I haven't been to a theme park in years since the same thing happened to me. I actually had to get off the ride and all my friends saw. Can't wait for the surgery and to be able to enjoy normal things again!

I was embarrassed today (well yesterday since I'm typing it now)
I went to get in the ride n the guy had to force the security lock right against my stomach n a family member ask am i ok. Now more than ever I'm looking forward to the surgery. This is the second time this happened just at another park.
9 days away it's setting in.

beebee17 reacted to ignatius1580 in Day 3 post op Sleeve on 8/9/2017
Hello all I am now sleeved! Had my surgery on 8/9 at 2:00p. This is day 3 and not as bad as I imagined. Pain is treated with oxycodone liquid so not a huge issue. Still sleeping in a recliner, bed too much of a pain with the drain tube. Had my first Protein Shake and took 8oz in 45 min with no issues! Haven't weighed myself cause all the gas and swelling so will wait until day 5 to do that. Started this journey on 5/5/2017 and weighed in at 481. I decided on changing my life with the birth of our first child. I want to be around for her future. Surgery weight was 442. The best feeling I have had so far (and I know it's gross) is passing gas, never been so happy and relieved to pass gas. Feel pretty good and anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer if I can!! Good luck all!

How much was the surgery out of country?

beebee17 reacted to Ldyvenus in Did You Pay in Full for Operation Before Leaving for Mexico?
I used my credit card, because I didn't want to carry that much cash. I paid a $500 deposit using the card, then I let my CC company know well ahead of time, that I would me making a large purchase in Mexico.

beebee17 reacted to Jazmin in Did You Pay in Full for Operation Before Leaving for Mexico?
Your concern is legit, I too felt insecure about the unknowness of it all. I had to pay a deposit which I made through a bank money transfer. I paid the remaining balance with a cashier's check. We sent them a copy of it and when we got to the hospital we turned the check in to the person in charge. When you get to San Diego a driver will text and call you, he will pick you up and take you to the hospital. The hospital is small, nothing like the fancy ones we have here in the states but the doctor that operated on me Dr. Gutierrez was very knowledable, kind and caring. I'm certain they all are professional there as well. Don't be afraid, it will be over before you think about it and you will be on your journey to health. My experience was great, no pain and the nurses were very sweet to me. I wish you the best.

beebee17 reacted to DaleCruse in Sleeved yesterday, so hard to drink, hope it gets easier
Congratulations on your surgery! You're in one of the toughest stages & I feel for you. Now that you've had surgery, you'll probably find better answers in the post-surgery forum rather than this pre-surgery forum. Good luck! It gets better!

beebee17 reacted to GotProlactinoma in Sleeved yesterday, so hard to drink, hope it gets easier
I am drinking baby sips of Water. It took me from when I got home from surgery after 4 hours, to bedtime - at home for about 5 hours, I'd only drank like 5 oz. I attempted an ounce of broth so I could take the pain pill, but I only took in 1/4 of that ounce of Bone Broth. I'm now in the middle of the night up and trying to drink, throat so dry.
today I go back to clinic for the Vitamin IV thank goodness. I'm worried about dehydration.
what happened to the thread of July sleevers? I want to see how my fellows are doing.

beebee17 reacted to Dr-Patient in Stupid question, but do they strip you nude in surgery?
Yes. And, FYI: If you've got an "inny" navel, do yourself a favor and clean it out with Q-tips before your surgery. Dip them in alcohol or something. Then use dry ones to dry the navel. Get the crud out so no one in the OR comments or glances askew. The nurses and staff will be so impressed.

There is also the surgical prep which includes areas covered by bra bands and top of panties.

beebee17 reacted to DisneyMom2El in Stupid question, but do they strip you nude in surgery?
It's a sanitation and safety procedure. For example, they look at the worst possible case scenario, which would mean your heart stops beating. They don't want to waste time by having to get your bra out of the way, or if they have to use the paddles on you, they don't want some of that power going to the metal in your underwire. Also, if you are wearing undergarments under your robe, there is a chance of cross-contamination since they came from outside of the hospital.

Question how did you guys get so big?? I was 105 and 5'2" tall then got pregnant and got up to 175 but two months after the baby was born I was at 142.5 and then with diet and exercise 115. I have still not reached my goal of being 109 again.

beebee17 reacted to melissa39437 in You have to want it bad enough in order to succeed!
9 months ago when I took the picture on the left I was miserable, depressed and down right disgusted with myself. Yesterday July 23rd, 9 weeks post op I decided to take some new pictures. The one on the right is one of those pictures. I am so thankful I had such an amazing surgeon and team members. They made sure my surgery was done properly in order to make sure my success is achievable. Dr Maytorena, Long Term WLS, and my coordinator gave me so much more than I could ever have imagined. In 9 short weeks, yes you read that right, I am down over 50 pounds almost 70 pounds counting my preop! I feel better than I have in years! I have more self esteem, better sleep, I'm more active and I now love my life again! I wanted this more than anything in the world and my team made sure it was done the right way, to begin with in order for me to be successful. For that I am forever grateful! If you want to be successful as well I highly recommend these guys. I am not affiliated with them at all other than I had my sleev there. I am sharing my story in hopes that it inspires someone else. Don't ever give up because YOU CAN SUCCEED!!!

@beebee17
My surgeon also told me no gum. Guess it doesn't digest quickly or completely if accidentally swallowed so can create difficulties. Even after 5 years, it is still strongly discouraged.

beebee17 reacted to Yettid in i am going crazy
I have not had surgery yet, but I do know about antidepressants. If you stop them, esp cold turkey, it won't be pretty. Discontinuation syndrome is brutal. You will feel crazy, anxious, depressed ten fold. I'll bet your misery is exacerbated by not having your meds. I'd recommend contacting your doctor for liquid meds if you haven't already done that. Or talk to my surgeon or psychiatrist. There are other ways to absorb medications other than orally[emoji15]. Hang in there you feel better I!
