Well, after a few weeks of minimal losses, I logged a 3.3lb loss this week and have officially hit goal weight!

I feel like I have stalled too. Haven’t lost anything in 6 weeks. Haven’t gained at least but no loss at all. Even before that it had seriously slowed down. I am down 66 overall since surgery but have so much further to go. I admit I slacked a bit in tracking for a few weeks but have been actively tracking again for last 4 weeks and working out almost daily (rotating cardio and strength).
Was hoping to be down more before my wedding in September. Not sure if stress from work and wedding is causing more of a stall. Just feeling really discouraged.

I'm still going strong. Down about 175lbs from my high weight and only about 6lbs away from goal. Loss has definitely slowed over the past couple of months, but I'm still losing.

Curious as to how much weight people have lost at the 1 month mark as we get into January? I'm 24 days since surgery so I have 6 more days to go but I've only lost 11 lbs with the bulk of it right at the beginning. Feeling like I'm losing slower. Where are you all at?

I'm four years out.
I took the whole time till goal (which for me was almost exactly a year) to eat NONE of the junk that made me fat. I followed my plan to the letter. I completely eliminated almost all simple and processed carbs--bread, Pasta, potatoes, rice, crackers, etc. I ate almost no fruit because of the sugar content. No sweetened drinks. Not even once in a while or a bite or two at holidays/parties. I do and have always done fake sugar. Sue me, but to this day I need Protein supplement and haven't found one I like without it and it doesn't seem to affect me.
Once I got to goal it was Christmas and I tried moderation and gained about 10 pounds! Got back on my program and dropped it. There are things I know I can't open the door to now (hello cheezits), there are things I don't care for anymore--that I've lost my interest in (potatoes, pasta, sweet drinks) and things that don't agree with me (rice, untoasted bread). Other things I can do and enjoy in moderation (cookies, pizza, alcohol). Some now have a place in my normal diet (fruit, oatmeal).
But for me it was important to have that year of a reset! To break my habits, to learn new ones, to change my relationship with food and to change my tastes and cravings.
That's what worked for me!

I second this advice! I took a little over half a dose of Miralax, and that was more than enough to work!

Merry Christmas everyone! Made a ricotta bake today this is the first time I felt any restriction after about 3 oz. Up until today I could do Protein Shakes, drinks, puddings very easy. Can even eat a whole yogurt with out any discomfort. Im glad I finally felt full I was starting to wonder if I ever got sleeved! kidding of course. Hope you all are doing well.

hey buddies - good to see everyone's updates and so many doing well Sorry for those struggling - for those with gas pains that were just sleeved, I found day 3 to be a tough one but by day 5 i felt pretty good ..hoping the same for you.
It is really interesting to see the difference in surgeon's plans etc..I didn't expect them to vary so much. I was sleeved 12/7 had my 2 week check in yesterday - finally got off my 7-8oz of Protein Shake only per day. I moved to soft foods and there is a list I can eat. Interestingly, he doesn't give targets for Protein or Fluid amounts per day - said to stay hydrated and eat when hungry - even if it's 4, 5, 6 times per day...but only eat until satisfied, don't over eat. Eat nutrient dense foods and try for higher protein. He said if he gives targets sometimes people are trying to cram in more food/protein when they aren't hungry. Also everyone exercises different amounts etc. So that's a lot less pressure to me
I'm down 17lbs since surgery. for someone with horrible thyroid and parathyroid problems who never sees the scale move, it's a beautiful thing.

Checking in how is everyone making out? 7 days post op down 7 lbs. Had a can of creamy chicken Soup today and it was like having a giant turkey dinner and I even zonked out right after. Never thought a can of soup could taste so good. Where is everyone at food and weight wise?

I am one week post-op today, bypass with open (not laparoscopic)] surgery. Been out of hospital two days and it is going well. Struggled with drinking too fast at first - sharp tummy pains after - but now I have slowed right down I am on track. Still only at 40oz Water, but that is picking up. 40g Protein yesterday - not enough hours in a day to get trough!
Each day, less pain and I feel better. Don’t weigh myself until I get home on 26th but my jeans are a little looser!

MamaDarlin reacted to FluffyChix in Clothing Sizes
I "think" vanity sizing is well in use in the US, but I don't know for certain. I'm still in my "magic pants." They're 26-28s that fit me at 325lbs and still fit me at 229lb! LOL. So I've no idea what "real size" I wear! One day, no doubt, when I'm embarrassingly "pantsed" in public, I'll be forced to go shopping! *snort*

MamaDarlin reacted to FluffyChix in Time to be honest. Anyone care to join?
I've tried since I was 9. My longest lasting attempt has been low carb (since 2000). I too have PCOS. I'm also pre-diabetic, have had a pretty severe hormone positive (obesity related) breast cancer, asthma, arthritis, left arm lymphedema (from the cancer treatment), high blood pressure, and other stuff. The likelihood of losing the weight and maintaining the loss with my health situation is about the same as me winning a multi-million dollar lottery. It's not impossible that I could do this on my own, it's just highly unlikely and improbable.
But in saying this, I do not excuse my personal responsibility in contributing to my obesity. It's another chicken/egg thing. Did I eat myself into obesity? Or did my constant yo-yo dieting get me to the point that I was unable to resist the hormonal drive to eat--and to eat crap food, rather than lean, clean food? Dunno. Doesn't matter. I'm here and that's enough. Research is showing that the reason so few are successful long term in losing and maintaining weight loss is because the body will sabotage us. Once we get fat, it seems--the body wants to keep us fat and will dump a whole host of hormones on us to make sure we eat and re-feed to beyond our previous weight. It sounds like we're victims of our fat body. Right? Except I don't want to be a victim--it robs us of power and action.
So where I am right now is at the point where I have to accept that I need an additional boost (through a metabolic reset and surgery) in order to succeed at this whole weight loss thing. Will it change my head? Nope. I still have to work on changing that. But it will change a whole host of things they "think" contributes to long term obesity. It will immediately within about 3 weeks drop my chance of cancer recurrence about another 30-45% (I'm presently now at a 25% recurrence rate--so it will split it in half).
Do I need this surgery? Absolutely.
Do I deserve this surgery? Well, that's putting a value statement on it. Maybe. Maybe not. It's almost a Schroedinger's Cat question. Philosophically, do you believe the cat in the box is dead? Does anyone deserve a better metabolic chance at changing their life long term, but for at least a minimum of 12 years? Are any of us worthy--or more worthy than another? I don't fool myself that I will suddenly be healthy enough to go out there and cure cancer, or solve the meaning of life and existence. But, chances are (and my insurance company is betting on this), that I will be healthier after surgery to more than pay for the $50000 or so they will spend on me having the surgery. So I'ma say I deserve the surgery. Cuz I can.
