7 Days Post Op - Ate Cottage Cheese
With all due respect. You are a gastric bypass. The OP is a VSG. From my observation in the US, most VSG patients have a MUCH longer time on liquids and purees than us bypassers.

Are you still pre-op? LOL. That's what it says in your profile.

7 Days Post Op - Ate Cottage Cheese
Welcome to the world of arbitrary doctor's orders. It IS hard to make sense of the hard fast rules and the touchy feely individual ones. But it's still besst to follow YOUR doc's plan. Otherwise why have the surgery? I just HAVE to presume that the docs know more than we do as patients in these situations...

What To Eat When The Honeymoon Wears Off - OAC
Keep swimmin, Dory! Don't lose the faith!!! WTG for muscling through and trying new things!!! Do you log, weigh and measure every bite that goes down your mouth? Mine was long gone by 10months. LOL. So I feel your pain!

7 Days Post Op - Ate Cottage Cheese
At 7 days (or anytime) engage your MIND rather than entertain idle head hunger. (And yes, I KNOW how hard head hunger is...and about diet fatigue. I get it. It's hard. So is being morbidly obese and having terrible co-morbidities. Choose your hard.) Spend the time wisely--learn new things--do the head work. Here's a great thread to apply your brain.

What's Your Fave BP Store Foods?
Well I eat about 90/10 whole foods to packaged foods. I'm pretty good with that mix. I heart the following: Zeroodles (all shapes) and shirataki noodles (the same thing but different brands). Quest Chips and Tortillas Walden Farms Dressings (Asian, Sesame Ginger, Italian) + Basil Garlic Marinara (mixed with other low carb marinara) Epic flavored baked pork rinds

7 Days Post Op - Ate Cottage Cheese
WLS is hard. You are going through a time that is a right of passage. I think we've all "tested" the waters during our diet progression--some with more success than others. But please understand this...the rules exist for a reason. For our protection! At 7 days the risk of perferation and leakage are HEEEEEEUUUUUUUGGGGGEEE! The reason you are placed on liquids is to reduce the amount of activity in the stomach. The stomach actually expands and contracts when food (and sometimes liquids) are brought into it. They even do that in response to PICTURES of food. And the docs want to keep that activity to a minimum. And the second thing that must be asked of you guys cheating: What were you hoping to get from WLS? Why would you actively say WTF, I'm doing it anyway cuz I am "tired of liquids" Why would you actively add back caffeine to your program when your doc told you not to? When decaff is an option? *SMH. Trying not to judge. But this WOE is hard enough without actively trying to eff ourselves with bad choices--most especially during this early, early, time. You have ONE honeymoon period. Don't eff it up. Don't squander it. Get started doing the headwork, and making the hard calls. I'm sure others will be along shortly to soothe your ruffled feathers and give affirmation to your decisions and rationalizations...

Dealing with regain
For those of you going through regain. Can you do an experiment for me, please? Will you serve yourself a "normal" size dinner portion that you've been eating. And then measure it and come back and share with us the volume and exactly what you ate? Extra points for pics before/after. That would be SO helpful! I'm wondering if you're eating <1cup of food per meal still or if you are eating 1-2cups or 3 cups per meal and what kind of foods (ie I can probably eat 2cups of salad but 1 1/4c of dense protein + al dente veg). I'm 16months out.

Saw this today. It didn't come as any big surprise. I think we all remember experiencing this? It's an old study. https://www.gastrojournal.org/article/0016-5085(86)90943-1/pdf?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov%2F

WAIT WHAT NO CALORIE SALAD DRESSING!
Yeah. I just read about titanium dioxide this morning. Had thought it was pretty "innocent." Maybe not so much now. I still don't think that will be the thing that finally kills me. So I will worry about it maybe next month.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
Nooo! It's 5 days eating basically vegan. Like you. I can't do 5 days of a WF. But I can do 5 days of an FMD eating greens/veggies and green smoothies. And getting protein in from hemp hearts, chia, some garbanzo beans. My carbs are still net 50g or less per day.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
Yeah, EFs are tough especially when it's just WF! I find them practically impossible. Me=wimpy Most of my OMADs (and I don't do a lot of those) are 22:2 or 20:4 and I purposely don't worry about hitting protein goals. But my other days, I try to hit my protein goal each day during the eating window--usually 16:8 or 18:6. I had a big night last night and am up a couple of pounds of water weight today, so it's on like Donkey Kong. Once a month Resetters do a 5 day fast. I'm not being very compliant this week. My excuse rationalization is Memorial Day. *sigh*. Oh well. Will get back on it today and go for 5 consecutive days with is. It's really an FMD of sorts featuring 2x a day green smoothies and unlimited green veg. Come do it with me. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get your protein in on it. I was given the ok to have hemp hearts and chia from my oncologist.

How to stop losing and maintain
Darlin' this is a fallacy. The surgery works to some extent on its own IF you follow the rules and depends quite closely to the amount of metabolic derangement you have. I have had to fight tooth and nail for every pound, but I'm an outlier. IMHO, wl stops for most when you are in equilibrium. But if you are still eating wl mode calorie levels of 650-850 like many of us, then you probably will need to up your cals to around 900-1200 as a start. Congrats on your fabulous success!!

Totes agree. Dry fasts have less hunger than water fasts for me. Glad to hear it about your test. Hope it all goes well. Don't forget to study!

WAIT WHAT NO CALORIE SALAD DRESSING!
Get outta my head, Alex! That's not your's! Ha! I was thinking the same thing...that if I have to worry about the 12-15cals I'm getting in my salad dressing and not counting in MFP, I have a much bigger problem from an order of magnitude proportion. And as they said in Jaws, "We're gonna need a bigger boat..." *snort* But yeah, the rules of the food industry keep them just a few steps in front of us all the time.
