With all do respect. It's fine for you to regret it
But telling others not to do it who could be one step away from a heart attack?

    Anyway
Most people regret it at first. When your able to eat normal food about 6 weeks in and you start to see the results most of us stop regretting it.

I haven't lost my ability to choose anything so speak for your self.im four months post and love eating and many people don't regret it.

Surgeons say that cause u won't be losing weight anymore due to the surgery the next weight will come off from dieting and exercise. Remember to be gentle with your body it has been through a lot and it needs healthy food and lotsa Water and it eventually Will let go of excess weight. It's a journey and sometimes the last few pounds don't come off as quickly as we want them but if you make a healthy lifestyle with a couple of cheat meals and good daily exercise - nothing crazy your body does change. Try not to be hung up on a weight just live healthy and see where u end up. You might end up weighing more but being a smaller size cause of muscle. Remember to take your Vitamins and Protein Shakes .

I had the same issue! My family doctor recommend the bypass , my surgeon too but my gastroenterologist said that the surgery was not for me!!! And if I really was going to get it was better to go for the sleeve!
i had to see by myself what where the positives outcomes and the negatives!!!
I have diabetes , need to lose weight, Barrett and cholesterol... I decided to go for the bypass. Why? Because I can stop having pills for all and if my barrett begins to show cancer ...I still have my stomach to repare my esophagus!!!!
Now 2 months later I have no cholesterol, no diabetic pills and no more acid reflux and I loose 50 pounds!!!
And if you really want to lose weight this is not the easy way!!! You have to learn to eat healthy with the sleeve or the bypass!!!
If you learn and Follow the rules you will be ok.

    Good luck!!!

I am sorry to read this. I hope that you get relief from all of the issues that you have been dealing with. I wonder if being on a low carb diet has aided in the issues you've experienced. Lack of Fiber in a diet can wreak havoc on the digestive system, and gall stones can form with a high protein/high fat diet. I don't know what you've been eating over the past four or five years, so it is hard to tell if this might have caused your issues.
My cousin had diverticulitis issues after GB surgery until she stopped eating low carb, and started eating way more fiber. My wife's friend also had digestive problems after lap-band surgery until she started eating more fiber. She started eating more whole grains, vegetables and fruits, stopped drinking shakes, and lowered the amount of meat that she was eating. Her overall weight loss slowed down, but she was still able to get to a normal bmi that way.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you've been able to put these issues behind you.

I really don't see it as a punishment. It's a never forget moment.
Its not about jump starting, even though it would be great if it did, it's about never forgetting the sacrifice. I feel like my life now is normal. I don't feel tortured by it either.
It's definitely celebratory, I've had great success, I just don't ever want to be so far away from the struggle that I don't appreciate how the journey started.
It's also self imposed, so if something isn't right or doesn't feel right, then pass the chicken. I'm not about to hurt myself over some idea.

@Berry78 At this point I just laugh at how different our surgeon's plans are. LOL. It's almost as if they say, "I need to put my own spin on this thing, so I'm gonna do xyz and blah blah blah abracadabra! this week, then go to this in week 6..." Just seems so arbitrary!
I just got my post-op plan on my last visit with the RD. Here's mine for grins and giggles:
Week 2: Full liquids (All Clear Liquids + Protein Drinks, Tomato or V-8, sf fudgesicles, skim or lactaid milks, strained cream Soups made with skim milk, plain yogurt (I'm guessing the non-Greek variety), sf pudding, cream of wheat thinned with skim milk or Protein drink.
Week 3: Soft Solids (All things from clear liquids and full liquids, soft scrambled eggs, low fat cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt, flaked fish: tuna, salmon, white fish, canned chicken, starches (yeah right), fruit without membranes/skin or canned in natural juice, fats (limit to 6g/serving), limit sugar to no more than 4g/serving. No liquid calories. Ideally 3 meals + 1 snack. Try to get as much protein from food rather than supplements.
Week 4: Start slowly introducing Regular Food, 1 new food at a time: 2 milk servings, 3 meat servings (1-2oz/s), 4 fruit/veggie servings (1/4-1/2c/s cooked), 2-3 fat servings (1tsp/s) (Sounds an awful lot like a WW plan...right?)

now see... pain and throat problems is something to complain about. losing 16lbs a month is not.
fact remains that lately there has been a rash of b*tch sessions (mostly from women... conclude from that what you will) about not losing weight fast enough even though they are losing at the rate of 15-20lbs per month. likely because they cruise these forums and see 400+lb men who lose 25-30lbs in their first few months and greedily want the same.

JohnnyCakes - Stop telling women how they should feel. I'm not grateful for this at all - I'm in pain when I eat constantly and my throat is closing up. I dry heave randomly throughout the day. I would trade in that weight loss at this point. My doctor literally told me I could be losing more but am not because of my complication, so kindly shut up.

It's beyond frustrating- depressing. The nausea from hunger pangs has landed me with a monthly prescription of Zofran and 3 different GERD meds. I'm talking to my original surgeon who has recommended bypass, but I also remember the feeling I had with the band and knowing when I was full and the restriction I felt, of which I have none now. I do know that the surgeon who did my sleeve used the largest bougie-42, which has a lot to do with it. I wish I'd have kept my slipped band at this point!!
The band was great fo me. I loved that it made me fee full and that is why I'm leaning toward a band on top of my sleeve. However, I cannot find anyone who has had this done which is concerning. I'm hesitant about a bypass as I could be exactly where I now and then have no options!

Oh wow, I had no idea! I told my Surgeon's nurse what all I was taking and she didn't say anything about it. Maybe she didn't know. :-/ Thanks for the info! I've been taking this combination for over a month. I will stop the Zinc. I had just heard that Biotin and Zinc together work really well for hair. I have really been constipated too, which I figure is from the Iron. Any suggestions there??
