Food Before and After Photos
Yeah. If I raise them to 1000-1200 I'm very very firmly in maintenance. If I want to lose at all, I still have to be between 600-850. I honestly think it's the combination of hypothyroid/low Free T3 and the cancer drug I take. But it is what it is. I still get gorgeous food on that amount. I just have to be smart about it.

Carbs
My RD is fine with 1 protein shake per day as long as we are getting plenty of real whole food. She feels like the one shake and protein boost allows more room to get veggies and fruits in, rather than making every meal all about protein.

How much Calcium citrate is everyone taking?
Thanks! So is the MK7 metabolite the one mostly found in fermented foods? And the MK4 metabolite found mostly in dark leafy greens? I will go look for a 90mic MK7 today. Thanks for the rec.

I Think I'm Allergic To Carbs
Your calculation is incorrect hon. You are 5'6". So your ideal weight is assessed at 130lbs (100 for the first 5 feet and 5lbs for every inch over 100lbs = 100 + (5lbs X 6ins) = 130lbs. Now express your ideal weight in kg: 130lbs divided by 2.2kg/lb = 59kg Now figure your protein needs bases upon your health/activity/degree of athletic pursuit (most of us are average): 59kg X 0.8g/kg of protein = 47.2g of protein per day Now assume on average that there are about 7g of protein per OUNCE of dense protein by weight: 47.2g protein divided by 7g/ounce protein = 6.74oz protein (dense protein) by weight on a scale to satisfy that 47.2g of protein content per day. And anything above that is likely over-nutrition for most of us. But if you aren't average...then the recs go all the way up to 1.4g/kg of ideal body weight per day.

This is what I used to make mine this morning. It made a Oui sized yogurt glass full and was 1 serving for me. Don't mind my totals there. That's for the day today--estimated but wanted you to be albe to see the column labels.

What is his prostate risk? Read Dr. Axe. 1-2 per month for someone with low risk doesn't sound excessive?

Gotcha hon. Yeah. I totally agree. I'm sorry to hear that for him. It's a grueling sword of Damacles that hangs over his head. He needs to really take care of not gaining weight and keeping his insulin very low. Most prostate cancer is driven by elevated insulin and what it cascades into the sex hormones. I feel his pain. My BC was hormone positive. It's a constant specter that never leaves me.

Hey, btw? I don't say this lightly...cuz I get hungry a lot and just have to tell my badself, I'm not eating. LOL. But I ate that pudding this morning at 6:45am after walking. And it's almost 1pm and I'm only slightly peckish. Still not enough hunger to drive me to go into the kitchen and grab a tuna salad. Will try to wait until 2-3pm before I do it, so I beat the afternoon mean hungries. There aren't too many meals that do that for me for that long.

Read Dr. Axe. Maybe you can share with BF? The bias is a real issue--plus association doesn't ever prove causation.
-
How long did you keep logging meals?
16 Months post RNY. Still plan my food and log everything. I also weight daily. It takes me about 5 minutes per day on MFP.

hahahaha. So on a side note, they may not be the healthiest for men. Chia has a good amount of ALA, and some association studies show that there may be an association between men who consume the most amounts of ALA (omega 3 precursor) and advanced prostate cancer. I haven't looked at the studies so have no opinion. But I don't give Mr. F. chia or if I do, it's not daily or even weekly. But the study was later kinda overturned due to bias. So dunno. I just figure I don't want him being the guinea pig that proves or disproves the study. Here's what Dr. Axe says about 'em. Pretty great stuff... https://draxe.com/chia-seeds-benefits-side-effects/ And that is AWESOME news that BF is on the healthier eating bandwagon!!!! Yay!!!! ?

I'm sorry but I probably would have made a purse of you long ago for those shenanigans! However, I am guilty of bringing my own little containers of Walden Farms dressings and also bags of shirataki noodles to put in soups (at Pho shops).

I log my weight in daily at MFP. It automatically generates a graph based on weight. And you select the time frame. Then I just do a screen capture and save it. It only goes out to 1 year. So I will save each year.

Dr. Mindy talks about doing healthy carb loading the week before with things that build progesterone to help with hunger, and pms symptoms. You might check her out on YouTube! ((hugs))

IKR!? BUTTTTT, look at it this way. Lemme just show you the break out if you only have mocha pudding. For about a 6oz serving (Oui Yogurt Glass), it's only like 83cals. And you get omega 3's, healthy soluble fiber, protein, etc, etc, etc. Chocolate Protein Pudding: 86cals; 6g protein; 5g fat; 8g carbs; 7g fiber; 1g net carbs Imagine this without the blueberries and walnuts. That's more than a 1/2 cup of fat free pudding.
