from surgery, but the restricted diet is driving you up a wall? You'd like some assurances that there are things you can eat that won't make you bored senseless and/or nauseous, and if not, comforting words that this will pass and the next stages are better? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
It's been a few weeks since surgery and you're worried you're not losing as much weight as other people? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
It's been two or three weeks since your surgery and you seem to have stopped losing weight entirely? You maybe even gained a few pounds? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.

It is totally cool to ask about all of these things! It's totally cool to worry and want some nice people to give you advice and tell you that you are not alone. Post anything you would like. But you can also take a few minutes and read some of the earlier posts. You should totally do that, too, as a) it will give you more answers to the thing that is bothering/scaring you more quickly and b ) it will help you see that you're not alone and there are nice people here who have had the same or similar problems and they turned out okay. Also, by posting your worries in the pre-existing threads, you will make the top of the forum less scary to other new people, as there won't be a half dozen posts on the same problem, just a few longer ones with lots of support and answers already in place.
The forum didn't open this morning! Don't discount how much you can learn by reading what's already here. You are going to be okay. Settle in and read stuff. It will help, I promise.

Call his bluff. Make him seriously think about what it would mean if he divorced you for medical reasons. I am pretty sure you would take him to the cleaners financially. Don't appeal to his emotions, show him how it will cost half of his possessions, retirement, and a good chunk of his income.
Texas is a "Fair & Just" divorce state. That doesn't necessarily mean a 50/50 split. He may want to think before he opens his mouth again.

I know what you mean! I find these forums helpful because checking it every day weirdly reminds me to stay on track. But the posts are always about the three week stall or someone freaking out with regrets 2 days in. I want to be helpful and supportive but sometimes I don’t want to read (let alone, respond to) the same posts over and over. I’m just over 5 months out from my surgery and I feel it’s so repetitive on here. It’s sad because a lot of the actual veterans (people one year plus) vanish from the site and we miss out on their wisdom!
Maybe there should be a pinned FAQ thread which answers the top 10 newbie questions that get asked every week here? If people are too lazy to use the search function then they can just read the FAQ thread?

You guys, I’m back!!! Took a much needed break from the forums after leaving my abusive ex . I was battling severe depression around April-May & some stemmed from obsessing over my hypochondria . I’m glad to say that almost a year out from VSG(MARCH 13) it’s still the best DECISION I have ever MADE . I eat what I enjoy in smaller portions and I have maintained my weight loss and continue to lose. I have not reached my goal weight of 120 but I’m down nearly 70 pounds. I have had ZERO COMPLICATIONS. god bless you all

Not sure what to say. It really sounds like you've had a terrible time. You definitely need medical advice. I would definitely get a second opinion from another bariatric surgeon. It sounds like your surgeon may have missed something (or possible even had a complication with the surgery).
I have had neuro problems and unusual MRIs that were triggered by my surgery (I basically had an immune system break down). I have a neurologist who is monitoring it. Sometimes our bodies freak out after the trauma of surgery.
Unfortunately, I think you're going to be stuck doing a lot of medical tests until they can figure it out. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Your surgery shouldn't be like this. Describe every symptom and advocate for yourself! I think you may have a couple of different problems there which is going to make a diagnosis difficult. Make the doctors listen to you. Don't give up hope! They will figure out what is wrong with you!
